I think you have come up with something special that the actual promoters missed in real life. Same goes for Race and Adams. GREAT USE OF YOUR ROSTER! Your tag team division has so many options that I never know who is going to be on top. That is what wrestling is all about. Keep the fans guessing. Great Job! I would love to see if Garea and Gilbert answer the call to Heenan who sets the biggest bet of them all with everything on the line. Will it pay off? COMMERCIAL Common Ground, fresh off of their upset victory over the Zambuie Express last week, come to the interview area. They say they have nothing to prove against Bobby Heenan’s Midnight Express, but given the chance to get rid of Heenan once and for all, they will gladly accept the challenge. COMMERCIAL 1. One fall with a 15-minute time limit: In a mild upset, The Midnight Express (w/Bobby Heenan) are defeated by The Rougeau Brothers in 14:23. Jacques appeared to injure his left shoulder early in the match and was pounded on by the Express for most of the last ten minutes. Late in the match, Eddie Gilbert and Tony Garea stand behind Bobby Heenan. Heenan turns around and starts screaming at them, which distracts Dennis Condrey long enough for Raymond to tag in and roll him up for a pin. JHawk Posted March 11, 2016 Author Report Share Posted March 11, 2016 March 10, 1984 – WWA Superstar Challenge (airing as Wrestling at the Chase in St. Louis, MO) airing live from the WTTV Studios in Indianapolis, IN David McLane welcomes us to the show and announces the main event tonight will be Nick Bockwinkel defending the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Title against the top contender, “Gentleman” Chris Adams. This brings out Nick Bockwinkel, who admits the actions of Bobby Heenan as of late have been a distraction, as he is worried that Heenan will not be his manager in two weeks time, but he vows not to allow it to take away from the match. Heenan then comes out to the interview area and says not to worry about him, as there is no way his Midnight Express won’t walk away without the Central States Tag Team Titles, so he’ll always be in Bockwinkel’s corner. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 1. One fall with a 10-minute time limit: Dan Spivey (w/Matt Borne) pinned Jerry Grey with a bulldog in just 30 seconds. After the match, Borne and Spivey hit the interview area. Borne again brags about running Mike Rotundo out of the WWA and puts the rest of the promotion on notice. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- McLane interviews Gary Hart, who has Black Gordman and Goliath with him. Hart announces that Goliath has an announcement to make. Goliath says that while he has had a great career, over the last few years injuries have caught up to him and that the time has come for him to retire. He says he wants to have one final match next week at Shamrocks and Shenanigans, and he can think of no better opponent than his long time partner, Black Gordman. Gordman and Hart both look surprised, and Goliath explains that over the years, a lot of people asked who is the better of the two. Now, he wants one match against his long time partner just to say the match happened. Gordman thinks about it for a few minutes, but eventually agrees and shakes Goliath’s hand. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 2. One fall with a 30-minute time limit for the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Championship: Chris Adams defeated Nick Bockwinkel© (w/Bobby Heenan) by disqualification in 10:26. Adams hits Bockwinkel with the superkick and goes for the pin, but Heenan broke up the pin. After the bell, Adams superkicks Heenan and lays him out cold. The Midnight Express come out to the ring and begin screaming at McLane for what just happened to Heenan. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- The Midnight Express are at ringside still yelling, and Bockwinkel comes over and calls Adams a coward. So Bockwinkel has a proposal for Adams. Next week, he wants a six man tag match where he teams with the Midnight Express. He wants Adams to team with Common Ground and find a cornerman. Heenan will be in their corner. The cornermen will carry white flags, and the only way to win the match is for the cornerman to prove himself a coward and wave the flag to force his team to surrender. “And if, by some fluke, your team wins this match, then later that night at Shamrocks and Shenanigans, I will give you one more shot at this belt.” 3. One fall with a 10-minute time limit: Jimmy Snuka pinned Zoltan the Great with the Superfly Leap in 5:28. McLane interviews Snuka after the match. A short interview with Snuka saying he will be the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion after he defeats Ric Flair at Shamrocks and Shenanigans. