From Meltzer:

--Ultimate Warrior, whose legal name, believe it or not, is now Warrior Warrior according to papers, has filed a lawsuit against WWE and Vince & Linda McMahon regarding the content of the "Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior" DVD.

I love how every time Vince tries to do something mean-spirited lately, it ends up biting him in the ass. Not that Warrior's famous public response doesn't most likely hurt his case.

I don't see how Warrior's response would hurt his case, since he didn't put it on DVD and ship it all across the world.

Hell, I don't think Warrior ever finished the DVD he *was* working on.

warrior warrior.

i hope nobody wins this thing. i hope the judge sets some new precedent where he deems neither party worthy of any money and makes both parties pay the state for time spent on the case.

Hell, it's not even just the mean-spirited stuff. EVERYTHING seems to be going against WWE nowadays. Batista got hurt. Mike Goldberg turned them down. People are fighting over trademarks. Bret turned down Homecoming and Survivor Series, etc.

If he charges defamation of character, the WWE's entire defense could consist of showing his UConn speech.

Are you talking about the mission statement?

I agree 100%. In fact, I want to go a step further and say I hope they both lose tons of money and are ridiculed even worse than they already are.

I hate to ever agree with Warrior about anything, but everyone knows that Vince put that DVD out just to bury him.

There's two problems with the lawsuit however:

1. It'll be impossible to prove intent, since Vince will just claim it was a work and everyone else who took part in the DVD will circle the kayfabe wagon around him.

2. Warrior isn't in the wrestling business anymore so it's going to be hard to claim the DVD damaged his future earning potential.

I disagree strongly with you about #2.

Warrior has been responsible for marketing and selling the Warrior name through comics and other merchandise. If the DVD damges his current sales and even his guest speaker appearances :) then you can make a valid case that the character attacks in the DVD contributed to that.

His comic didnt last more than like 6 issues. Its been at LEAST 5 years since an issues coming out. It occasionally gets mentioned at Wrestlecrap but thats cause of the issue were Warrior raped Santa Claus.and im for serious.

Other than his nonsense speeches at various once acceptable colleges he really hasnt sold/done anything worthwhile since the 90s.

But he was an unprofessional lunatic. :) He held up promoters for more money, no showed events and was a general pain in the ass to deal with. I'm not saying there weren't some factual inaccuracies and lies in the DVD, but the truth was often enough to bury him and he'll have a hard time proving those few lies did him any real damage. Really it's hard to have any sympathy for Warrior when WWE was open to working with him on the project, but he turned it down and then has the gall to complain about them not portraying him in the most flattering light possible.

I just saw that DVD. Man, they sure went after the man. It was like someone just shit in a bucket, and put that bucket in front of him while he had to sit under the ring.

One thing that goes overlooked is how the entire "documentary" part of the Warrior DVD is framed to justify modern wrestling booking practices of scripting everything and controlling a wrestler's character and gimmick. They constantly harp on the fact that it was the control and freedom that Warrior had with his whole deal that led to the mess. It's like listening to your parents tell you all the bad things you did as a kid as the reason you can't go out at nights on weekends, and it's better that way anyway because it's family night!

No, the flash page.

Loss makes a really good point, especially after that script of RAW hit the internet a short while ago and was as descriptive as it was.

If there are, then they'll likely dissapear very soon. Everything that can go wrong, seems to be going wrong for Vince and Co. Wondering what problems will come up next is more interesting than the televised product.

Not to mention Warrior can easily prove some of the things he was buried over are common wrestling practices since there was a houseshow recently where half the people no showed and none of the advertised matches took place.
