Global Wrestling Federation

mqdefault.jpg

Bill Watts: San Antonio, Texas, is the home of the Global Wrestling Federation, and it’s here because this is a fighting town. People here work hard for what they earn, and they know the difference between real effort and somebody trying to fool them. That’s what this company is built on honesty, toughness, and competition. The Global Wrestling Federation will not be run like other wrestling promotions. There are no contracts here. Nobody is guaranteed a job, a spot, or another appearance. You earn your place every time you walk through that curtain. If you impress, you’ll be back. If you don’t, you won’t. It’s that simple. This is not a place to hide. This is not a place to wait for an opportunity. This is a place where you step into the ring and prove you belong, because nobody here is going to carry you.

Championships in the Global Wrestling Federation will mean something. We’re not handing out belts because of a name or a reputation. The GWF Heavyweight Championship will be earned the hard way. Our first event will begin with a 20-man Battle Royal. Twenty men will walk into that ring knowing only two of them will survive it. The last two men standing will meet again later that night, one-on-one, in the main event, with the GWF Heavyweight Championship on the line. When that night is over, the first GWF Champion won’t be the loudest man or the most popular man. He’ll be the toughest man in the building. Global Wrestling Federation is about competition. It’s about endurance. It’s about separating the men who belong in this business from the ones who don’t. If you’re tough enough to survive here, step up. If you’re not, you won’t last.

Here is the show, just copied and pasted from that same link. I would prefer you to click the link, please, but I understand how some might not want to or be able to. Anyways please enjoy, and I will see you guys next week for episode #2 of GFW Major League Wrestling. Also with this show. I have no contracted talent; everybody is a free agent.

Great start!  Nice to have you back.  Enjoyed the entire night.  While you said you were going to run an indy for a few months, this seemed like so more. Can't wait to see what you have next time.

Nothing like a nice, crazy battle royal to welcome the fans.

Really enjoyed the back-nd-forth between Johnson & Prichard.

Bruiser Bedlam makes a terrifying impression as he dismantles a Von Erich.

Tenryu overcomes the earlier assault ot become the first  ever GWF World champion. I thought that there might be funny business when I saw Watts and Ladd in the same ring but the Big Cat played it straight.

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. I will leave everyone some feedback when I get some free time later tonight. I am going to get some more stuff posted to keep this indy going, and who knows, maybe the GWF will survive, or maybe it's a lost cause and just falls off a cliff. Only time will tell.

{The Camera fades in on a news desk. The station logo sits in the corner of the screen. Bill Watts is standing beside Chris Marrou. Watts has his arms crossed, intense as ever.}

Chris Marrou:
“Fans of professional wrestling in San Antonio, we’re joined today by a man who needs no introduction to Texas wrestling fans, Bill Watts, the owner of the Global Wrestling Federation. Bill, you’ve got a big event coming up this week.”

Bill Watts:
“That’s right, Chris. This Wednesday night, right here in San Antonio, the Global Wrestling Federation is bringing you the toughest, most physical wrestling you’re going to see anywhere in the world today. If you watched our debut show, you know exactly what we’re about: real men, real fights, and no place to hide.”

Bill Watts:
“And this Wednesday, we’re raising the stakes. In the main event, making his GWF debut, is an uncontrollable monster from Sudan, Abdullah the Butcher. This is a man who doesn’t care about wins or losses; he cares about pain, and when Abdullah steps into that ring, somebody is going to leave hurt.”

Chris Marrou:
“That’s… that’s a big statement.”

Bill Watts:
“It’s not a statement, it’s a warning. If you think what you’ve seen so far in the GWF was intense, you haven’t seen anything yet. This Wednesday night, you’re going to witness something you won’t forget.”

Bill Watts:
“So I want every wrestling fan in San Antonio to get off the couch and come see this live. Tickets are on sale right now. Call (210) 555-GWF1, that’s (210) 555-4931, and get your seats before they’re gone.”

Bill Watts (turns to the anchor, cracks a rare half-smile):
“And you know what? You ought to come down too, Chris. I’ll get you front-row seats. But don’t wear a white suit, Abdullah the Butcher doesn’t care much for dry cleaning.”

Chris Marrou:
“I’ll… I’ll keep that in mind.”

Bill Watts:
“This Wednesday night, San Antonio. The Global Wrestling Federation. Abdullah the Butcher in the main event. Be there because this is where wrestling gets real.”

The camera fades out with this card showing on the screen.

Welcome back to the fold

Have to say as an independent, i am a little disappointed there is really NO local flavor. As a long time Texas resident during this time period, I always look forward to what others bring from the lone star state.

