kevinmcfl
MID-SOUTH WRESTLING: 4/14/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Shreveport, Louisiana and the Irish McNeil’s Boys Club here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Jim Ross: Before we get to our first bout we just got to take a look at the video tape and see the main event from Lake Front Arena in New Orleans from this past week. VIDEO MATCH TOURNAMENT TO BECOME THE FIRST EVER UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMP DUSTY RHODES VS HACKSAW BUTCH REED The video starts with Dusty trapped in the huge arms of Reed in a massive Bearhug. Rhodes refuses to submit and Reed gets frustrated and throws the Dream to the ground. It is here that we see the strength of Reed has no bounds. Reed hoists the Dream up into a Gorilla Press Slam and goes for the cover. Somehow the Dream gets a foot on the ropes at the count of two. The Dream begins his come back here and just brushes off some Reed haymakers until he just goes wild. Rhodes follows up a Bionic Elbow with a Piledriver and appears on the verge of victory when the rest of Akbar’s goons hit the ring. Patera and Blackwell pummel Rhodes but the Dream does get the victory and moves on in the tournament. When we come out of the tape we see the Dream at the interview desk where he goes on for a minute or two about getting revenge on Akbar but then he refocuses himself about the UWF Tournament where he knows that one of the other contestants will be Jerry “The King” Lawler. This is what really sets him off as he has no respect for Lawler or his style. As Rhodes leaves the desk, both Ross and Ladd hype up the David VonErich Memorial Parade of Champions on May 4th in Dallas. Ross is concerned that Rhodes might underestimate Jerry Lawler as he reminds us that Lawler will do anything to when. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Ted Dibiase is at the interview desk and he is dressed to the nines in a Tuxedo and Jim Ross wants to know what is up. Ted Dibiase: I know these people is Shreveport are nothing more than pig farmers so I thought I would bring a little class to the show today. I also wanted to show these people what a real champion should look like. They sit there week in and week out and cheer for that dirty, bandana wearing, long haired hippie by the name of Jim Duggan. Just because he smells like you, don’t mean you should support him. I mean if his mommy raised him right, we would not have to put up with his disgusting ways. Well in just a few short weeks in Dallas at the David VonErich Memorial, I am going to beat Hacksaw Duggan and become a North American Champion you can be proud of. Jim Ross: Well I don’t know about that but what I do know is that it is time to get to the ring where the rest of your Rat Pack I am sure will have something up their sleeves. MATCH: THE RAT PACK (Eric Embry and Buddy Landel) REED, PATERA & BLACKWELL) VS BRETT SAWYER, MIKE GRAHAM A pretty even match here that actually saw the Rat Pack begging for mercy in the beginning. Eventually Eric Embry distracts the ref and Buddy Landell hit Mike Graham with a low blow. From there on it was basically over and the victory came when Landell slapped the Figure Four on Graham. As Landell is applying the pressure he is actually calling out the NWA champion Ric Flair as he is confident that he is the only true Nature Boy is the sport. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH JYD & GEORGE WELLS VS KIWI SHEEPHERDERS (Jonathan Boyd and Rip Morgan) A nasty main event where both teams have the advantage. Unfortunately for the fan favorites, JYD was brawling with Morgan on the outside when Boyd caught Wells with a nasty swinging neck breaker for the win. MATCH CHIRS BENOIT VS STEVE REGAL Regal plays an amazing heel here and Benoit seems to be very frustrated though out the match. Whether it was Regal stalling, playing scarred or refusing to break cleanly, Mr. Electricity did everything right in this match except for one thing. Benoit somehow kicked out a pin attempt after connected with a missile dropkick even though Regal had a hold of the tights. It was almost like a light went on here for Benoit and he decided what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Benoit stopped playing nice guy and really roughed it up here. IN the end, he connected with a high vertical suplex for the win! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- TERRY “BAM BAM” GORDY VS BOBBY JAGGERS Now Jaggers in no slouch but this is a different Gordy. He is all business and takes care of Jaggers in just a few minutes with a piledriver. Gordy heads right to the interview desk where you can tell he is fuming mad about how Dr. Death turned on him against the Sheiks. Gordy says that he is not upset at losing the titles but how could a friend do that. All of a sudden the crowd is murmuring as Dr. Death gets right in the face of Gordy. Dr. Death: Gordy, let’s not be so fast to forget brother. It was just last year I saved your behind from the beating of a lifetime at the hands of the Freebirds. Now I understand why they turned on you. You are nothing but a selfish, lazy waste of time. I carried you for as long as I could and then I just couldn’t take it anymore. If you think that I am going to back down from a challenge from you, you got another thing coming. The two get nose to nose and before all hell breaks loose, the locker room jobbers and officials rush out and try and keep the two monsters away from each other. Both Gordy and Williams break free a couple times and wrestle around on the floor. Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd really hype up this situation and wonder what is going to happen. Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport. Be sure to get out for our next UWF TV taping in Tulsa next week and for those anywhere near New Orleans this week, it is going to be a BIG ONE! SHOW ENDS WITH PROMOS FROM THIS WEEKS BIG CARD BATON ROUGE. _________________________________________________________________________

