Taped on 10/1/86 Airing on 10/3/86 (Highlights from Memphis, TN are shown of Nikita Koloff capitalizing on the injury of Magnum TA to win the UWF World Championship in the Steel Cage…..we then cut to the following night in Nashville, TN where Jerry Lawler was facing King Kong Bundy where Nikita Koloff (who was not booked on the card) came out of the crowd and helped Bundy double team Lawler and sent him out on a stretcher……We then go to the opening montage and over to Jim Ross and Ron Fuller) Ross: "Hello and welcome once again to UWF Power Pro Wrestling and you just saw some the disgusting actions of Devastation Incorporated in Tennessee last weekend that landed the UWF World Championship around the waist of Nikita Koloff and landed Magnum TA and Jerry 'the King' Lawler on the injured list." Fuller: "Disgusting?? I didn't see anything disgusting, what I saw was smart and now we have a superior athlete as the UWF World Champion." Ross: "That's your opinion Ron, but most fans do not agree with that….however another superior athlete will be challenging for that title when 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams takes on Nikita Koloff in St. Petersburg tomorrow night." Fuller: "Well, I assume that Mr. Williams will meet the same fate as his buddy Magnum TA." (Dr. Death Steve Williams storms the set) Williams: "Oh is that what you ASSUME Mr. Fuller?? Well I can tell you right now you assume wrong buddy. Nikita Koloff is going to find out why they call me Dr. Death! But before we get to St. Petersburg, right here TONIGHT in Pensacola, I want King Kong Bundy in the ring to get some revenge for Magnum for Bundy injuring his ribs and being the real reason he lost his UWF World Championship!" (and with that Dr. Death storms off) Ross: "Well Tennessee Stud, there you have it from Dr. Death and right now let's go to the ring!" MATCH #1: "Hacksaw" Butch Reed pinned 'Big' Bubba Monroe after a flying shoulder tackle COMMERCIALS (General Skandar Akbar and Nikita Koloff lead the way for Akbar's new tag team from the Soviet Union, The Moscow Machines, Jim Ross on commentary adds, "these guys are allegedly Nikita's 'comrades' from Russia, however I have my suspicions about whether or not these guys are from Moscow" Fuller responded with "Jimmy, look at the hammers and sickles on their tights there…obviously these boys are from Russia and don't you dare go speculating otherwise!") The Moscow Machines (#1/#2) w/Gen. Skandar Akbar defeated Randy Watson/Dewey Cox after #2 pinned Watson following the backbreaker/elbow drop combo (Bruce Prichard is at ringside and welcomes 'Gorgeous' Jimmy Garvin and Precious) Bruce: "Jimmy, it's good to see you here in the UWF and I understand you've somehow managed to step to the front of the line and you're getting a shot at Terry Taylor's North American title tomorrow night in St. Petersburg." Garvin: "Yeah….yeah….yeah….yeah Brucie! I'm able to step to the head of the line because I'm the top wrestler in North America and who else is more fitting to challenge Terry Taylor for that title??" Bruce: "Well, I certainly would argue that point, I've always been impressed with your talents along with your lovely wife, Precious." Garvin: "I can only imagine how excited these fans of the UWF are to know they are about to have a North American Champion they can be proud of and enjoy looking at….." (Eric Embry appears) Embry: "OH MY GOD……Jimmy….Patti….It's so good to see you two…..how many years has it been since we've seen each other??" Precious: "Years?? Eric….it's literally been a couple of months….you know….in Lutte…." Embry: "Loot? Oh yeah, Canada……seems like forever ago….anyway, how the hell how have yall been?? It's great we all ended up here in the UWF…..we'll have those tag titles in no time at all." Garvin: "Eric….look it's good seeing you and all….and we had a great run in Texas, no doubt….but this time it's about me…..I'm going for the North American Championship, ok……so good luck and we'll catch ya later man." (Garvin and Precious turn and leave as Embry starts to follow them) Embry: "Hold up guys, there's a great place right down the road for chimichangas……seriously…wait up!" COMMERCIALS UWF North American Champion Terry Taylor pinned The Libyan after a 'five arm' forearm smash (We see footage of Magnum TA in the gym with his ribs taped up as he's struggling to work out, he's approached by Lance Russell) Lance: "Magnum, I know this is a tough time for you….you're injured, your championship was stolen from you….what's the outlook for your return to the ring?" Magnum: "First of all Lance, it's going to take more than a fat humpty dumpty looking slob breaking my ribs to stop me…..the Doctors say I should stay out of the ring for 90 days but there's no chance in hell that's happening….'Cowboy' said he wouldn't book me this weekend in Florida but Lance I can promise you whether I have a match or not….I'll be closer than Nikita and Bundy think…..and if I get half a chance I'll my hands on them and get some revenge!" UWF Television Title Tournament Round 1 Match: Dick Murdoch pinned Jeff Jarrett with his feet on the ropes (A highlight package airs showing everything that's been going on in the tag team division recent months featuring The Midnight Express, The Rock & Roll Express, and The Fabulous Ones) MAIN EVENT Grudge Match Steve "Dr. Death" Williams pinned King Kong Bundy w/Gen. SirEdger
Always great to see Garvin/Precious/Embry reunited although it doesn't seem that it will go as Embry would like. I'm also suspicious like JR about those Moscow Machines. And holy crap, Stan Hansen has arrived and everybody should run for cover!
LowBlowPodcast
Really liked the team of Luger and Bubdy for a visual. Hansen showing up for Dr Death is definitely an unexpected surprise. I like the direction UWF is going.
Crazymax Jack
The 4 corners tag match would have been heaven. I do agree also, Luger and Bundy together makes for a cool visual. Somehow it works for me.
spaldoni
LOL, love the Garvin/Embry reunion. Brings back great Texas memories. Nikita Koloff and Devastation Inc. continues to cause havoc but oh man Stan Hansen comes in to even things up! I cant imagine a Koloff/Hansen feud, WOW! The tag team scene is off the charts. Ladd walking out on the Fab Ones makes things even more interesting. Looks like The Moscow Machines are creeping up the ranks as well. Reed is back on the singles track. Only a matter of time before he's holding gold. Agree with the Bundy/Luger pairing, so random but works LOL. Things are going up a level in the UWF! SirEdger
It was only a matter of time before things exploded between the Garvins and Embry. Embry definitely got a solid ally in Terry Taylor here. Man, those Moscow Machines are racking some impressive wins. Skandor Akbar might have a secret weapon in his hands to help out Nikita Koloff! LowBlowPodcast
Birmingham got a stacked card. Top to bottom loaded. The six-man would have been enough and what a way to end it. These machines and making a statement. The Garvins looking strong. The MXE are on top by any means. UWF is loaded and heading in the right direction! LowBlowPodcast
The UWF is alive and well here and what a couple of big matches... Magnum is hurt... how does the UWF recover? Who will take his spot. Hansen is definitely cut to hold that spot and with Dr. Death teaming up with Dusty... we've got a lot on the horizon with the UWF. I also liked the 8-man elimination match... always fun to utilize some of those when possible.
SirEdger
Honestly, I feel like right now, the UWF is so much better equipped than JCP was IRL when Magnum's accident happened. Looking at the UWF roster, you can plug a lot of guys in that position and they won't feel out of place. No matter who Gene chooses, I think it'll be the smart choice to plug in Magnum's slot.