My other beef would be with how Chris Von Erich was used. With his small size, asthma and brittle bones, his opponents were handpicked with him going up against Percy Pringle in tag matches. That match probably landed him in in the hospital.

Welcome back!

Watts really knows how to get things moving. Kicking things off with a battle royal.

Loved the drama with Sharpe injuring Tenryu before their match for the title.

Pourteau brings the scientific wrestling credibility and shines

Brett and Lenny get a nice tag team win but Bruce didn't think much of it

I will definitely tune in next week just to see Vampire Warrior.

Bedlam comes in with a brutal win. He's got some buzz going

Looks like the GWF has started its first feud with Stetson and Demon

Watts has the title and brings in the Big Cat as special enforcer. The GWF is ready to crown a champ.

Tenryu overcomes all the odds and takes down Iron Mike to win the title!

Bruce and Craig did a good job calling all the action along with some fun banter

Abby will definitely attract fans to their first house show.

The GWF is off and running. I hope it sticks around. I'm rooting for you

The Link is how I would like the show to be read, but if, for whatever reason, it doesn't work. Here are the line results.

GWF Major League Wrestling #2
01/14/1991
San Antonio, Texas TV Studio

Main Event
Abdullah the Butcher destroys Hack Myers

GWF Heavyweight Championship
Tenryu(c) defeats Steve Lombardi

Zeus defeats Cheetah Master
Blue Demon Jr defeats Larry Winters with Tony Stetson
Brett Como and Lenny St. Clair defeat The Power Twins
Bruiser Bedlam demolishes Duane Gil

The link worked for me and I am thankful for it.

I didn't actually know who Como or St Clair were so I looked them both up. Honestly surprised the latter is currently Toni Storm's butler.

Vampire Warrior & Kabuki. Back together and just as creepy as the first time.

Bedlam with another dominant win but his post match actions cost him some money.

Boss man Watts gets the crowd back with the announcement of three incoming titles.

Zeus has been unleashed but Giant Haystacks may just be the man to rein him in.

Larry Winters doesn't fare any better against the Demon than Stetson did. Pourteau however takes the chance to wear his opponent down ahead of next week's clash to become the first ever GWF Light Heavyweight champion.

Lombardi did much better than I thought he would but Tenryu still puts him down. He doesn't have time to celebrate however as the Monster Rip Morgan makes his pretense known.

Abby's GWF is as chaotic and bloody as we all knew it would be.

The link worked perfect for me!

Awesome indy show with some big gimmicks coming in with Vampire Warrior, Kabuki, Zeus, Giant Haystacks and Abbie!

Great use of the free agent list and this show would sell tickets anywhere!

The link worked great

Como and Lenny are quickly becoming a top team

Vampire and Kabuki together again and seem even more scarier this time.

Bedlam is brutalizing the competition and it's only a matter of time before he gets a shot at the title

They better reenforce the ring when Zeus and Haystacks collide

Winters can't catch a break.

Alex gets a jump on Blue Demon ahead of their LHW title showdown

Tenryu does his talking in the ring. Rip seems more than confident in his quest for a title shot

Damn, I wonder how Watts is going to react to Abby

It's amazing what you're doing with the free agents.

Craig Johnson stands in front of a GWF backdrop as Bill Watts steps into frame, serious and visibly frustrated.

Bill Watts:
“Craig, I want to address what happened last week involving Abdullah the Butcher. What you saw was real, it was violent, and it crossed a line that some of our local television partners are not comfortable with. I’ve been informed that stations have threatened to pull Global Wrestling Federation off the air if that level of graphic content continues on weekly television.”

Bill Watts:
“So let me be clear about Abdullah the Butcher, he will no longer compete on GWF weekly television. That decision is about protecting this company, our fans at home, and keeping GWF on the air. But understand me… Abdullah isn’t going anywhere.”

Bill Watts:
“On Wednesday night, January 30th, live on pay-per-view, there are no television restrictions. No limits. Abdullah the Butcher will be allowed to compete, and his opponent will be any man brave enough to sign on the dotted line and step into the ring with him.”

Bill Watts:
“If you want chaos, if you want violence, if you want to see who’s got the guts to face one of the most dangerous men in wrestling history, then you buy that PPV. Because on January 30th, Abdullah the Butcher answers to no one.”

The camera fades as Watts walks off, leaving the challenge hanging in the air.

I enjoyed the Bill Watts segment.  It was real.  I could see local television stations threatening to pull the show becasue of violence.  The question is if Abbie's violence is enough to get people to but it on PPV.  Maybe...Maybe not but it might be enough to sell extra tickets for the show.  If I were in San Anotnio, I would be asking my parents to talk me to the arena to see Abbie and his fork!
