NWA heads into 87 with one of the most intriguing storylines...The 4 Horsemen! Can't wait to find out which title Flair will go for.

The Koloff's bringing in somebody only means trouble.

Paul Jones has made a huge impact and it looks like he's going all out this year.

Good update on the comings and goings. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Hansen and Duggan do here. Also looking forward to watching the Nasty Boys develop.

I'll be tuning in to watch Crockett's big announcement.

NWA POWER HOUR!

Previously Recorded/Airing 1/7/87

On Commentary: Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone

Ring Announcer: David Crockett

(The NWA opening video slams on screen with quick clips of the top stars set to "Rock Warrior" by The Rods. We end on a shot of NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard before cutting to Caudle & Schiavone at ringside)

BC: Happy new year wrestling fans and welcome to the first NWA Power Hour of 1987! I'm Bob Caudle alongside Tony Schiavone and Tony we're kicking the new year off with a bang!

TS: We certainly are Bob. Fans the new year is often associated with new beginnings and that's what you'll see tonight as every match on tonights broadcast will feature at least one wrestler making his NWA debut. On top of all that, the president of the NWA Mr Jim Crockett Jr will have an announcement later this broadcast that we've been told could very well alter the landscape of the NWA.

BC: Indeed a great night in store for everyone. Now let's send it to the ring for our opening contest.

Match #1

The debuting "Gigolo" Jimmy Del Ray defeats Rocky King with a moonsault. After the match Doug Somers approached Del Ray and the two left together, talking the whole time.

Commercial-Bob Caudle runs down the NWA house shows for the coming week.

(VTR- We see NWA president Jim Crockett Jr sitting behind a desk in a tastefully decorated office. He says following the commercial & critical success of "Christmas Chaos" the NWA will be looking to produce more Holiday centered events in the new year. As such, on Monday February 14th the NWA will present "St Valentines Day Massacre" live on the superstation! This will be a special 3 hour extravaganza based around a one night, eight team tournament where the winners will be awarded the newly reactivated NWA World Six Man Tag Team Titles! The episode of NWA Power Hour scheduled to take place on February 11th will not take place to allow the competitors to focus entirely on the big event. Details surrounding the event will be made public in the coming weeks. He finishes by saying that he expects "St Valentines Day Massacre" to be the first phase of a truly gamechanging year for the NWA as it looks to establish itself as America's premier wrestling organization in 1987. -End VTR)

(Caudle & Schiavone hype the big announcement and speculate on the teams that could be included in the tournament)

Match #2

(Caudle & Schiavone discuss the pending arrival of Hansen, they agree it doesn't bode well for ANYONE! Switching gears, they inform the fans that Harts Afire were originally scheduled for tonight's main event but due to a sudden family emergency, they had to return to Calgary. So instead, tonight's main event will feature TWO debuting tag teams!)

The Gigolo debuts and Sommers shows interest. I can see these guys working together.

Looking forward to St. Valentine's Day Massacre. You know there's going to be a ton of action with all those 6 man matches.

In Spartanburg, the Vice has got to go over.

I like the hype videos of Duggan and Hansen. That's something missing in today's world.

Mega Man is coming!

Chief Wahoo shows Faulk what tough is all about.

Nice debut match for both the Nasty Boys and Southern Boys. Fun match which I'm sure will lead to more.

Good couple of house shows. I'm a big fan of monikers and you've got some good ones. I think a moniker adds a lot to the wrestler's character.

British Magician is off to a good TV title reign.

Looks like Uncle Ivan's comrade has arrived.

Fun 6 man tag with the Indians taking out the Commonwealth. Nice prelude to the upcoming tournament.

After an impressive win streak, Gaylord is rewarded with a world title shot. Tully's experience wins this one.

What I enjoy most about your House Shows is how realistic they are.  They have the right amount of matches and the right amount of wrestlers with more singles matches then tag matches.  These cards could make so serious money for the NWA which is really the job of a business.  Many of us because of our bloated rosters give the fans what they would love to see but our cards might not be financially best for our territory.  Also, nice job running 2 separate cards which the Mid Atlantic did back in the day.  As for the cards.... I would love to have seen Tully vs Savage... just the pomp and circumstance of the entrance would be worth the price of admission.

Great way to debut Baron. Paul Jones always has a back up plan.

Big win for the Southern Boys but man do they pay the price as Big Daddy Ritter goes back to his heel ways and decimates them.

Huge win for Borne as his path of destruction continues.

Speaking of huge wins, the Renegade Warriors pull one over on the Koloff's. However, like the Southern Boys, they suffer a beating from an unknown Russian comrade.

Damn! The fans got their money's worth with that Tully/Savage 45 minute draw.

To Greenville,

Another exciting debut as Yamada excites the crowd.

Kamala gets the win in the battle of the big boys.

Outlaws might get a title shot soon.

I know Wright and Fleming put on a wrestling clinic. Rematch!

Andersons end the night by retaining over Spartanburg Vice.

I will be tuning in to find out what happened between Kabuki and Spivey.

Enjoyed these house shows.

NWA POWER HOUR!