kevinmcfl
MID-SOUTH WRESTLING: 4/21/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 TULSA, OKLAHOMA NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE PERFECT ALLIANCE with BABY DOLL (Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton) UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: THE SHEIKS with SKANDAR AKBAR (Hacksaw Butch Reed, Crusher Blackwell & Ken Patera) UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: BILLY JACK HAYES Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Tulsa Convention Center here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Jim Ross is joined by the American Dream and together they hype up the UWF UNIFIED WORLD TITLE BOUT in the Cotton Bowl on May 4th at the David Von Erich Memorial. Ross really plays it off like a dire situation as it will be the Dream vs Jerry Lawler and another wrestler form the CCW. The Dream admits that it doesn’t look good but that he has seen much worse growing up in West Texas where it was hard enough just to be able to afford a meal and have decent cloths. He also goes on to explain when there are two snakes in one pit they often go after each other and that is exactly what he hopes happens here! Ross thanks Rhodes for his time and wishes the Dream luck tonight as he is about to take on the Japanese monster Rusher Kumura. MATCH DUSTY RHODES VS RUSHER KIMURA With Kimura already in the ring, Dusty begins to head to his match when all of a sudden three men wearing masks that appear like the University of Tennessee football helmet rush out and start to triple team Rhodes. They have their way with him for a minute or two before Jerry “The King” Lawler comes out. With what Lawler will later call the Tennessee Volunteer Army holding Rhodes, the King simply walks up to Rhodes a throws a fireball right in his face. The Army rushes away as Rhodes rolls around in agony and Jim Ross is screaming for a doctor. Ernie Ladd makes some of his most disgusting commetts ever here as he keeps wondering if the King is selling BBQ at his new restaurant. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: KEVIN VON ERICH & BLACKJACK MULLIGAN VS KELLY & NICK KINISKI Before the match, Jim Ross explains the the fans that it is a real treat to have Kevin VonErich in the arena tonight and that this sharing of talent between the USWA and Mid-South Wrestling is what makes the UWF so great. Throughout the match we hear Jim Ross wondering if Blackjack is going to be one of Kevin’s partners in the upcoming 6 Man World Title Match against the Sheiks as Kevin has been very secret on this matter over the last week. Ernie Ladd says that Kevin hasn’t said much because he has no friends and he will NEVER find two partners stupid enough to tag with him against the likes of the Sheiks. As for the match, the trouble really began for the Kiniskis before the bell sounded as the attacked Kevin and BJ early. This fighting style is just up Mulligan’s ally and together with Kevin, they pummeled the Kiniski brothers. The finish came when Blackjack had Kelly in the Brain Claw and tagged in Kevin for a huge VonErich Death Leap. Kevin and Blackjack head over to the interview desk where Blackjack is screaming about how he can’t stand Hacksaw Reed, Crusher Blackwell and Ken Patera. He couldn’t think of anything lower than three Americans siding with some Arab just for money. All of a sudden, Akbar comes out and he is actually laughing. Skandar Akbar: You two are funny guys. Very funny! You sit here up on your high horse about being Patriots while Kevin here was born with a silver spoon in his mouth as Daddy runs the company and Blackjack can’t seem to stay in a place for more than a couple of months as he just runs to the money each and every time. Well it is obvious that you two Cowboys are alone and I am not surprised that you couldn’t find anyone to join you but let me remind you that on May 4th, you will be facing my 3 monsters. Boys why don’t you come out. As Reed, Patera and Blackwell come out, Kevin informs everyone that they do have another teammate and he will be here in just one second. The Sheiks laugh as they think this is all a rues. CRACK….. the sound of a bull whip is heard and the crowd pops. Jim Ross: oh bawh Gawd! It’s Stan “The Man” Hansen. With Hansen cracking the whip and Blackjack and Kevin ready to attack, Akbar and his men make a quick exit. Stan Hansen: Look at Em Run! Well in Dallas, Texas and the Cotton Bowl, these three Cowboys will have you surrounded with no place to hide. We going to rip those towels off your heads and stick em down your throat! Oh and by the way, we will also be taking back our titles! Even Ernie Ladd is now excited for this match as he and Ross hype it up as we go to break. