grapplin' apple
Hi, I just finished the Bob Backlund book which I loved. It's highly recommended as it's one of the most detailed wrestling books I've read, plus it seems like it is a fairly honest account of his run. I didn't feel like I was being "worked" while I read it. The book isn't big on hyperbole, which I appreciated. I was wondering if the footage of him vs. Crusher Blackwell exists anywhere? I'm super interested in this as I'm a big Jerry Blackwell fan and would love to see him against Blackwell. I've looked on YouTube, Daily Motion, etc. and I can't find it. I'd also be interested if anyone has seen these matches and their thoughts on them. Thanks!
Ricky Jackson
I don't think so. They had a match at the Spectrum but it was during a time when they only televised some cards but not all
Ricky Jackson
Actually, History of WWE says it was televised on PRISM so it could be out there. It's not on James' 70s set though, but the Bullrope between Graham and Dusty from the same card is November
conker8
You should try to contact Backlundfan from KayfabeMemories. He has the tape of the match.
khawk20
You should try to contact Backlundfan from KayfabeMemories. He has the tape of the match. Really? If he does he's the only one. That has never made it out to trading circles. Maybe he has some other rare Backlund as well? If someone is successful in getting that match from Backlundfan please let me know. I do have a collection of Backlund filmed matches from the 70's that I would be willing trade (amongst other things) if he is looking for something return. Blackwell mark that I am, I would LOVE to see him and Bob wrestle, even though the Blackwell in the WWF pales character-wise to the Blackwell of the AWA. victory
I would live to see this match as well. I'm big fan of both guys. I've been wanting to read Backlund's book, I just can't get over that digital price of $18. I'll have to bite the bullet one of these days. JerryvonKramer
I was in touch with Backlundfan some time last year, I can reach out to him if need be. I'm curious to see the match too, although I could already describe it to you without knowing anything about it (Backlund kicks Blackwell's ass who bumps huge for him before getting in some token offense )
khawk20
Dammit Parv, you need to put a SPOILER tag on posts like that!!!!!

Ricky Jackson
Hmm. ..that makes sense. I haven't got around to watching it yet. I could have sworn there was a poor quality version of it on youtube years ago though