(In place of the usual opening video we see a disclaimer saying that "the following video contains violent imagery that may not be suitable for all audiences. Viewer discretion is advised". We then cut to what appears to be security footage from a parking lot. Dan Spivey is seen putting his bags in the trunk of a car. Just as he's about to close it, The Great Kabuki runs in from offscreen and nails Spivey with an axehandle before repeatedly slamming the trunk down on top of Spivey. Eventually Spivey slumps to the ground where Kabuki leans him against the car and blasts him with a series of kicks to the chest. A pair of passersby see the assault and move to intervene but Kabuki sees them coming and sprays the first with the "Asian mist". When the second goes to check on his friend, Kabuki drills him with the Thrust kick. By the time Kabuki is able to return to Spivey he has crawled to the driver's side and seems to be trying to enter the car. Kabuki stops him however and after a few qui shots, pulls Spivey back a couple paces & RAMS HIS HEAD THROUGH THE WINDOW! As Spivey collapses to the floor another larger group arrive, finally forcing Kabuki to retreat. We then cut to a somber Caudle & Schiavone at ringside)

The Best And Worst Of NWA Starrcade '85: The Gathering

BC: Wrestling fans welcome to another episode of NWA Power Hour, professional wrestling's most exciting hour. I'm Bob Caudle alongside Tony Schiavone and as you've just seen Dan Spivey was the victim of a absolutely heinous assault by The Great Kabuki.

TS: Heinous is right Bob. We can report that Spivey suffered damage to his ribs and spine as well as severe lacerations in the face. Spivey is expected to be out of action for a number of months. We here at the NWA wish him a full & speedy recovery. We can also (Schiavone is cut off by thunderous boos from the crowd as Paul Jones & Baron Von Raschke make their way to ringside)

PJ: Schiavone nobody cares about what happened to that bleach blonde buffoon. Why don't you tell everyone about the abuse of power committed against my man Kabuki.

TS: I was just getting to that actually. Fans as a result of his disgusting actions Kabuki was suspended for a whole year (huge pop)

PJ: A whole year! And for what? Because he played to rough with poor widdle Spivey? What a joke! You'd think a guy who walks around calling himself "Dangerous" would know how to handle himself. Well Kabuki & I discussed it and we agreed we weren't going to give the corrupt officials here in the NWA the satisfaction of denying him the opportunity to work for a living which is why we arranged for his contract to be sold to a company out in Chicago. Thankfully like all great leaders i ALWAYS have a contingency plan in place and you're looking at him. That's right folks your eyes do not deceive you that is Baron Von Raschke, my former World Tag Team Title partner, a man I know I can trust to do whatever the Army needs him to do to secure victory. Baron, I believe a demonstration is in order! (The Baron gives a sharp nod, removes his robe and enters the ring)

TS: Welcome back fans and as you can see The Koloffs have a new partner. Ivan what can you tell us about this man?

IK: First of all Tony Schiavone Ivan wishes to make something clear. We Koloffs try to help our comrade Ustinov reach his potential, try to show him how to bring glory to motherland like we do but he fail us at every turn! You watch footage and you see match after match it is Ustinov to takes pin costing us the match. Then at "Christmas Chaos" he make biggest mistake of his life when he cost Nikita United States of America Championship. We could take no more! And Kremlin agree with us, they take comrade Ustinov home for retraining and in his place they send newest weapon in arsenal of Mother Russia. Allow Ivan please of introducing...Vladimir Petrov! He has been placed under my tutelage and together we shall take NWA World Six Man Tag Team Titles back home Soviet Union! Comrade Petrov, show these pitiful Americans the power of Mother Russia!

I always loved parking lot angles. They seemed so real and brought heat. This one proves my point. Kabuki gives Spivey (and 2 bystanders) a brutal beating. Excellent way to explain both men's departure.

Jones has a pretty good contingency plan with Baron.

El Santo gets a chance to shine on TV.

Looking forward to the 6 man tournament. I used 6 man titles a couple years ago and had a lot of fun with it.

Radiance uses one of my favorite tag move finishers, the double flapjack baby!

Jones isn't the only one with a back up plan. Uncle Ivan brings in Petrov. I laughed when Ivan said the Russian bearhug is superior to America's but didn't explain how. LOL, nice little detail.

A variety of fresh faces coming in. The devastating Stan Hansen, The exciting Mega Man. And tonight, Hacksaw Duggan debuts with a powerful win.

Another solid week for the NWA!

The NWA continues its run of fun house shows.

The Kansas Jayhawks are together again! Just seems right.

Kamala takes out Gaylord. If only Gaylord could've nailed Kamala with his spere.

Renegade Warriors get the DQ win over the Outlaws and retain the US titles.

Road Warrior Animal wins the battle royal and receives a golden opportunity.

Irwin helps the Jayhawks even the odds but, in the end, Ritter pulls it out for his team. This could be the start of another dominating heel run for Ritter.

Foley adds Dundee to the Commonwealth! Awesome seeing Dundee reunite with his old buddy Barnes.

When Arn hits the spinebuster, its over!

Tully takes the cheap way out over Animal.

I bet Bassarab and Roma gave the fans an exciting match.

Ferris gets a big win over Conway. Ferris is doing pretty good.

Fleming once again takes Wright to the limit. They might need a no time limit match next time. I like the importance put on the TV title.

Savage and Kamala gave the fans their money's worth.

Red Tide are in sync.

Wahoo chops his way to victory over Baron.

Even though they used a roll of quarters, that's still a big win for the outlaws. I'm sure the Road Warriors will want a rematch.

I like the loops you're putting together. Some realistic results in what would be a helluva territory around this time. My big MVPs would be Savage and Kamala. This is a feud I could see being some big money. It is almost the George Steele v Savage feud except it would make sense and Kamala is a legit threat.

Oh yeah... and the Road Warriors rule the world of wrestling... without question...who can stop em?

(We see yet more footage of Stan Hansen just beating the dogshit out of people set to low ominous music. As usual the video ends with a Lariat montage with a graphic reading "Stan Hansen arrives...next week!" Caudle & Schiavone nervously hype the impending arrival which they say spells trouble for the entire locker room. Switching gears they announce its time for the hotly anticipated debut of "Megaman"!)

Main event

The debuting Tom "Megaman" Magee defeats "Gorgeous" Gary Royal with a slingshot legdrop.
