I started to listen to this last night and similarly to the podcast on Dusty just a wealth of information that I had no idea about (the ICW and WWC stuff especially).

You mentioned a site that had newspaper clippings of ICW, I don't suppose you can post the link by any chance?

Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the Crockett era and beyond when I continue with this.

Think Kris meant this site; http://icwpoffouniverse.webs.com/

Outstanding show as usual.

A couple other random appearances by Buddy. NWF (I think it was called) did a few TV tapings in 1992 I think that SMW guys were a part of. If memory serves Buck Robley was running and/or booking this group that ran in New Orleans. Buddy did some classic TV promos for there including the "Daddy says sell, Daddy says sell" one that I think has been made famous online.

He also showed up in Virginia indies in 1993 as he had supposedly left the business to go into the ministry. A church in Waynesboro, VA hired him as youth minister and he showed up as a surprise on a Doug Ward booked show I was filming at the time. He worked a handful of shows around VA at that time. This was during the era where there were a lot of Ivan Koloff matches against either Jimmy Valiant or Wahoo McDaniel.

I'm trying to remember if he ever worked any of the Bert Prentice feds, WOW or Ozark Mountain or Music City.

Kris, is there an online source you are using for results in chronological order? Or just personal records you have gathered? To me the strength of these shows is how you break down year-by-year which territory these guys were in. I wish Meltzer's obits did that.

I popped for the mention of how weird the J.J Dillon-Tito Santana match was. There's something about that one that always felt to me like your strangest uncle trying to work a match with a real life wrestler.

The stat of Landel starting in WWF the same day as Austin is amazing. He was only three years older than Austin, four years older than that young upstart Shawn Michaels. Not saying he could have been big there, or had Michaels' longevity: watching that match with Bob Holly, his body would have definitely been an issue. He does not look like what Vince thinks a 33, 34 year old guy should look like. But charismatic as hell, crowd is in hands, and best elbow drop in the business.

Only familiar with Buddy from the Crockett stuff, he was an absolute amazing revelation when I finally got into Mid South a couple years ago. Now I know I need to seek out some more. Awesome show!

I just finished listening to this. I thought it was a great podcast. I really don't know a lot about Buddy Landell, but am now much more interested in watching him. I also watched that promo you mentioned he did on Shawn Michaels in SMW and did think it was a really great promo.