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 4. One fall with a 15-minute time limit: The Rougeau Brothers defeated Jerry Valiant & Sheik Abdullah in 11:06 when Jacques pinned Abdullah with le Bombe de Rougeau. Most in the crowd are surprised that Valiant and Abdullah got as much offense in as they did. During the match, McLane announces The Rougeau Brothers will face The Zambuie Express at Shamrocks and Shenanigans. After the match, Dory Funk Jr. and James J. Dillon are at the interview area. Dillon says he just received word that Funk will be facing Harley Race next Saturday night at Shamrocks and Shenanigans. Dillon says Race might think he has the advantage since he defeated Dory for the NWA World Title, but that was over ten years ago. It’s time to stop living in the past and start living in the present. McLane then runs down the card as it stands now for Shamrocks and Shenanigans: -The Rougeau Brothers vs. The Zambuie Express-Harley Race vs. Dory Funk Jr.-Goliath’s retirement match: Black Gordman vs. Goliath-NWA Central States Tag Team Title vs. Bobby Heenan’s career: The Midnight Express vs. Common Ground©-NWA World Heavyweight Title: Jimmy Snuka vs. Ric Flair© McLane then announces that during the break, Chris Adams and Common Ground accepted the challenge of Nick Bockwinkel and the Midnight Express for the Coward Waves the Flag Match for TV next week. In their last match as a team, Black Gordman & Goliath defeated Jim Powers & Jerry Grey in 4:25. 3. Bobby Colt pinned Ken Larsen in 5:42. 4. In a coward waves the flag match, Chris Adams & Common Gorund (w/surprise cornerman Dick the Bruiser) defeated Nick Bockwinkel & The Midnight Express (w/Bobby Heenan) in 8:46 when Heenan swung his flag to try to keep Bruiser at bay and the referee mistook it for waving the flag in surrender; as a result, Bockwinkel would be forced to defend the Missouri Heavyweight Championship against Adams at Shamrock and Shenanigans. agentofenton Posted March 23, 2016 Report Share Posted March 23, 2016 Bobby Heenan is gone from the WWA?! WHAT?! So much going on here, Larry Z defending the championship twice in the same day! It's so weird to me that Harley Race and Dory Funk Jr. wrestle in the 3rd match on the card AND go under 10 minutes! It just shows the strength of your roster and the programs you have built for these big-time shows. The tag team matches look like they would be fun to see live. I'm still shocked Bobby Heenan is gone, and it seem to hurt Bockwinkel as he drops the Missouri Title. Flair and Snuka still haven't settled anything. Fun shows, I really like what you have going on. Looking forward to see what happens going forward with certain players you have. Bockwinkel and the Midnight's without their manager, Flair/Snuka still have an issue over the World Title, new challengers for championships. Very good job! I bet behind the scenes some arguing was being done about going under 10 minutes. I do like the results for this show. I think I will echo the biggest shock was seeing chris Adams defeat Bock and take the Missouri title. Pretty surprised by that I am a huge fan of Bock. So I don't know if I could have pulled the trigger on that title change. So props to you for doing that. Flair and Snuka is a match that would be a lot of fun to see. Flair has been battling all over the world and this might be one of the toughest challenges. I am a fan of the Bobby Heenan angle. So many possibilities can happen and I am excited for it. He introduces the replacement, Dick the Bruiser. Bruiser announces that in order to accept the position as WWA Commissioner that he can no longer compete in a WWA ring without prior approval from the WWA Board of Directors. He also apologizes for the recent hiatus but says that every WWA title will be on the line tonight, including the NWA World Heavyweight Title as Ric Flair will defend the title against Jimmy Snuka in a rematch of the last two USA specials, and this time it will take place in a steel cage. 1. One fall with a 15-minute time limit for the NWA Midwest Television Title: Larry Zbyszko© went to a time limit draw against Harley Race. 2. No Disqualification Match: Bobo Brazil pinned Brickhouse Brown with a Coco Butt in 7:14. 3. One fall with a 20-minute time limit: Les Thornton pinned Jim Powers with a double underhook suplex in 3:27. 4. One fall with a 20-minute time limit: Keith Larsen pinned Zoltan the Great with a high cross body in 2:27. 5. One fall with a 30-minute time limit for the NWA Central States Tag Team Championship: Common Ground© defeated The O Zone in 12:41 when Eddie Gilbert pinned Jerry Oske with a small package. One fall with a one hour time limit for the NWA World Tag Team Championship: Mando & Chavo Guerrero© defeated Matt Borne & Dan Spivey in 14:23 when Chavo pinned Spivey with the moonsault. 