sek69
Pretty much creating this thread to say Fujinami entered the Ranbo and did a Dragon screw on Bad Luck Fale.
sek69
Also the crowd looks pretty good all things considered. Seems to be as full as you are allowed to get in Japan at the moment.
sek69
Inoki video to open the main show, he looks fairly good for his age and health issues.
Dav'oh
Fifty not-out is a great innings from Fujinami. 7pm here so this show is an easy watch for me.

The Sho-Yoh feud has been underwhelming, for mine. They try hard but where's the hate?

sek69
The only time I was ever invested in anything Sho and Yoh ever did was when they were on excursion in CMLL as Rajin and Fujin.
sek69
Who has aged less, Tanahashi or R Truth?
Dav'oh
Could go either way, but Tanahashi seems to be made of ever-thicker granite and R-Truth of elastic.
sek69
Man watching Tanahashi go ape is like watching Steamboat lose it, just seems so shocking.
sek69
After all these years, Naito's theme still gets me hyped as fuck
sek69
Welp I'm convinced Shibata is not human. Dude looks like he hasn't missed a beat.
Dav'oh
Thinking of adding EVIL vs 1989 Dino Bravo to the "vs" thread on GWE. It's a tough one...
Dav'oh
Any Japanese bookies lurking here? What odds for a one-hour draw tonight leading to a three-way tomorrow? Hey! Okada's jacket is an easter egg in the five minutes I've seen of the WWE Studios co-production, "Rumble". Shoulda watched that instead of RAW this morning... Dav'oh
Night 2 promises to be better - Robbie Eagles is on it (plus some interesting singles match-ups).
kas
Okada vs Shingo was excellent as expected. Shibata vs ?, DT vs Goto/YOSHI-Hashi, and Despy vs Hiromu were all really good too. EVIL vs Ishii was the drizzling shits and the rest of the card was just fine. Decent show overall I'd say. Also, I have not seen any of Ospreay since he had to vacate the title, and my God that promo was just awful.
gonzalez
Did Shibata change his match from Catch Rules to Pro Wrestling at the start?
Jmare007
I don't know how much of it was paid but 12k in attendance is a damn good number all things considered.

kas
Considering how quick the rule change occurred, I would guess it was kayfabe. Also yeah, 12k really is a strong number, same as last year IIRC which had Naito vs Ibushi as the main and Okada vs Ospreay as the semi-main. NintendoLogic
It wouldn't be the first time a wrestler went into business for himself at WK. At WK7, Low Ki dressed up as Agent 47 for his IWGP junior title match without clearing it with the company beforehand and got fired as a result. I remember that If Shibata went into business for himself we needed a run in by Inoki or Gedo to stop the match and slap Shitaba while the Dome booed and started to riot. Timbo Slice
Gedo absolutely is gonna strap up Will tonight and it’s gonna be hilarious. Master of unforced errors strikes again.
sek69
Funny thing about the Shibata deal, is despite him saying that it was still very much an exhibition style match and it seemed like it was just done to get the audience used to seeing him in a regular match again. Any time an announcer says "is X going in to business for himself" as many times as Kevin and Chris did, then that person is very much not doing that.
gonzalez
English commentary has gotten worse, and worse. And I used to enjoy it. Although I can tell by tone that Japanese commentary got worse too.
