Team AAA wins an exciting opener.

The Alliance's rut continues against the Express.

Muta & Hase do NJPW proud.

Hammer is not taking Rhodes' rejection well.

No surprise seeing the Steiner's advance.

King & Texano do not match their fellow luchadors success.

Hart & Steamboat take the Alliance to the limit allowing Big, Bad & Dangerous to go straight to the semi's.

WCW Saturday Night

July 4, 1992

Center Stage Theatre in Atlanta, GA

Taped on June 29, 1992

Matches:

  1. Greg Valentine & The Great Kokina defeated Italian Stallion & Steve Pritchard in a squash.
  2. WCW World Light Heavyweight Champion "Fyin'" Brian Pillman went to a draw with The Lightning Kid.
  3. The Barbarian defeated Jimmy Garvin.
  4. WCW World Television Champion Too Cold Scorpio defeated Dick Slater to retain the title.
  5. "Stunning" Steve Austin w/ Paul E. Dangerously defeated Tom Zenk.
  6. Sting & Ron Simmons defeated Masahiro Chono & Takayuki Iizuka, on America's Birthday.

Notes:

  1. The show ended with Harley Race in the ring with Big Van Vader, Hercules Hernandez, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Scott "Flash" Norton. Race is mad because Vader could have won The Crockett Cup and the WCW World Title on the same night. Vader will have to settle by destroying Sting alone. Who will replace Vader & Bigelow in the tournament? Bigelow steps forward, looking to see who his partner will be, but then Norton and Hercules attack him. The three of them lay him out. Harley Race proclaims The Jurassic Powers of Norton & Hernandez as the next WCW World Tag Team Champions!
  2. A recap of Bagwell, who is in the hospital. He will be out for months. Doink the Clown will debut next week.
  3. "Ravishing" Rick Rude with Madusa on a ranch, making fun of the Calgary Stampede and Bret Hart. He will embarrass him at The Great American Bash.
  4. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine introduced his new partner, who is better than Dusting Rhodes in the massive Great Kokina.
  5. Pillman refused to shake The Lightning Kid's hand after the draw and slapped him.
  6. After the Scorpio victory, he was attacked by Flamingo who claimed Scorpio ruined his chances of joining The Dangerous Alliance.

The Great American Bash Event Center:

  • WCW World Champion Sting vs Big Van Vader w/ Harley Race
  • WCW United States Champion Rick Rude w/ Madusa vs Bret Hart
  • The Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup for the WCW World Tag Team Championship:

Next is The Great American Bash. WCW's 1992 schedule is weird. A ppv, clash a few days later, than another ppv 3 weeks later. After that there is no Clash till September and no ppv till Halloween Havoc! What was the thought process there?

Not sure what Bidelow did to piss Race off but between the Jurassic Express in the CC and Vader getting a shot at Sting, GAB promises to be a very profitably night for the legend.

Valentine finds quite the teammate in Kokina.

Lightning Kid continues to vex Pillman.

Gotta be honest Flamingo, I think blaming Scorpio for you failing with the Alliance is a bit of a stretch.
