I wasn’t expecting Samoa Joe to get name dropped on RAW during the main segment leading up to the Main Event of Wrestlemania…but there you have it.
-
Could be wrong but I kind of get the feeling they are leading up to a double turn with Trick and Sami. They seem to be building to something between those two, and with the fans cheering Trick (and his Lemon Peppa Steppas) and Sami acting like he’s about to snap, having all these backstage tantrums, I figured that was the direction they were headed.

I think (hope) they have finally pulled the pin on the Jey Uso singles push/experiment. He’s popular as hell, and the kids love him, but once the bell rings? Yikes. I don’t know how you can literally grow up in the business, be surrounded by family members in the business, have a 18 year career…and despite all that, STILL not be able to throw a halfway decent looking working punch. Plus that dude is just so damn sloppy and all over the place. Jey Uso can move all the merch in the world and fans can Yeet until the cows come home, but he just don’t wrestle so good.

Apparently, on the post show, Nick Aldis announced that McIntyre has to defend the title against Cody on Friday at SmackDown. Which could lead to Cody vs Orton and maybe Fatu vs McIntyre at WM?
-
I did not see that coming.
-
One of the things that I like about the newer stage set up WWE has been using is the interactions between the talent and the kids on the way to the ring. There have been some really cute visuals. Some talent are even stopping to sign autographs, it reminds me of classic World Class.
-
Yeah that was surreal. And Cole got the teeth!
-
Punk vs Balor was pretty much what I was expecting, a decent solid wrestling match. No surprises, but no complaints from me.
-
I’ve seen a couple of people on Twitter saying it was a good match as well. I just don’t see that, but to each their own, I guess.
-
The best thing I can say about that match is that it’s over. And I am quite happy that Becky’s reign is, as well.
-
This is going to be rough I think. AJ hasn’t wrestled in 10 years, and Becky is not exactly setting the world on fire lately.
-
I don’t get the Kiana James push, but whatever.
-
That Women’s Chamber match was pretty good, and the right person definitely won.

A lot of people are speculating it might end up being Danhausen? Coming out of a Boxhausen would be a very Danhausen-like thing to do.
-
Well, according to Vince Russo, during a booking meeting Jim Cornette once loudly proclaimed that “anybody who comes out of a box is automatically over.” Which might be true, although it apparently does not apply to anybody that comes out of a giant egg.

Remember back when if Meltzer reported something, you could actually rely on it to be you know…true? Good times. Apparently now it’s more important to troll people, and get into stupid arguments with marks on Twitter than it is to verify your stories.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
The Thread Killer replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
I finally ended up purchasing it and I’m about a quarter of the way through it. As I imagined it would be, this book has also been meticulously researched. I agree with you, his ridiculous Gorilla Monsoon bashing is one of the many things that I dislike about Dave Meltzer. I would take Gorilla and Jesse (or Gorilla and The Brain) over Excalibur and whoever, or even JR and The King, or especially over Michael Cole, any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I count myself lucky that I was a kid during that era and got to hear them on TV every week and during the early years of PPV. -

Brian Solomon does outstanding research for his books. His book “Blood and Fire” about The Sheik is one of the most comprehensive biographies I’ve ever read, not just of a Pro Wrestler, but of any person (and I have read a ton of biographies.) The Sheik was notoriously private (he is one of those old timers who maintained Kayfabe with his own family) and Sabu said that Solomon uncovered things about his Uncle that even his family didn’t know. I’m not surprised to hear the Monsoon bio is good, I am looking forward to checking it out. -

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

There’s no point trying to have a discussion about the current WWE product at PWO anymore. I still watch the shows and have plenty of opinions, but it’s pointless to share them, or try and have a normal conversation about WWE around here. It’s always just a matter of time before someone (usually people that don’t even watch the current WWE product) come swooping in and start blabbering about the same old boring shit. Saudi Arabia, Donald Trump, MAGA, the Vince lawsuit, blah blah blah. We’ve all heard it a million times already, but apparently you can’t talk about WWE without having to hear the same damn talking points again and again. I am not American, and I wouldn’t be a Trump supporter even if I was. I respect everybody’s right to have an opinion about politics, but this place was literally created out of the ashes of another forum for the express purpose of talking about just Pro Wrestling and leaving all the other crap out of it. My personal last straw was when I had to listen to crap about “Israeli Genocide” and AIPAC in the fucking WWE folder at “Pro Wrestling Only.” It was starting to look like we were about two steps away from certain people complaining about the Jews using their secret weather control machines to affect WWE booking. So I tapped out for good. I gave up. I’m done. I have been posting at PWO since before it was even PWO. I have been a member here since April 2005. That’s literally 20 years. But fuck it. I know for a fact from talking to other former members that there are a significant number of people who quit posting here for the same reason. The fun got sucked right out of this place, and there’s nobody in charge to keep things on point. Sad to see PWO die like this after such a long run, but it is what it is. -
So apparently the injury to Cargill screwed up the finish to the Main Event last night. I remember as I was watching the match I thought something wonky had happened, but I only had one eye on that match because I was also watching the Jays/Rays game at the same time, so it didn’t have my undivided attention. Supposedly, Stratton was always supposed to go over, but Cargill was supposed to break up a pin, which she didn’t do. Even after she got busted open, Cargill hit her finish on Jax, and then Stratton dropkicked Cargill and went for the cover herself. Cargill was supposed to break up that pin attempt, but instead she rolled out of the ring and was being checked on by the doctor. So the ref makes the count, but once the ref realizes that Cargill isn’t going to break up the pin she just stops counting at 2, and Jax doesn’t even try and kick out. Apparently the fans started booing (I didn’t notice at the time because I had the sound muted…both because I was watching the baseball game, and because the commentary team was Michael Cole and Booker T, which I’m pretty sure is the commentary team in hell.) Stratton ended up going to the top rope, hitting her Moonsault for the win, but apparently that was not the planned finish. Apparently you won’t be able to see any of this on YouTube because they have edited the clip. What a clusterfuck.

DAMN Cargill posted a couple of follow up pictures of the cut on Instagram and it’s pretty gross. I’m not even going to repost them here because they might make people sick. That’s going to leave a nasty scar, and she’s going to be out for a bit, I bet.

Nia Jax strikes again. During the main event tonight on Smackdown, she threw Jade Cargill headfirst into the steel steps, and Cargill came up bleeding badly from a cut on her forehead. It was a pretty nasty looking cut, and there’s no way she had time to do it herself. Mind you, a lot of the blame for that probably needs to go on Cargill for not protecting herself.