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes to the interview desk in a white tuxedo, sunglasses and his trusty 2 x 4. He starts by saying TedDibiase thinks that the cloths make the man and that the better you are dressed the more respect you are given. Duggan begins to rip the tuxedo to threads as he is screaming into the mic “that is a load of garbage!” These people here know I pour my heart and soul into each match for them. I respect them and they respect me and I will be damned if I will let a lowlife dressed in a monkey suit take my title. Dibiase’s motto is “the cloths make the man.” I have a different motto. A motto that this country has lived by. “Speak softly and carry a big stick. Dibiase, on May 4th in the Cotton Bowl you are going to know what this Big Stick feels like! MATCH: THE SOUTHERN REBELS (Buddy Roberts & Tom Prichard in Confederate flag masks) VS RANDY BABBER & JIMMY DEL RAY The Rebels enter the ring to Hank Williams Jr. and “A Country Boy Can Survive” and this has the Tulsa crowd hooked from the get go. The Rebels beat up on the jobbers here and the end comes in about 4 minutes when Rebel #1 caught Barber with a Running Bulldog. Before our next match both Ross and Ladd hype up how stacked this tag team division is getting and the Rebels have just made it even tougher. Ross rattles off the Road Warriors, The Perfect Alliance, the Tennessee Studs, The Rat Pack, the Sheiks, the Kiwi Sheepherders and now the Southern Rebels! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT JYD & BILLY JACK VS THE KIWI SHEEPHERDERS (Rip Morgan & Jonathan Boyd) This one is hot from the get go as Rip Morgan attacks Billy Jack with the flag pole before the match does start. Somehow order is restored and the ref calls for the bell and the match gets officially underway. Unfortunately for the fans, we run out of time before we get a decision here but anyone who saw it would call it a true brawl! Jim Ross: So long from Tulsa! LowBlowPodcast
I think after the big split things are starting to shape up. The intrigue on the Von Erich is going to be something to really follow and then to see who really jumps in to take the top spot. With Lawler freelancing and Dusty on top, this could spell some trouble for those involved. Meanwhile the tag division is getting bigger and better. UWF/USWA is heading in the right direction this summer.
GeneJackson95
JYD and BJH make an awesome babyface team! The King "fires" a huge shot in the TN vs. TX war...the Dream is going to be looking for revenge soon.
agentofenton
I agree that you have a really stacked tag team division. Your entire roster is stacked actually. May 4 is looking really awesome. The Texas vs Tennessee angle is incredible. Where it leads to and who else may get involved in the coming weeks is intriguing. kevinmcfl
THE COTTON BOWL DALLAS, TEXAS 5/4/1985: WTBS THE DAVID VON ERICH MEMORIAL PARADE OF CHAMPIONS “Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF Wrestling and DALLAS, TEXAS. We are coming to you live on WTBS from the world famous Cotton Bowl. I am Jim Ross along with Ernie Ladd. What a night it is going to be. We have 8 titles matches including the crowning of the first ever UWF Unified World Heavyweight Champion. All of these and more. Let’s not forget about the Steel Cage Match between Terry Gory and Dr. Death Steve Williams. Let’s get this jammed back night started! CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TAG TITLE MATCH (TITLES VS MASKS) JIMMY GOLDEN & ROBERT FULLER VS THE SUPER DESTROYERS Now here is some Southern Wrastlin at its best. Four men who like to duke it out are at each other from the get go. Body Slams, Haymakers, and some boot stompin here as somehow the champs survive. The end came with a little Bonzo Gonzo with all four men in the ring as Jimmy Golden was able to piledrive Super Destroyer #1 for the win. Jim Ross is really excited as he is wondering who the Super Destroyers really are. Golden and Fuller are allowed here to do the unmasking and they time it perfectly where each mask comes off at the exact same time. Jim Ross: Oh Bawh Gawd….. You won’t believe this. The Super Destroyers are none other than Bill and Scott Irwin. Business is about to get real nasty in the CCW Tag Team Division! __________________________________________________________________________ USWA WORLD TV TITLE MATCH: BILLY JACK HAYNES VS RUSHER KIMURA A typical power vs power match here as both men connected with some huge moves. Unfortunately for the champ, Kimura was just a bit more technically sound and a little bit quicker with the nasty stuff. The end came after Billy Jack was able to force Kimura back into the corner bit when he went to break, Kimura grabbed him by the back of the head and nailed him with a nasty headbutt right to the nose. BJ backed up as Rusher ran the ropes and came off with a nasty running lariat. Kimura turns to the fans and gives his Throat Slashing Sign. Kimura then calls for the Neckbreaker and Jim Ross let’s everyone know that if he connects with this, we will have a new UWF World TV Champion. Well connect he did, and we have our first title change of the night. _________________________________________________________________________ CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TITLE MATCH MR. OLYMPIA VS THE GREAT KABUKI This bout goes about 12 minutes and we see a nice back and forth match. Mr. Olympia uses some good mat skills here while Kabuki goes right to the chops and nerve holds. Eventually we get a nice brawl. Olympia gains control at about the 10 minute mark and has Kabuki in some trouble. The masked Mr. Olympia rushes in a little too quickly and Kabuki resorts to some dirty tactics here with a Martial Arts chop right to the throat. The ref goes to check on the champion but Kabuki goes into