Mr. Lacelle Posted June 8, 2017 Report Posted June 8, 2017 Growing up in the maritimes I was quite familiar with Rotten Ron Starr. I loved his series of matches against Stephen Petitpas & am delighted there was a resurgence in his work from fans.
El Boricua Posted June 8, 2017 Report Posted June 8, 2017 Just saw the news. Always remembered fondly among the Puerto Rican wrestling fans for his various runs down here as half of the infamous primos Starr. An overlooked talent by most fans since he would work the not so sexy territories during the 80s. Glad to see that the revisiting of territory wrestling has led to others discovering and/or seeing more of Ron Starr's work and be able to appreciate what he brought to the table. Que descanses en paz y gloria Ron Starr.
...TG Posted June 8, 2017 Report Posted June 8, 2017 The Puerto Rico set really shows how good he was - he and Chicky were a great double act. His 9/1986 match with Invader I was my favorite. RIP
khawk20 Posted June 9, 2017 Report Posted June 9, 2017 Oh wow, that's awful news. RIP. One of those guys that the more you see of him, the more you appreciate his work.
Memphis Mark Posted June 10, 2017 Report Posted June 10, 2017 Really enjoyed Ron Starr's work in Puerto Rico . I also loved his run in Midnight Express , Inc . Randy Rose return to Pensacola and form another Midnight Express team with Ron Starr , Norvell Austin and later Wayne Farris. Journeymen like Ron Starr were really the glue that held the territories together. Rest In peace Rambo.
victory Posted June 10, 2017 Report Posted June 10, 2017 RIP as he was very good on the mic and in the ring. I've been meaning to pick up his book for awhile as I always enjoyed his work.
