I would totally watch the hell out of The Running Man. Especially if there was a celebrity version, like where you could get people that had been on Big Brother.

Vince must really be serious about selling. I saw a business report about the potential sale and one of the analysts was saying that pending lawsuits against the company could scare off any serious buyers. That’s great news for anybody who has a lawsuit already filed against WWE. Especially MLW, which is hilarious because apparently their lawsuit is transparent and flimsy. They could end up getting paid just to go away and not screw up the sale. Jerry McDevitt finally has an Achilles heel visible to everybody. -

The sheer volume and heartfelt response to Jay Briscoe passing has been really amazing. It sounds like practically everybody loved the guy, and almost every tribute mentions how much he loved his family. It’s a testament to him. I’m sad to say that I have become almost desensitized to Pro Wrestling deaths over the years but this one feels different to me. Maybe because I have always been such a huge fan. Just so sad about this. -

Here’s the thing… Scientologists usually end up forking over a ton of their earnings to support the “church.” I’m willing to bet as soon as David Miscavige approaches the Hulkster with his hand out, Hogan will stroke his moustache and tell the beloved leader: “That doesn’t work for me, brother.” -

Big time. He’s already briefly mentioned The Hart Foundation vs. Brain Busters at Summerslam 89, they should do a watch-along on that one. It’s a shame Matt Koon is such a choade. This show would be so much better with Sean Oliver, Jon Alba or even Conrad himself. Could be worse I guess. Could be Paul Bromwell or (shudder) Casio Kid. -

I just assume he would take all the talent from NXT, Raw and Smackdown and add them to the AEW roster. Maybe then AEW would finally be big enough for him. #EverybodyEverywhereIsALLELITE -

Yeah that segment was even worse than I thought it would be. Starks has been money lately but he did indeed seem “off”there. Also…probably dumb to have a guy issue a challenge for a match next week that was already announced earlier in the show. Excalibur had to try and explain it.
-
I thought the match was pretty damn good, all things considered. It was noteworthy how popular Takeshita is with the AEW fans too. They might be onto something with him. Unless Tony Khan screws it up. Which he probably will. One roster can only handle so much “can’t miss” young talent when they only have 3 hours of TV a week. But I hope I’m wrong, I kind of like Takeshita.

I just saw that they have Wille Mack losing to Brian Fucking Cage on Dark this week. That’s bizarre and kind of depressing. I used to think Mack had a ton of potential and I assumed Impact did as well when they poached him from the NWA right before Power debuted. Now he’s jobbing on a YouTube show. Sad.

I’m having a really hard time getting into this show, I am really bummed out about Jeff Beck passing away.

Yeah I’m as a big an MJF fan as you’re going to find, but that was pretty weak to be honest. That actually reminded me of Miz, and that’s not a compliment.

I read an interesting clip from an interview with Konnan today. As full of crap as he is capable of being, there are times when I believe him. It’s pretty much a fact that he either works as a manager/booking agent/advisor for a lot of the Lucha guys who end up signing with companies in the U.S. He was talking about Dragon Lee and his decision to sign with NXT over AEW. Konnan basically said that they looked at the talent in AEW and the talent in NXT/WWE and decided that he would stand out in NXT, whereas in AEW he’d probably just vanish into the ether and rarely end up on TV. Supposedly the reason for the fallout between Santana and Ortiz was the fact that they were never getting used. Santana wanted to leave and go elsewhere but Ortiz was content to collect a massive paycheque and appear on Dark or in a segment on Dynamite standing behind Jericho. I have to wonder if the guys like Santana and Dragon Lee who don’t just want to get paid…they actually want to work, if people like that are going to start having second thoughts about AEW being the promised land when they see how massive and bloated the roster is, how it is always growing and never seems to shrink, if that will affect other people’s decision when it comes time to decide where to go. Then again…Jeff Jarrett is supposedly on the brink of booking AEW house shows, ROH TV (such as it is) will be starting soon, and most importantly of all, now that Vince is back and all the uncertainty that entails, maybe AEW is still the safer call. I just think it’s noteworthy that Dragon Lee chose NXT specifically because he wanted to stand out and not get lost in the massive crowd in AEW.

Grunge might not always have been great, but at least it consigned the scourge that was “Hair Metal” to the dustbin, so for that if nothing else, I am eternally grateful. No matter what you think of the popular music from the early to mid 90’s, we definitely traded up. And then…”Nu Metal” happened. -

Somebody really needs to take her Twitter privileges away. Even if this was supposedly intended to further the angle, using phrases like “work” in this Tweet just makes her look like…yeah. But hey, at least she censored herself and didn’t fully type out the word “shit.” -

Sounds like Dwayne tried to make a power play and got denied. I am interested to see what the new long term plans are for DC when Gunn unveils them this month. A bit of continuity would be nice. A lot of people are expecting a total DC Universe reboot, and apparently Dwayne Johnson and Black Adam didn’t fit into those plans. Based on how the movie did, I can’t say I blame them. -

I am seeing two different takes about this situation. The first seems to be that Vince thinks if he can’t run WWE he is just going to come back as chairman, and force a sale. Basically he’d rather not own it if he can’t run it. In this scenario, he apparently would have no involvement in creative or anything else, he just wants to stack the board, negotiate the next rights deal in order to maximize the stock price and then immediately force a sale. The next scenario is that this is just his way of forcing his way back into control of the entire company and sooner rather than later, he will be back in control of everything, including creative. Some people are speculating this means he will reverse all of the changes that have been made over the last four months. I’m not sure which scenario is closer to the truth and I don’t know if there is any reliable reporting out there yet about which scenario is likely to happen?