his mysterious spin and then comes right at Mr. Olympia. Without hesitation, Kabuki sprays the green mist right into the eyes of Mr. Olympia and the ref immediately calls for the bell and DQ’s Kabuki. Mr. Olympia is rolling around on the floor in agony as Kabuki threatens more martial arts. Somehow the ref restores order as Jim Ross is sure that we have not seen the last of this big feud! __________________________________________________________________________ UWF World Tag Team Title Match THE PERFECT ALLIANCE (Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton) with Baby Doll VS THE ROAD WARRIORS with PAUL ELLERING Prior to the match Baby Doll walks right up to Paul Ellering and smacks him across the face. She seems to be the only one who is not afraid. Arn and Eaton play the scared game really well here as they cower behind the ref, jump in and out of the ring and actually go on their knees and beg for mercy. It didn’t matter as once the Road Warriors caught them it was violence times 10. Eventually Baby Doll was able to distract the ref and Arn caught Hawk with a low blow. With Hawk in trouble, Arm lifted him up and connected with a Spine Buster. He quickly tags in Eaton who goes for the Alabama Jam but Animal got up quickly and actually caught Eaton with a nasty clothesline as Eaton dove off the ropes. Animal hoisted Eaton onto his shoulders as he tagged in Hawk who climbed to the top rope and leaped off with a second nasty clothesline. Eaton flipped down to the canvas and as Hawk made the cover, Animal clocked Anderson to make sure he couldn’t make the save. Baby Doll was the Perfect Alliance’s last chance and as she jumped up on the apron, Ellering got his revenge by coming up behind her and pulling down those tight leather pants. Baby Doll, embarrassed ran for the hills as the ref made the three count. Jim Ross: And we have new UWF World Tag Team Champions! __________________________________________________________________________ STEEL CAGE MATCH TERRY “BAM BAM” GORDY VS “DR. DEATH” STEVE WILLIAMS This match is just what you would expect from these two. A bloody brawl from beginning to end with power moves coming from both. Many of the momentum turns came after one or the other being tossed full force into the steel cage. At one point, the ref gets knocked down but Gordy and Williams could care less as they just continue to go at it. All of a sudden, two members of the Rat Pack, Eric Embry and Buddy Landell, scurry toward the ring and start to scale the cage. It looks like it is going to be 3-1 here but then the crowd pops. It is Michael Hayes coming to the rescue. He grabs both Emery and Landell and throws them off the cage. Dr. Death loses focus here and Bam Bam tosses him head first into the cage. Williams hits hard and staggers toward the center of the ring where Bam Bam now comes off the ropes for a huge running lariat. He then scoops up Dr. Death and somehow climbs to the middle rope for a second rope powerbomb for the victory. When the match has ended, Michael Hayes enters the ring and for the first time in almost a year the two shake hands and give a big embrace! _________________________________________________________________________ USWA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH KERRY VON ERICH with PRECIOUS VS JIMMY GARVIN with NANNY SIMPSON After Garvin walked out arm in arm with his new valet, Precious was fuming and went after Nanny Simpson who ran for the hills. As for the match inside the ring, Garvin actually showed some wrestling skills and had control for a while with leg scissors and chin locks. Soon the crowd got behind Kerry who scooped up Garvin for a Big Slam and then weakened his opponent with various claw holds. The end came when Kerry caught Garvin with a Tornado Punch for the victory. After the three count, Precious came in and got right in Garvin’s face. He tried to play it off that he still cared for her. WHAM! Jimmy Garvin finds out exactly what that loaded purse feels like! Jim Ross: Well the David VonErich Memorial starts off just the way it should; with Kerry VonErich defending his USWA Heavyweight Title! __________________________________________________________________________ UWF NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN VS TED DIBIASE In a strange turn of events, Dibiase plays it clean here in the beginning and that is just because he is clearly the better wrestler then Hacksaw. Unfortunately it didn’t getting him anywhere and Dibiase got frustrated. After refusing to break cleanly, things picked up and the crowd really got into it. In another obvious dirty trick, Dibiase throws Hacksaw into the ring post hoping to injure that shoulder so that Duggan can’t use his big football tackle. Dibiase continues to stay on top but can’t get the victory. He knocks Dibiase into the ref and heads out of the ring for a chair. Dibiase swings with all of his might but Duggan ducks. Dibiase loses his balance and the chair goes flying. Hacksaw picks it up and has Dibiase trapped. Dibiase goes to his knees and begs for Mercy! WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! No Mercy shown here. DING DING DING! Unfortunately the ref saw Duggan hit Dibiase with the chair and calls for the bell. Hacksaw doesn’t seem to care that he lost the match and goes for the 2 X 4. Officials rush down the aisle in droves and prevent any more violence. Jim Ross: Bah Gawd, I can’t believe what I have just seen. Duggan has had enough of Dibiase’s shenanigans and went absolutely