The World Wrestling Federation is reportedly working on a deal with the Universal Wrestling Federation to send Chris Benoit to Japan for an extended series of tours in what is being described internally as a developmental move aimed at refining his in-ring ability.

Benoit, who has recently gained attention on WWF television for his hard-hitting style and technical approach, is seen by many behind the scenes as having significant long-term upside. However, the feeling within the company is that additional seasoning, particularly in the Japanese style, will help elevate him to the next level. Japan has historically been used as a proving ground for younger talent looking to sharpen their skills, and this appears to be a similar situation.

One of the key figures pushing for this move is Dynamite Kid, who has taken a strong interest in Benoit’s development. Dynamite is said to see a great deal of potential in Benoit and believes that working tours in Japan will give him the experience needed to fully realize that potential. Given Dynamite’s own background and success internationally, his influence in this decision is said to carry considerable weight.

The arrangement with UWF is part of a broader effort by the WWF to establish working relationships that allow talent to gain experience outside of the traditional North American system. Sources indicate that Benoit could be departing for his first tour in the coming months. If the move proves successful, it would not be surprising to see similar arrangements made for other younger talent in the future.

Gary Hart's arrival may have just signaled High Energy's demise. Also, wasn't expecting Ware's theme at the time to be such a bop.

Orton shows Tatanka what's in store for him.

Great set of promos which demonstrate the differences between challenger and champion.

Dan reminds everyone how Dangerous he is.

Love the poem by the Genius. It's actually a regret of mine that all the while I was writing him, I could only come up with one poem worth putting in a promo.

Duggan lets Earthquake know he hasn't forgotten about the IC title.

Nailz did some more hard time an he's making it everybody's problem.

A tough loss to the Fantastics has Herc deciding that he's better off with Slick and co than sticking with the Warlord.

Jack Tunney may have just made the biggest mistake of his career in pissing off Jake Roberts and Andre.

Ya know, if anybody could piss the fans off so much they cheer for the Nasty Boys, it'd be Slick.

Capt Lou & crew liven things up a bit

They may have been the most authentic Warrior promo in the game.

Jake & Andre show Ric what happens when you try to cut in line ahead of them.

Power and Glory with Slick and Dan Spivey defeated The Bushwhackers
Paul Roma made his return to the WWF, tagging with Hercules. Slick brought them to the ring. Looks like Slick has built his own army. After the match, though, the fans got a nice pop when The Warlord showed up and cleaned house!

The Z-Man with Gary Hart defeated Alex Pourteau

Brutus Beefcake defeated The Genius

The Nasty Boys and Earthquake with Jimmy Hart defeated The Killer Bees and Jimmy Valiant with Capt. Lou

Ultimate Warrior defeated Manny Fernandez

[Before intermission, as Mean Gene was announcing the next town. We get a shocking moment when BOB BACKLUND appeared. The former WWF Champion shows up. He takes the microphone and cuts what can only be described as a crazy promo before leaving the ring, obviously upset about how he has been received.]

Jake Roberts with Andre the Giant defeated Billy Jack Haynes

WWF Tag Team Championship
The Fantastics defeated The Twin Towers with Slick

This was a SHOCKING WIN! The win happened when Bundy missed a splash and was hit with a Double Dropkick. One Man Gang attempted to break up the pin with his Splash, but Tommy moved out of the way, and One Man Gang splashed his Bundy instead! One Man Gang was shocked, and Slick is screaming, but Gang is forced out of the ring by referee Earl Hebner! The Fantastics take advantage and hit THE ROCKET LAUNCHER! The Fantastics win the shocking match, and Slick is upset with Gang and Bundy as Power and Glory, along with Dan Spivey, come out to try to bring some peace, but this will be discussed on Prime Time Wrestling on Monday.

Power & Glory, together again. Can't say I expected to see Warlord play face but you're making it work.

Mr Backlund seems rather perturbed.

What a rebound for the Fantastics. Not only are the tag champs but they've got one more crack at the Nasty's.

Oh man! A lot going down in the WWF.

I couldn't believe it! Ric Flair showed up! WOOOOO! And of course gets himself in the world title picture right away

Flair's arrival was huge but Gary Hart showing up was pretty damn big as well. His association with Zenk will be very interesting

I'm liking the resurgence of Bob Orton.

The tag team division is insane right now. Zenk leaves High Energy. Herc turns on Warlord and gets back with Roma. And the Fantastics throw everything out of whack by winning the titles ahead of the unification bout

Loved all the promos. You're fleshing out their gimmicks and characters well.

The Nailz promo was intense

Beefcake vs. Lawler is a good program and the Genius is a fun way to elevate it.

