Ember is the act that wrestling needs, and from one crowd's opinion, the act they want. Great finish, great showing. Asuka's long term rival if they want it, and good on them for keeping the NXT women's division interesting with a new contender.

Almas was supposed to be the next big star. Now he's presumably putting over a new wrestler in his debut match, Roode. Wow, what a fall from grace. But Almas has been terrible so far.

Crowd is wyling the hell out at Roode's theme song. Can we give propers to NXT for rehabbing all of TNA's recent stars? Andrade by comparison is met with boos followed by nada.

I actually think they've done a pretty good job of getting the crowd to get behind Almas a bit by him out "flashing" Roode.

Crowd loves Roode and hates Andrade. Authentic Brooklyn crowd feedback: "Cien stole Randy Savage's pants!" I can affirm on La Sombra's behalf that it's hard to be such a pretty man in a sea of scrubs.

Fun match. Almas may have turned a corner. Roode's finisher looks weak as hell though.

Honestly, they mostly seem to be pretty over the day they show up. Just a question of being in a place where people are more receptive to the good work they were already doing. Plus, it helps that Roode got a kickass new theme.

I think this is a case of presentation. Roode gets an awesome entrance and theme, and Cien just hasn't had the same cool type of presentation in his build.

Yeah Aries and Roode in NXT are really not that different than in TNA. Well Roode is more what he used to be before that Beer Money stuff began. Hell they have the same finishers and moveset. It is just they are in a company where things seem to matter

Well apparently Crazy Mary Dobson has signed a WWE contract so maybe it is less Shield and a better version of Decay

LOL at WWE being sloppy about how transparent the "front row VIPs" are just being trotted out to the same row over and over for one match and the "look who is in attendance for Takeover" shots.

Revival has some of the best double teams and best distract the ref spots. I don't think I have seen the "accidentally fall over the ropes" spot before but it was brilliant

Dawson using the "I'm gonna fake a punch so you duck to set up the DDT" Arn Tribute was just the fucking best.

Surprising number and volume of "Johnny Wrestling" chants. Surreal to see Gargano go from La Boom to Barclays in a month. Loved the ref missing the blind tag. Crowd screaming "Tap!" only to have it broken up by Dash would have gotten an equivalent pop in '86 Crockett. Crowd screams at the top of its lungs for the faces and audibly boost the heels, once Parv's nerve gas sets in. Surprisingly smart match: even if they're taking three months to plot out these Takeover bouts and having them blessed by Sara Del Ray in some blood sacrifice temple, they are still outstanding and clearly the product of long term planning.

Over the last few years I would poke around EVOLVE and DG USA shows and always walked away not understanding the hype for Johnny Gargano and was always left a little cold.

 

But between the Cruiserweight Classic match against Ciampa and the final stretch of tonight's match, I am all-in on "plucky underdog" Johnny Gargano.

They will be teaching future tag teams with this match for years. Revival is the perfect blend of old school Crockett heel wrestling and the new style

What a match, they had the crowd in the palm of their hands the whole way. That's darn near the WWE MOTY, I think. Never thought the guy who took a piss next to me at Eddie Deen's Ranch in Dallas a few months ago would have 12000 people chanting "Johnny Wrestling" at him. So happy to see great, old school work like this on a big stage.