wild. Ernie Ladd: Duggan should be stripped of that title and suspended indefinitely! Jim Ross: Come on now Big Cat, who brought the chair into the ring? Ernie Ladd: Dibiase was just getting a chair to help the ref who Duggan hit! Jim Ross: Now I have heard it all. Well, Dibiase wins the bout but Hacksaw retains his title! Ernie Ladd: That is one flawed rule! __________________________________________________________________________ UWF WORLD 6 MAN TITLE Match: TEXAS TORNANDO MATCH THE SHIEKS with SKANDAR AKBAR (HACKSAW REED, KEN PATERS & CRUSHER BLACKWELL) VS KEVIN VON ERICH. BLACKJACK MULLIGAN & STAN HANSEN Texas Tornado Style has all 6 men in the ring at once and you could imagine what that means! Total Chaos from the opening bell to the end. You almost had to feel sorry for the ref as there was no way to watch everything. This allowed Akbar to have numerous opportunities to interfere in the match. A trip here, a punch there but the fan favorites were always able to overcome it. The violence often spilled out onto the floor and the end came with Reed and Hansen exchanging blows on the outside of the ring and Patera and Mulligan duking it out half way up entrance ramp. That left Kevin all alone with Crusher. In an amazing move for a 410 pounder, Blackwell actually connected with a drop kick and knocked Kevin to the mat. He then climbed to the second rope and came off with a Mid Rope Flying Elbow Drop! WHAM! At the last second, Kevin slipped out of the way. Akbar sensed trouble and rushed into the ring where he was met with a drop kick himself. Akbar actually staggered back and landed on top of Crusher who was reeling from the miss. Kevin looked around and climbed to the top rope for a Von Erich Barefooted Death Splash. Kevin soars through the air and….. WHAM! Kevin lands on top of Akbar who is on top of Crusher. Kevin quickly covers Crusher and gains the 3 count. Jim Ross: And we have new Champions! __________________________________________________________________________ UWF UNIFIED WORLD TITLE MATCH: THE AMERICAN DREAM DUSTY RHODES VS JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER VS AUSTIN IDOL Jim Ross: Before we get started, let’s make sure everyone understands the rules here. First wrestler to record a pin or submission will be the new UWF Unified World Champion. Two wrestlers will start while the other must stay on the apron until he is tagged in As the match gets ready to start we see Idol and Lawler coming up with a plan and the Dream is standing alone. Dusty starts off against Idol and he quickly takes the top. Idol and Lawler’s plan seems to be to make a lot of quick tags in the beginning to each other but never tagging Rhodes out. Jim Ross wonders how long Dusty can last in this glorified handicap match will Ernie Ladd hopes it will not be for long. A completely worn out Rhodes somehow falls into the King and the ref signals that it was a legal tag. Ross is excited that the Dream will get a chance to rest but it seems like this might have all been part of the plan. Idol and Lawler smile at each other and now they go at it head to head with no tags. It seems like the match has turned into a singles match for the title between Idol and Lawler. Both wrestlers are able to get the other in their signature finishers only to have Dusty rush in a make the save. Idol had Lawler trapped in the Figure 4 only to have Dusty come in and stomps on Idol for a bit until the ref finally pushed him out. The same thing happened after a middle rope fist drop by Lawler. The same thing goes on for about 8 minutes and the crowd has caught on and they are really enjoying Idol and the King beating on each other. Lawler has taken a good deal of punishment but connects with back to back piledrivers only to watch Rhodes come in and make the saves. Rhodes in enjoying this and just waves an “I got ya” finger at Lawler. Lawler is fuming now as he throws Idol through the middle ropes but it was too close to the Dream who tags himself back into the match. Lawler plays the frightened game well here but he is truly exhausted. In now time at all, Rhodes has connected with a Bionic Elbow and know has Lawler up for his own Texas sized piledriver. WHAM Piledriver on Lawler with Idol nowhere around to make the save. 1... 2... 3. Jim Ross hypes up the fact that Dusty has outsmarted them all and gotten even with Jerry Lawler! Ernie Ladd: I have seen it all and now I am going to be sick! Jim Ross: What a night it has been for the VonErichs and Dusty Rhodes! So long from Dallas! gordi
What an absolutely great supercard: Title changes, story-lines concluding, a bunch of great matches, and an epic main event. Everything you could ask for from a big card. With the Parade of Champions, WrestleMania, The Rougeau Cup... you'd have to imagine that the Apter Mags in this universe are running special double-sized issues with big colour spreads of all the huge events. LowBlowPodcast
Very fun show with some spectacular finishes and happenings. It is just too bad David has died as he would be such a great attribute to any promotion and would be a special person to have right here in the UWF. Dusty as champ is the right direction but part of me wonders if it wasn't time to cash in on Idol and his Rougeu win and just put him over the top. I know with the WWF it is a babyface territory but it seems like down south, the heel champ and babyface chase is what the draw is. I am sure you will come up with something special for it and it will be great to see where it goes.