Earthquake puts down the hammer but Duggan awaits

It was only a day but Tito and Flair get a damn good build up. Hey, these two can deliver and did. I could just feel Flair's annoyance with Jake and it costed him dearly as Santana scores the huge win to retain. I really thought Flair was going to walk right in and win the title. Nice swerve.

Fun house shows especially with an unhinged Bob Backlund return.

Tito's title run is off to a rock'n start!

Great job setting up your direction. You're right, anything can happen in the WWF right now.

I'm loving how you are running WWF so far. Everything feels fresh and exciting.

Ric Flair vs Dynamite Kid sounds like a dream match. That probably would have been great in real life if both wrestlers were healthy.

Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the kind words. I’m having a great time running my own version of the WWF in this game, and I hope you’re all enjoying it as well. I’ve got some HUGE things planned over the next few months, and I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds.

The only thing I’m considering changing is the show structure. When I started, I felt like Primetime Wrestling was more true to the time period, which I’m really trying to stay faithful to. But now I’m starting to think I should have kept Raw as the main show and used Primetime as a secondary program. I haven’t fully decided yet, but I’m definitely on the fence. I’ll be making a decision soon, especially since Raw would likely be much easier to format than a full Primetime Wrestling episode.

In a notable recent departure, King Kong Bundy is no longer with the World Wrestling Federation. Bundy, a former WWF Tag Team Champion as part of The Twin Towers, finished up with the company following the expiration of his contract, with both sides unable to come to terms on a new deal.

The title change involving The Twin Towers was directly tied to Bundy’s exit, as management opted to move the championships due to his final contracted date. Sources indicate this had been anticipated internally, with plans adjusted accordingly once it became clear an agreement would not be reached.

From a behind-the-scenes standpoint, the split appears to come down largely to Vince McMahon’s perception of Bundy’s effort and conditioning. While still viewed as a recognizable name, there was a growing feeling that Bundy was not keeping up with the company’s expectations, with one source noting McMahon believed he had become “lazy.”

With the WWF continuing to prioritize a more active and consistent roster, Bundy’s departure reflects that shift. His exit, while not unexpected internally, marks the end of his latest run with the company.

Great work on that Flair promo, I could just hear Naitch losing his damn mind.

Quake must've hit Duggan harder than first thought if he can't remember he's the man Quake beat to win the IC title.

Ya know, Mr Backlund's promo really made me realize I'd turned the IC strap into the brawlers title.

Loaded card for the first SNME of the Boggs era.

Sorry for falling behind but I am really enjoying how you are running WWF.  We get house shows, huge prime time events and even somebehind the scenes info of who is coming and going.   I can't wait for SNME!!  Also, enjoying all the chaos!  The Z-Man turning heel... the Warlord a babyface.... Flair-Jake-Andrea-Tito ... Wow... also what is going on with the Ultimate Warriors.  I agree with Lord Alfred.... unsettling!

Also.... Kudos on the Ric Flair promos and the Poffo poems.  Really good.

Thanks for all the hard work you've put in.  Also... how do you do the magazine covers.  It was cool.  You and Laststop have so much more technology skills then me.

I'm so happy I did not do WWF as you are so much more equipped then me!  Great start

That magazine cover was 100% done with ChatGPT.

If you noticed, I had to keep the cover smaller because when you zoom in, the face kind of resembles Ric Flair, but it’s not actually him. I’m not that great with graphics, but ChatGPT has really helped me bring ideas to life. I came up with the concept of Ric Flair stepping out of a limo surrounded by women, along with all the custom text to fit my WWF, and it generated the image for me.

I follow another board that does “Be The Booker,” and I’ve seen a lot of people using AI for graphics and posters. Honestly, it just speeds the whole process up and makes things easier.

I know AI is a hot topic right now, but it’s wild to me that colleges actually encourage using it. Growing up, I was always told technology would never get to this point, and now it’s part of everything we do. Just crazy times for sure.

Ric Flair is starting to get warmed up. Only a matter of time before Tito Santana's title reign will be a thing of the past.

I do both ... layout some of my own stuff like the Magazine but use AI with some of the West Virginia pictures. I think the magazines have turned out well while I have had some mixed results with AI (ChatGPT and Artspace.AI).

Another great and unpredictable week in the WWF

I really wonder what Jake's true intentions are. Is it all about Flair? Or is it a long diabolical plan to get to the world title? I can't wait to find out

Flair's pissed and will always find a way to stay in the world title picture. Declaring himself for the KOTR proves this

I'm kinda hoping Lawler beats Beefcake because I would love to see a Tito/Lawler world title program

After getting bested by Bad News Brown, Slick seems to have rebounded well with a strong army

I'm a sucker for the grizzled vets, so aligning Orton and Valentine got a pop from me

The Fantastics have some serious momentum going but can they handle a trip to Nastyville.

Heel Z-Man is great. Hart bringing out his dark side will be an interesting story to watch

If Warrior is passing the torch, I can't think of a better person than the Titan.

