  1. Since they’re obviously not going on last, I think this is very smart placement for this match. Get the crowd while they’re molten and before they inevitably get burned out.
  2. That Hook/Perry match delivered. Way better than I expected.
  3. My dog’s name is Cheeky, so I guess that means I’m team Daddy Ass too, just like my Bruv @Dav'oh. (I’m Canadian eh, so I hope I used “Bruv” properly?)
  4. Did Kevin Dunn film that LFI vignette? Holy jump cuts.
  5. I guess AEW is the latest promotion stop Zicky Dice’s “Get fired from every Pro Wrestling company in existence” tour.
  6. The Jim Cornette tribute to Funk is now on YouTube as well, as is the special edition of Mick Foley’s podcast covering his friendship with Funk. Obviously, both of these guys knew Terry Funk very well, and both of these tributes are well worth a listen.
  7. This is tragic. Way too young, and with a young family. Sounds like he was loved and respected behind the scenes as well. He was a unique character and really managed to stand out in WWE during an era that seemed so safe and samey. RIP.
  8. When I wrote the aforementioned column about Terry Funk, and how he was the greatest of all time for 411 years ago, I must have gotten a couple of hundred responses. 90% of them were positive. A few of them were from younger fans, who really did not know anything about him, and only knew him as a Chainsaw Charlie, (which was just depressing.) I remember distinctly that I got exactly ONE response from somebody saying they did not like Terry Funk. Specifically, they blamed him for ending the career of Mr. Pogo during some sort of accident in FMW through “negligence.” I don’t remember having heard, or read about that incident anywhere else, but this particular individual was quite irate that people loved Funk so much, since he blamed him for shortening the career of Mr. Pogo. In all my years as a fan, that is about the only person I ever remember having something bad to say about him. Of course, there have been people who have criticized his cartoonish over-selling, but that is a mild criticism at worst.
  9. Hard to find words strong enough to express what Terry Funk meant to Pro Wrestling and to me as a fan. I don’t think anything any of us can say, can really measure how much he meant. One of the first columns I ever wrote for 411 during my tenure as a writer there, was my column laying out the case for Funk as the greatest of all time. I was so happy I got to see him wrestle live, up close and personal when he fought Sabu on June 6, 1999 in Toronto. His final match in Canada. One of the few Pro Wrestling T-shirts I ever proudly wore in public was the infamous “Funk U” shirt, and I went through more than one of them. He is a fucking Legend and we’re never going to see anything even close to him again. Rest in Peace, Funker.
  10. Chad Gable is a hell of a wrestler but this stupid “THANK YOU!” and “Shoosh!” gimmick are both beyond stupid. First Shorty G and now this. Just let the poor guy wrestle.
  11. Who knows if any of this is true, but apparently the incident happened on July 27, Wheeler found out he was being charged on July 28 and he did inform Tony Khan. Apparently you cannot be barred from entering the United Kingdom if you have a charge pending, they will only get into that stuff if you have a conviction on your record. So it’s entirely possible that a Tony Khan knew about all this when they announced the tag title match and they are still planning on going ahead with it.
  12. Apparently it was a “road rage” incident. Which will undoubtedly disappoint the many people on Twitter, who had already decided that it was a domestic abuse situation. Despite the fact there was no evidence whatsoever of that.
  13. So, the story just broke that Cash Wheeler was arrested for an incident that took place on July 28 in Florida. Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. His lawyer entered a Not Guilty plea on his behalf on August 3 and he has his first court appearance this afternoon. WTF?
  14. Oh yeah I forgot about about Joe vs. Punk and now apparently we’re getting Jericho vs. Osprey.
  15. So if I am seeing this correctly, there is going to be one singles match at All In?
  16. That poor woman has mutilated herself past the point of recognition with plastic surgery over the last few years. If you look at a picture of her when she first debuted, and then a picture of her now, she is almost unrecognizable.
  17. Yeah but if Tony Khan had any sort of control over his locker room, none of this shit would have happened to begin with.
  18. Strongly agree. And extra bonus points to anyone who could also get him banned from Twitter.
  19. Being bitter is all part of what makes Bret who he is, I don’t hate him for it. I remember a couple of years ago somebody asked Jim Cornette of all people about Bret. Cornette said that when he worked with Bret, he used to think that Bret took things way too seriously, but then he came to realize that if more people had that attitude, the business would probably be in a much better place than it ended up. And yes…I am aware of the irony of Jim Cornette thinking somebody takes the Pro Wrestling business too seriously.
  20. Bret Hart is totally capable of holding a petty grudge. He personally called Greg Oliver to complain about where he was ranked in Oliver’s book about the greatest Canadian Pro Wrestlers of all time. (And then staged that uncomfortable walk out at the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame over it.) I love Bret Hart, but it’s obvious he and Punk are cut from similar cloth.
  21. It’s actually kind of funny, when you think about it. Punk’s inability to forget a slight (either real or perceived) reminds me of his biggest hero, Bret Hart. Now that dude can hold a grudge. To this day, just see what happens if you mention the name Goldberg or Hulk Hogan or Eric Bischoff around Bret Hart. It’s like he is angrier about them now than he was at the time that he had problems with them originally.
  22. Punk is never going to forgive Page for going off script and shooting on him in that promo way back when. That was really what started this whole mess between him and The Elite. Punk is one of those guys that seems to be incapable of letting stuff go. From everything I have read and heard, Punk is one of those guys that if he decides he likes you, then his generosity and kindness knows no bounds. But if he doesn’t like you or he thinks you have crossed him, then you have yourself an enemy for life. I actually saw Hornswoggle of all people talk about that in a shoot interview, years ago.
  23. Of all the possible CM Punk/Elite matchups that could happen (but aren’t because of this drama) is Punk/Hangman II really one of those anyhow? Is there anybody out there really bemoaning the fact that we are being robbed of that match? I wasn’t even really interested in Punk/Page the first time. I‘d much rather see CMFTR vs. Kenny & The Bucks, Punk vs. Omega, or Punk & Whoever vs. The Bucks. Thanks to his bland, unremarkable character and Tony Khan’s lacklustre booking of him, I can’t honestly think of a Hangman Page match I would be excited to see at this point. The last Hangman rivalry I thought was even remotely good was that series against Moxley and how long ago was that? Maybe they should see if they could milk any more drama out of the Hangman/Dark Order storyline! I think that still has mileage, right?
  24. Yeah, it’s hard to believe most Pro Wrestling fans had pretty much written him off by the end of his last WWE/NXT run. He’s done some great work in AEW/ROH since getting signed.
  25. I can only assume he’s injured…again?