kevinmcfl
5/12/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 TULSA, OKLAHOMA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: DUSTY RHODES NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: KEVIN VON ERICH, STAN HANSEN & BLACKJACK MULLIGAN UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: RUSHER KIMURA Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Tulsa Convention Center here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd both hype up last week’s David Von Erich Memorial and Jim Ross welcomes in the new UFW Unified World Champion….. Dusty Rhodes Dusty Rhodes begins with how great it is to be the first ever UWF Unified World Champion and how wonderful it was to take out both Jerry Lawler and Austin Idol on the same night. All of a sudden Skandar Akbar comes out and interrupts the interview. Skandar Akbar: Dusty…. Dusty Rhodes! Your days as UWF Champion have just begun and they are already numbered. It doesn’t matter which of my Sheiks gets the next title shot but it will be the end of you! Dusty Rhodes: Akbar, watch your mouth and get out of my face or else it will be the end of…. WHAM! Sneak attack by Hacksaw Reed and all Hell breaks loose. Reed is tough when you know he is coming but he Pearl Harbors you, you got no chance. Dusty takes it pretty good for a few minutes here until JYD and Hacksaw Duggan come to his aid. As we get ready for break, Ernie Ladd reminds a beaten American Dream what it is like when you are on top of the mountain… Everyone is coming to toss your behind off that mountain! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Before our next bout, Jim Ross really hypes up tonight’s show and announces a Main Event for the ages! It will be a UWF Tag Team Title Rematch between The Road Warriors and The Perfect Alliance. MATCH: TERRY GORDY VS RON SEXTON A quick beating here by Gordy as the end came after he connected with a piledriver! Gordy goes over to the interview desk where he is congratulated for his win in the steel cage against Dr. Death. Gordy is full of emotion and he says it felt good to beat Williams but he owes a lot of that victory to his old brother, Michael Hayes. If he didn’t come out and take care of Eric Embry and Buddy Landell he would have been in a world of trouble. Ross goes on to ask what he makes of the Rat Pack coming out to help Dr. Death and Gordy is not surprised. “Steve Williams is nothing but a rat so it makes perfect sense he would join the Rat Pack!” All of a sudden the entire Rat Pack (Ted Dibiase, Steve Williams, Eric Embry, and Buddy Landell) comes out. Dibiase begins by saying that they are called the Rat Pack because the stick together and not because of the dirty, disgusting rodent. It seems like Gordy is in some trouble here but all of a sudden the crowd pops. It is Michael Hayes and Buddy Jack Roberts strutting out. Hayes is strutting like only Hayes can do and Buddy Roberts is just ready to throw down! Michael Hayes: Well, well well. Once a Freebird always a Freebird. Blood is thicker than water and trust me baby! We are family. Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy may have had some wild brawls in our day but that happens with families. But nobody, and I mean nobody is going to harm my family! If you all want to go to Bad Street we can go right now daddy o! Ted Dibiase: Well I think you best watch your mouth. It is still our 4 against your 3 and that might make you feel like Hell on Bad Street. Terry Gordy: We got no problem taking you on right here and now but we thought it might be best to add another Freebird to the mix and ya’ll rats better run! Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes running out swinging his mighty 2 x 4 and the Rat Pack scatter. Jim Duggan says he would join just about any group to go after the Rat Pack but he is truly thrilled to be an honorary member of the Freebirds! They each vow to watch each other’s backs from here on out. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: JYD VS FIDEL SIERRA A nice match here as Sierra does a good job of getting some heat and JYD pumps them through the roof with his “Another One Bites the Dust. The end came after about 5 minutes with a Big Thump. (POWERSLAM) JYD does a little howling at the moon in his post-match interview where Jim Ross, to the dismay of Ernie Ladd, asks the Dog to stay for the next match. MATCH: CHRIS BENOIT VS RIP MORGN Jonathan Boyd escorts his fellow Kiwi Sheepherder to the ring but he could not stay out of the action. He is either tripping the young Benoit or getting in a sneaky knee to the gut when the action spilled out onto the floor. The match turned into a basic handicap match as the Sheepherders just kept the poor ref running in circles. Boyd actually dropped Benoit across the steel barricade and that is when JYD had seen enough. JYD rushed to the ring and went nuts. He basically took care of both Sheepherders by himself. Once heels ran for cover, we see a grateful Chris Benoit shake the hand of the Dog. Jim Ross wonders if this could be the start of a new alliance while Ernie Ladd really hoped it wouldn’t be as he had such high hopes for the young Benoit. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH THE ROAD WARRIORS with PAUL ELLERING VS THE PERFECT ALLIANCE with BABY DOLL (ARN ANDERSON & BOBBY EATON) Baby Doll comes out to the interview desk saying she needs more time as she doesn’t know where Beautiful Bobby is. Paul Ellering comes to the interview desk and is sick and tired of her stalling and he says this is just another one of the scams that the Perfect Alliance has been running around here for too long. Ellering demands that Cowboy Bill Watts come out and force this match to start or else have the Perfect Alliance forfeit their title shot. Watts does come out and agrees with Ellering. He demands that Arn Anderson start the match and if Eaton shows up he can then join in. As the match gets started you can almost feel sorry for Arn Anderson. He is being beaten from pillar to post and the end comes quickly. Animal hoisted up Arn as Hawk came diving off the top rope with a nasty clothesline. The fans are still unsure of what to make of the Road Warriors but they are in awe of their power and ability. The Road Warriors leave the ring and Arn is face down in obvious trouble. Baby Doll is at his side trying to help him when all of a sudden we here that funky sound and the fans wonder could it be….. Yes it is!! Jim Cornett is making his way to the ring with Lover Boy Denis Condrey and…. Beautiful Bobby. He walks right up to Baby Doll and says that Eaton could no longer team with this loser who is face down in the ring right now and that she is now in the presence of the greatest tag team in the world today…. THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. Jim Cornette: Oh and by the way, Ms. Two Tons of Mascara…. Beautiful Bobby Eaton has told me to tell you that your services are no longer needed. SLAP! Baby Doll hauls off and smacks Cornette right across the face and the show ends with Cornette yelling about how he is going to have his mother call her lawyers and he is going to sue her for everything he has. Jim Ross: So long from Tulsa!

SirEdger
Must say that I didn't expect to see Jim Duggan joining the Freebirds but this should be fun!
Boon
Interesting angle with the Midnight Express, really couldn't see Arn as a face, but I suppose this is why it's fantasy looking forward to seeing where this goes...
GeneJackson95
Duggan as a Freebird is going to be an interesting ride..... Finally The Midnight Express come together along with Cornette...Road Warriors better watch their back.
LowBlowPodcast
A couple of things... I really like the champion run down in the beginning... shows how stacked your roster is. I know we have ideas but Chris Benoit is a very small dude at this point in his career... using him the way you did with the Herders was a good move. I like seeing the MXE join up here... Anderson is a good foil at this point but may not help get them the legit heat they need, but that is why they have Cornett.
agentofenton
The Midnight Express!! Yes! Love it. Cornette is up to his tricks already, bringing the team together and sticking it to Baby Doll. I am in agreement with Derek on the champions roll call at the beginning. I had the same thought reading through it, what a roster. Road Warriors have no mercy, and do you expect anything less? Freebirds and Duggan together is very interesting. I cant wait to see where this goes.
