Complete spoilers from PWI:

Dark Match:

Nunzio and Vito defeated Danny Doring and Scott Wright.

Velcocity:

Ken Kennedy came out with his new T-Shirt to push the sales. He forced Tony Chimell to wear the shirt.

Jamie Noble beat Scotty 2 Hotty with a Dragon Sleeper.

The Gymini defeated Billy Baxx and Lee Great.

Paul Burchill pinned Nick Berk.

Mexicools beat the Dicks after Road Warrior Animal came out and shoved one of the Dicks off the top, setting up Crazy hitting a top rope swinging DDT for the pin. Animal then laid out the Mexicools afterwards.

Smackdown:

WWE World champion Batista came to the ring with Teddy Long and announced he was injured last Sunday against Mark Henry. He said that he will not be able to work through the injury and he'll be out because he needs surgery. He said when he won the title, his friend Paul told him to enjoy to enjoy the ride and was said he was proud to represent the WWE and the fans. He said he had no choice but to surrender the World title and handed it to Long. He said that he will return and he will be World champion again and until then whoever has the title is only holding a belt because they didn't beat Batista.

They showed Batista leaving with agents and officials wishing him good luck on his recovery. Batista hugged Rey Mysterio goodbye.

In the ring, Teddy Long announced a Battle Royal for the WWE World title.

Randy Orton asked Long to postpone his match against Chris Benoit so he could compete in the battle royal. Long turned him down and said he and Benoit would only be in one match tonight.

Orton vs. Chris Benoit: Nick Patrick ejects Booker T and Sharmell. Patrick was bumped. Orton went for the RKO but Orlando Jordan ran out. Orton hit him. Benoit locked on the crossface and Orton tapped but there was no ref. Booker hit Benoit with the belt and Orton made the cover. Booker was announced as the new United States champ. A long match.

Backstage, Roddy Piper came across JBL and Jillian Hall. JBL asked Piper to have him as a guest on Piper's Pit instead of the Boogeyman. Piper turned him down but changed his mind after JBL insulted him.

They aired a video package on El Paso honoring the memory of Eddie Guerrero.

Piper's Pit: Piper noted the first Pit was here in Philly 22 years ago. He went to introduce JBL who came out before he had the chance. JBL ripped on Batista giving up the belt because he was hurt. JBL cut a long promo with Piper pretending to fall asleep. Piper began making fun of Jillian Hall's mole. Boogeyman came out. JBL shoved Hall into Boogey, who bit off her mole. She ran away screaming.

Main Event Battle Royal: Animal, Simon Dean, Nunzio, Vito. Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Orlando Jordan, William Regal, Paul Burchill. MNM. Mark Henry, The Mexicools, JBL, Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Sylvan. Bobby Lashley were in the ring when Kurt Angle, with Daivari, was announced as the surprise 20th competitor. He threw JBL out immediately. Henry and Angle brawled on the floor. Henry pressed and dropped him on the announcing table. It came down to Henry and Rey. The entire place chanted for Eddie Guerrero. Rey got a ton of offense but was tossed out. Angle returned to the ring and faced off with Henry. Angle eventually eliminated him. Kurt Angle is your new WWE World champion. They had fireworks and confetti for the win.

Batista thanking his friend "Paul". I think that is the first time HHH has been referred to by his real name on WWE TV

Knoble/Scotty again on Velocity? They did the same match last week. I hope we get more of "Knoble kicking the crap out of Scotty" rather than "give Scotty the majority of the offense to make up for last week".

What this shows is a complete lack of faith in their current SD! roster.

Angle is a perfect transitional champion for Benoit, Rey, Orton and/or JBL. All four men want the belt, but not in something as cheap as a battle royal (although it does work with JBL). With Angle's gimmick, he's able to take the belt and the heat for people who want the belt back on Batista. If he gives it to Rey or Benoit at Mania, people are going to forget about Batista's reign until he's ready to return.

As for putting the belt up at the Rumble, I think they would've been booked into a corner with that. Sure, Angle wins the title there, but they would have no direction for either Mania title challenger. Who would be challenging Edge and the eventual Rumble winner (perhaps Angle) at Mania? Would dual-brand tournaments decide that? That is the only reasonable explanation I have.

Am I the only one who read the thread title and thought "Wow, Edge dropped the title ALREADY?"

I thought the same thing as well. Wouldn't have surprised me if that was the case either.

From this week's Figure Four, which came out tonight...

All I know is that as of Tuesday night, the plan was to completely rebook WrestleMania, so all previous plans (including Cena vs. Hunter and Orton vs. Batista), at least for now, are temporarily out the window.

BA also said that the crowd at the taping tonight was said to be very hot from the second Angle's entrance was announced, to the point where he won, which had the crowd going legitimately "apeshit".

EDIT: If you aren't subscribed to F4WOnline already, do it now. The next few weeks are going to be hectic backstage, and these issues and podcasts are going to be tremendous.

I think it's time to end the brand split and do a title vs. title for the main event of Wrestlemania. You have Cena win the belt back from Edge and then you do Angle/Cena to start off Mania and then the winner of the match faces the winner of the Royal Rumble in the main event.

The more reports I read, the more it sounds like Big Dave's speech was less "see you all when I get back from this injury" and more "that's all, folks".

He did say he was going to be World Champ again. I doubt he'd retiring.

I swear to God, I fell asleep and have woke up in anti-logic Bizarro world. This shit is ridiculous. Edge is World Champion and shagging on TV, Kurt Angle fucking switches brands on a whim and wins a world title (which makes me wonder why he didn't do this before rather than keep facing Cena) now I'm guessing Angle's going to defend the SD belt on RAW next week again 40 year old Shawn Michaels for what, the 5th time now in 10 months?

Rifuckingdiculous.

Well, although most of you may have hated the weeks developements in the WWE, I thought they added some great unpredictability, and not only that will most likely pull in more viewers.

I'm begging them to continue with Edge pushing the mark on TV, because he has been highly entertaining recently, even before his Title win.

Raw got the best rating its had in a year, and expect Smackdown to go up as well.

It isn't about the ratings at all, actually. They don't even matter, nor have they for years with them not running against a competing wrestling show on Monday nights, and especially now, when they will make exactly $0.00 off of Monday night's 4.3 rating. And besides, the very same people can't say in one breath to just be a fan and enjoy it and then point to higher ratings to support their case. You either ignore it all or you embrace it all; you can't do both at the same time. If No Way Out and Wrestlemania do record buyrates this year, obviously they've done something right. If not, they haven't.

Unfortunately, there is a really good chance that he may have to retire. He got the "one more triceps tear and you're history" speech back in 2002, and this was before the time he tore it while running with his wife during his rehabilitation for the bicep.

Alvarez did a really good write-up and podcast surrounding the injury, his past injuries and similar wrestlers with related problems, which Meltzer should follow up on with the Observer. They've got a F4W show together tomorrow night, which could go on for hours with everything that has happened.

It is about the ratings when you are trying to determine if more people are tuning in or tuning out. It is also a relevent item when the Fed even felt it was necessary to post it on their website.

Absolutely, rather than use it as the chance to push someone and create a new legitimate world title threat Vinec does what he always does in times of panic, chucks the belt on an old faithful.

Used to be the case that any time they were unhappy with ratings, or a bit unsure of what to do, they'd put the belt on HHH/Austin/Rock.

These days, it's HHH/Angle. It's a shame. A big world title tournament could have made great television and pushed some people along the way.