8. One fall with a one hour time limit for the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Championship: In a controversial finish, Chris Adams© appeared to pin Nick Bockwinkel with a bridging back suplex in 46:21; however, referee Connie Marker ruled that Adams’ shoulders were also down on the pinfall. Replays showed that Adams’ shoulders were indeed down but that Bockwinkel may have lifted a shoulder just as the third count hit the mat. During the intermission to set up the cage, David McLane interviewed Commissioner Dick the Bruiser. “We have never had an ending like this to a title match in the history of WWA. We have a situation here where the champion was clearly pinned, and it appears the challenger may have kicked out in time but there’s just no way to tell. So here’s what we have. Chris Adams is no longer the Missouri Heavyweight Champion.” At this point, Bockwinkel interrupts and asks for the belt, but Bruiser cuts him off. “However, since the referee’s ruling was that Bockwinkel was also pinned, I have no choice but to rule the title vacant” (Bockwinkel: “That’s ridiculous!”) “and we will start a tournament for the title on television next week.” Bruiser walks off as Bockwinkel remains incredulous at the decision. 9. Steel Cage Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Ric Flair© pinned Jimmy Snuka in 14:25. Snuka had Flair bloody and in trouble when he climbed to the top rope, paused, and then climbed all the way up to the top rope. He went for the Superfly Splash, but Flair rolled out of the way, sending Snuka crashing to the canvas. Flair was able to drape an arm over Snuka for the pin. You have a Hall of Fame roster and they are all doing great work. Welcome back form sabbatical and look forward to more great shows. Loved the ending to the Snuka/Flair match as well as the Adams/Bockwinkle match. Good job by the Bruiser getting that TV Tourny going right away. As the match ended, Bockwinkel continued his promo, stating that he was searching for a new manager, and by the time this tournament is over, he will have someone by his side to assure nothing like that happens again. McLane states we are out of time but the final two matches of the first round and, time permitting, the quarterfinals of the Missouri Title tournament will take place next week. Today, the remaining first round matches will take place, two of the lovely ladies of wrestling will be in action, and the second round of the tournament may start depending on remaining TV time. McLane reminds us that all first round tournament matches will have a 20-minute time limit. 1. First Round Match in the Missouri Title tournament: Nick Bockwinkel pins Eddie Gilbert in 2:30. Gilbert actually dominated the match from bell to bell, but missed a cross body off the top, which knocked the wind out of him just long enough for Bockwinkel to score the pin. McLane suggests that Bockwinkel needs to decide on a manager soon since he’s clearly off his game. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 2. One fall with a 10-minute time limit: Desiree Peterson pinned Judy Martin with a high cross body in 3:24. McLane speculates that Peterson may be in line for a shot at the Fabulous Moolah’s ladies title. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 3. The final first round match in the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Title Tournament: Jacques Rougeau pinned brother Raymond Rougeau in an instant classic. After a largely scientific affair, Raymond took Jacques down with an O’Connor roll, but Jacques rolled through it into one of his own for the pin at 15:29. The brothers shook hands after the match. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- McLane is at the interview area with WWA commissioner Dick the Bruiser, and they run over the second round matches: Chris Adams vs. Harley RaceBob Roop vs. Jimmy SnukaDory Funk Jr. vs. Bobo BrazilNick Bockwinkel vs. Jacques Rougeau Bruiser praises the effort everybody put in for the first round and is looking forward to these second round matches later on tonight. Bruiser does state that he is going to do something never done before for the final four and will give more details about that next week. Bruiser announces that the second round matches will all be one fall with a 30-minute time limit. Those matches are next. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 4. Second Round Match in the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Title tournament: Harley Race pinned Chris Adams with a fisherman suplex in 5:14. Adams set Race up for a backdrop, and Race immediately put the suplex on for the pin. McLane says that while it’s not an upset, it’s a surprise as many people thought Adams was destined for the finals. Race offers a hand after the match, and Adams hesitates before taking it. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 5. Second Round Match in the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Title tournament: Bob Roop defeated Jimmy Snuka by countout in 7:10. Snuka was in control late in the match and sent Roop tumbling to the floor with a jumping headbutt. Snuka then took a big risk, climbing to the top turnbuckle and diving toward Roop, but Roop moved out of the way and Snuka crashed hard to the concrete floor. McLane pointed out that the risk cost Snuka the NWA World Title two weeks ago in the cage and now it costs him here. And with that, McLane mentions the remaining second round matches would take place next week plus Dick the Bruiser’s announcement regarding the final two rounds of the tournament. Also, NWA Midwest Television Champion Larry Zbyszko will defend the championship. But first, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair will be in studio next week, and we cut to a pretaped interview with Flair where he says he isn’t sure who he’ll be facing next week on WWA TV, but whoever it is will end up like Jimmy Snuka did after facing him: A broken and defeated man. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 1. One fall with a 10-minute time limit for the NWA Midwest Television Championship: Larry Zbyszko successfully defended the championship, pinning NWA Central States Tag Team Champion Eddie Gilbert with a piledriver in 6:26. Gilbert appeared to win the title less than a minute earlier with a flying dropkick, but Zbyszko just barely got a foot on the rope. After the match, Zbyszko set Gilbert up for another piledriver before Gilbert’s partner, Tony Garea, made the save. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- Tony Garea joins David McLane at the interview area. “It’s no secret, Zbyszko, that you and I have a long history together. Tonight, the quarterfinals of the Missouri Title tournament will conclude, and following the final match of the quarterfinal round, WWA Commissioner will make an important announcement regarding the final four competitors in that tournament. Also, NWA Midwest Television Champion Larry Zbyszko will defend the championship. But first, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair will be in studio next week, and we cut to a pretaped interview with Flair where he says he isn’t sure who he’ll be facing next week on WWA TV, but whoever it is will end up like Jimmy Snuka did after facing him: A broken and defeated man. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 1. One fall with a 10-minute time limit for the NWA Midwest Television Championship: Larry Zbyszko successfully defended the championship, pinning NWA Central States Tag Team Champion Eddie Gilbert with a piledriver in 6:26. Gilbert appeared to win the title less than a minute earlier with a flying dropkick, but Zbyszko just barely got a foot on the rope. After the match, Zbyszko set Gilbert up for another piledriver before Gilbert’s partner, Tony Garea, made the save. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- Tony Garea joins David McLane at the interview area. “It’s no secret, Zbyszko, that you and I have a long history together. Former tag team champions together up in New York. So I respect you, and at one point I considered you a friend. But what you just tried to do to Eddie Gilbert is unforgivable. That kid suffered severe neck injuries in a car accident this time last year, and you tried to exploit that not to win a match, but to try to end his career. Why don’t you try to take me out like that, Zbyszko? Because I’m right here waiting for you!” ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 2. NWA Missouri Heavyweight Title Tournament Quarterfinal (One fall with a 30-minute time limit): Dory Funk Jr. (w/James J. Dillon) pinned Bobo Brazil in 11:16 when Brazil passed out to the pain of a spinning toehold. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 3. NWA Missouri Heavyweight Title Tournament Quarterfinal (One fall with a 30-minute time limit): In an almost dead even match, Nick Bockwinkel pinned Jacques Rougeau when he reversed Rougeau’s inside cradle into one of his own and grabbed a handful of trunks in 21:49. McLane acknowledges that we have almost run out of TV time for this week, but our affiliates are providing us a few extra minutes for Dick the Bruiser’s announcement, which is coming up next. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- David McLane brings Dick the Bruiser out to the interview area and asks what the big announcement is. Bruiser praises the athletic of all four of our remaining competitors, and he says that the standard format of three individual one-on-one matches could lead to three of the greatest matches in history. “But here in WWA, we strive to be different. Also, All four competitors in the marathon match for Missouri Title in two weeks will square off in a tag team match later on. But first, McLane brings out the Guerreros and announces that last night, they lost the NWA World Tag Team Championship to the Fantastics in New Orleans. As highlights of the match air, the Guerreros praise The Fantastics for their tremendous ability but say they want a rematch in WWA territory because they feel the result will be different. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 1. One fall with a 10-minute time limit: Hector Guerrero defeated Les Thornton by submission to a version of the Indian deathlock in 7:25. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 2. One fall with a 15-minute time limit: Matt Borne & Dan Spivey defeated The O Zone in 1:55 when Spivey pinned Jerry O with a bulldog headlock. After the match, Borne and Spivey make their way to the interview area and tell David McLane that their new focus is on the Central States Tag Team Title and issue a challenge to Common Ground for the titles. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 3. One fall with a 15-minute time limit: Bob Roop & Dory Funk Jr. defeated Harley Race & Nick Bockwinkel in 8:29 when Roop pinned Race with a rolling cradle, using the trunks for leverage. Bockwinkel never tagged into the match and seemed unwilling to do so. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 4. One fall with a 15-minute time limit: The Youngbloods defeated The Midnight Express in 4:33 when Jay Youngblood pinned Randy Rose with a flying Tomahawk chop. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- Chris Adams joins David McLane at the announce table and says while he’s disappointed that he wasn’t able to make the finals of the Missouri Title tournament, he wants a shot at Ric Flair and the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Hearing this as he heads to the ring, Flair approaches the table and tells Adams to watch and learn from the master. 5. Non-title match scheduled for one fall with TV time remaining: NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair pinned Keith Larsen with a small package in 8:29 in a surprisingly competitive match. Larsen appeared to win the match with a flying dropkick only moments before, but Flair got a foot on the rope a split second before referee Connie Marker got the three count. After the match, Adams told Flair as he headed to the locker room “all I learned was how close you can come to losing when you underestimate an opponent.” An angry Flair slapped Adams in the face, and that led to a brawl where several wrestlers came in to separate them as the show went off the air. The WWA is focused on the big four man marathon match to take place next week for the vacant Missouri Heavyweight Title. Tonight, all four of those men will be action, plus Larry Zbyszko will defend the NWA Midwest Television Title. But first, earlier this week, Gary Hart issued an open challenge to any tag team to face the Zambuie Express in a bunkhouse match, and that match is first. 1. Bunkhouse Match (come as you are, anything goes) scheduled for one fall to a finish: The Zambuie Express (w/Gary Hart) defeated The O Zone in 9:35 when Kareem Muhammed pinned Steve Olsonoski with a splash. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- Tony Garea joins McLane at the announce table. Garea says that two weeks ago, he issued a challenge to Larry Zbyszko for the Midwest Television Title, but Zbyszko has not only refused to respond to the challenge, but instead is defending the title against somebody else instead. Title or no title, Garea says he will get his hands on Zbyszko. With that, Zbyszko comes out and says he is tired of Garea coming out, claiming he was the better half of their team when they were in the northeast, and that he is going to give Garea a chance to put his money where his mouth is. “I’m scheduled to defend my title tonight against a veteran by the name of Bobby Colt, who was once a World Champion here in WWA. But if you’re willing to face Colt, and you beat him, I’ll grant you his shot at the title instead.” Garea agrees, and Colt comes out beginning to argue with Zbyszko, claiming it isn’t his decision to make. WWA Commissioner Dick the Bruiser then comes out, says “You’re right. Champions don’t make the matches. I do. But that’s a great idea, so it’s going to happen right now.” ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 2. One fall to determine the challenger for the NWA Midwest Television Championship: Bobby Colt pinned NWA Central States Tag Team Champion Tony Garea in 5:29 when Larry Zbyszko tripped Garea while referee Johnny Shorn had his back turned. Garea protested to deaf ears. 3. One fall with a 10-minute time limit for the NWA Midwest Television Championship: Larry Zbyszko© defeated Bobby Colt by disqualification in 2:29 when Garea interfered. Zbyszko left the ring and ran to the back before Garea could do any more damage. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 4. One fall with a 15-minute time limit: The match between Bob Roop, Dory Funk Jr. (w/James J. Dillon) & Nick Bockwinkel vs. Keith Larsen, Jerry Grey & Billy Anderson ended in a no contest in just 48 seconds when Lord Humongous entered the ring, grabbed referee Connie Marker by the throat, and slammed him to the mat. Roop, Funk and Bockwinkel left the ring while Humongous laid out Larsen, Grey and Anderson. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 5. Harley Race pinned Les Thornton with a belly-to-belly suplex in 5:01. ----------COMMERCIAL---------- 6. One fall with TV time remaining: NWA Central States Tag Team Champion Eddie Gilbert (w/Tony Garea) defeated Dan Spivey (w/Matt Borne) by disqualification in 12:42. Late in the match, Borne attacked Garea from behind and rammed him head first into the ringpost. Moments later, Lord Humongous emerged from the locker room and grabbed Gilbert by the throat, taking him down with the same move that he took the referee down with earlier in the evening.