kevinmcfl
5/19/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: DUSTY RHODES NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: KEVIN VON ERICH, STAN HANSEN & BLACKJACK MULLIGAN UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: RUSHER KIMURA Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Shreveport, Louisiana and the Irish McNeil’s Boys Club here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Well before we get to our first match, I do have some bad news. Last week we sew that snake in the grass, Bobby Eaton leave his partner, Arn Anderson all alone to take on the UWF Tag Team Champions, The Road Warriors. As one would expect, Arn fought gallantly but was no match for in this 2-1 handicap bout. In fact, Arn suffered some pretty bad injuries and will be out for some time. All of a sudden Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express come out and Cornette threatens to sue Jim Ross for calling his man, Beautiful Booby a snake! Jim Ross: Whatever! Jim Cornette: Everybody here is just jealous that Bobby has found the perfect teammate, one Lover Boy Denis and the perfect manager…. Me. Who could blame him? Did you see that loser, Arn Anderson last week? He couldn’t even stand on his own two feet in that match against the Road Warriors. If that doesn’t prove who was the leader in the Perfect Alliance I don’t know what will. And that two ton of mascara, Baby Doll. She is lucky I didn’t lay her out. If she ever comes near me again, my mother will have her lawyers sue those tight leather pants right off her. And now for the Road Warriors! The Midnight Express is the greatest tag team in the world today and we are quickly going to rise up the ranks and … Baby Doll comes storming out SMACK! She clocks Cornett right in the kisser and goes on to say that if Cornette had any guts at all he would get in the ring with her right now. Jim Cornette says that he would gladly do it but didn’t bring his wrestling gear today as he is a wrestling MANAGER. Something you nothing about. Baby Doll goes back at Cornett while Ross takes us to break hoping to restore order. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: THE SHEIKS with SKANDAR AKBAR (CRUSHER BLACKWELL & KEN PATERA VS LANNY POFFO & BRETT WAYNE A complete squash match with the end coming when Blackwell hit a Giant Splash on Poffo. At the interview desk, the Sheiks find out that the UWF has named them the new #1 contenders for the tag titles and that they will get a match this week in Alexandria, Louisiana. This really excites Akbar who basically says that the Road Warriors like to play it rough and nasty but that is great because Sheik Blackwell and Sheik Patera invented toughness and nastiness and that they are about to bring him some much need gold to his stable. He also reminds Dusty Rhodes that his days as UWF Champ are numbered and that when that fat slob meets his perfect specimen, Hacksaw Reed, his men will control all of the gold here in the UWF. MATCH: JYD VS JONATHAN BOYD A wild match that is a carrier over form last week when JYD came to the aid of Chris Benoit against the Kiwi Sheepherders. This time it is reversed. JYD had the match in hand when all of a sudden Rip Morgan rushed the ring and attacked the Dog. The ref quickly called for the bell but it was still 2-1. That is until Benoit hit the ring. Things went a little bonzo gonzo here and in the end, the Dog and his new friend controlled the ring. Dog started swinging his big dog collar and dancing to “Another One Bites the Dust.” Benoit did not know what to make of this show of emotion but the two are grateful that they have each other’s backs. Ernie Ladd is upset that JYD and Benoit keep interfering in matches and Ross is confused and asks him didn’t he see what the Kiwi Sheepherders did? Ernie Ladd responds, “NO” ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- The UWF Unified Champion, Dusty Rhodes, is at the interview desk where he is fuming at Skandar Akbar and Hacksaw Reed’s attack last week on national TV. Rhodes is yelling and jiving like only the Dream can do and he says it doesn’t matter where or when but you can be sure that when it happens, Dusty is going to stick that A-RAB towel right down Reed’s throat and then take Akbar’s towel and shove it where the sun don’t shine! Jim Ross let’s Dusty know that he will get his chance this week in Alexandria and the Dream is ecstatic and the contract finally being signed by the UWF Board of Directors. MAN MOUNTAIN LINK VS TIGER CONWAY MATCH: MAN JR. Two styles at work here. The power and dirty tactics of Man Mountain Link vs the athleticism and mat skills of Tiger Conway Jr In the end, Conway shows Link that he can mix it up as well He followed up a big right hand with a top rope diving headbutt for the victory. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT THE FREEBIRDS (MICHAEL HAYES & BUDDY ROBERTS) VS THE RAT PACK (ERIC EMBRY AND BUDDY LANDELL) It is not so much as to who is in the ring but who is on the outside during this match. Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death Steve Williams accompanied Embry and Landell while the Freebirds were not to be outdone as Terry Gordy and Hacksaw Duggan came out with Hayes and Roberts. The match was a wild one that sees it end in a double disqualification. While all 4 men were in the ring, Dibiase tried to distract the ref and allow Dr. Death to join in the attack but Hacksaw Duggan and Terry Gordy would not allow this to happen. All 8 mega stars were brawling all over the place and the ref just lost control. It is here he called for the bell and Jim Ross guaranteed us this is far from over! Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport! gordi
Road Warriors vs Blackwell and Patera should be great. Freebirds vs Rat Pack is heating up. Might wanna do a little proofreading: RUSKHR KIMURA MOUNTANI LINK VS TIGER CONWAY MATCH: MAN JR.
GeneJackson95
Some much awesome stuff going on. Cornette and Midnight Express are going to be fun to watch especially with JC's interactions with Baby Doll. I love the odd pairing of JYD and Benoit which really works and puts the rub on young Benoit with the emense popularity of JYD. I've always been a huge fan of Jonathan Boyd, I dig the pairing of Boyd and Morgan as the Sheepherders as well or more so than Butch and Luke. Freebirds vs. Rat Pack has all sorts of potential, enjoying it so far.
Crazymax Jack
How funny is it that your announcer is the same guy who constantly mentions the success of a wrestling promotion is "compelling characters and storylines". Creativity is key, and you've refused to just play things out based on real life and added twists to your teams, stories, etc. A thorough enjoyment for me to read.
