pol Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 Listening now. The reason this show was so long is because it was the biggest building they've run for a non-G1 non-Dome show in forever, so they had to deliver a stacked card. Quote
Dylan Waco Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 I thought about that too, but all their major events are in this time range. Quote
pol Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 I thought about that too, but all their major events are in this time range. I don't think that's really true, most of their events seem to top out around 3 and a half hours. I think the reason Makabe is positioned prominently is because he's the biggest mainstream celebrity on the roster. He has a TV show and recently had a major role in the Japanese Mad Max dub (which is something of a big deal over there, I guess). Quote
soup23 Posted July 6, 2015 Author Report Posted July 6, 2015 This show had a shorter intermission with the G-1 main matches announced but most of their major shows at least have 1-2 matches that could be cut. Interesting thoughts on Makabe. Mad Max was the corner pads sponsor on this show. Reaction was a lot of fun. Enjoyed Pete saying Makabe's arms could be amputated and he could throw better strikes. Grimmas Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 I loved this reaction show. Great job as always. There is nothing better than hearing Dylan pick apart New Japan and Will pointing how much Pete loves The Young Bucks. Personal pet peeve that I have heard Pete do forever and I heard Johnny do it here as well. "Four and three and fourths" sounds incredibly awkward to my ear. "Four and three quarters" sounds much better. Quote

I think that is an aspect of Makabe not too many people know about and one of the major reasons he is pushed so heavily despite his faults. When looking at his physique you might be surprised to hear that Makabe likes Dessert a lot. He even has a show on Japanese TV about it, in a pretty good timeslot on a big network too if i'm not mistaken To Japanese non-wrestling fans he is probably the most recognizable name on the roster. Also, you are off my Christmas card list, Steven. <_ uless you move to ottawa. then we can hang and watch wrestling. as a guest in your homeland i shall pronounce it any way like but have talk with border police for me tell them stop being such fucking dicks.> Quote

Come to Toronto and see the Pan AM games anyways, it's better. Border police stink.. we are all sorry about that. Quote
Badlittlekitten Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 Love me some grouchy Dylan Another enjoyable reaction podcast for a show I'm never gonna watch. I might actually have to track down the Makabe match to see what the fuss is about. Pete's reaction to it was Parv-fuming-over-Backlund levels of hilarious. Quote
Parties Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 So Makabe not only has Guy Fieri's hair, but is in fact the Guy Fieri of Japan? Quote
SomethingSavage Posted July 9, 2015 Report Posted July 9, 2015 Dylan slagging that shit-show stretch of three matches was nice, but Pete pulling down the straps & getting FARRED UP about the Makabe punches was fucking phenomenal. Now I need them to book a one-off between Makabe and Elgin, just so we can hear Pete's reaction to that masterpiece. Pronto. Quote