I always loved deranged Backlund. I can only hope he gets an IC title run. Think of all those great promos as champion

The commentary was spot on. Hearing Gorilla, Alfred and Gene really brings back memories.

Wahoo & Tatanka get tuned up ahead of their clash with the Ace & the Hammer.

Still not sure how Hart got his hooks into Zenk but the Z-Man is clearly content to let him take the wheel.

Really loving the work on all the promos.

Lawler may have just seriously thrown off Valiant's groove.

Nailz was dangerous on his own but with Mr Backlund guiding the path, he just went to an entirely new level.

Titan makes a hell of a statement flattening DeBeers.

Jake took Andre going into business for himself surprisingly well.

Dino helps his man Earthquake get a grip on the IC belt.

Great preview show for SNME!

Gary Hart and Z-Man is a very interesting combo.  I can't wait to see where this one goes.

While the entire show was great, I was really interested in the idea of Backlund working with Zailz

Ric Flair's promo was awesome!  I wonder if there is anyway to slow him down!!

Awesome job with so much work put in!  Again... so glad you are doing WWF as you have it down compared to what mess I would have made of it!

WWF News & Notes (April 12th – April 18th)

There continues to be significant fallout within the World Wrestling Federation following the departure of The Ultimate Warrior. Multiple sources indicate Warrior had been working under a short-term agreement that was set to expire, with negotiations for a longer deal never gaining traction. The split is being attributed to ongoing tension between Warrior and Vince McMahon, largely centered around Warrior’s increasingly erratic behavior behind the scenes. The final incident reportedly involved Warrior refusing an autograph request and verbally berating a young fan, who was later revealed to be the son of a high-level NBC executive tied to the promotion of the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event special. McMahon is said to have demanded a formal apology to protect the network relationship, something Warrior initially resisted. While the apology was eventually made, it is widely believed that this incident served as the breaking point, leading both sides to part ways.

With Warrior’s exit, the company has accelerated plans for The Titan, a performer who had been earmarked for a long-term push. Those plans have now been moved up significantly, placing Titan into a high-pressure situation much earlier than originally intended. Internally, there is concern that the expectation for Titan to fill the void left by Warrior could be overwhelming, with some describing the situation as a “sink or swim” scenario. Early reactions to Titan have been strong from a visual standpoint, but there is said to be uncertainty regarding how quickly he can adapt to the spotlight at a main event level.

Bad News Brown has also exited the company, though sources stress the split was amicable. Creative reportedly had no immediate direction for him, and Brown opted to explore other opportunities. There is already speculation that he will surface in another promotion in the near future, with at least one southern-based group showing strong interest.

On the broadcast side, Jesse Ventura’s departure is said to stem from long-standing disagreements with McMahon regarding compensation, specifically Ventura’s belief that he was entitled to royalties related to his commentary and likeness. Ventura is reportedly not backing down from that stance, which contributed to McMahon’s decision to end the relationship. Ventura has since signed with World Championship Wrestling, where he was said to have received a lucrative offer that includes expanded responsibilities beyond commentary.

Despite the recent departures, the WWF is said to be planning several major moves in the coming months. There has been consistent talk of multiple high-profile debuts, with the company actively looking to refresh the roster and reestablish momentum heading into the summer. Names have not been confirmed, but sources describe the incoming talent as “impact players” expected to be positioned near the top of the card.

The on-screen alliance between Jake Roberts and Andre the Giant has reportedly generated strong internal interest, though there are growing concerns regarding Andre’s in-ring condition. Those close to the situation note that his mobility has declined more rapidly than anticipated, leading the company to scale back his schedule. Current plans call for Andre to be used primarily on television moving forward, with house show appearances expected to be limited or phased out entirely.

In a notable programming shift, the WWF has made the decision to move forward with the return of Monday Night Raw following internal evaluations of Prime Time Wrestling. Officials reportedly feel that a live, weekly format will provide a more consistent and controllable presentation compared to the taped, magazine-style structure of Prime Time. The live aspect is said to be a major factor in the decision, with the company believing it will create a stronger connection with audiences.

Venue discussions are already underway, with the Manhattan Center in New York City emerging as the leading candidate to host the new program. The building has recently invested in upgraded production capabilities, making it an attractive option for a television-heavy product. Specifically, the Hammerstein Ballroom is being targeted as the primary location.

The transition to Monday Night Raw is currently scheduled to take place the week following Saturday Night’s Main Event, signaling what could be a major turning point for the company both creatively and structurally.

Additional backstage notes indicate some frustration among mid-card talent regarding the increased focus on top-tier storylines, particularly the heavy emphasis on the WWF Championship picture and the King of the Ring build. At the same time, there is quiet optimism that the rumored roster additions and format changes could open new opportunities across the board.
