  1. I can see why the way I interact with some promotions may be upsetting to you. But I don't apologize. At least Parv was able to make his breaking ties with me into a fun in-game thing and not get all personally upset about it. He and I have no issues outside this game.
  2. You should do your own homework on Joe Blanchard's relationships with other promoters. Specifically how he started running San Antonio and the stuff he did in Houston. And the hilariously inept opposition shows he ran in Forth Worth at the height of Freebirds/Von Erichs mania. As for the Memphis thing, I made The Fabs deal and then was asked to run a joint show with ICW after I'd already made it. Doing both didn't make sense. I could have waited until after he'd advertised The Fabs on TV and then pulled them before the MSC card if I was doing it just to be a dick.
  3. Then don't work with me. I didn't break any game rules so your crusade to try and get me kicked out or something ain't gonna happen.
  4. All the territories didn't work together in perfect harmony.

    NXT TakeOver Brooklyn

I thought we were talking about why it might not be realistic to expect Sasha Banks or the rest of the NXT crew to be busting out Takeover level performances on Raw. I never said anything about it being "unusual" to practice/rehearse a match.

    NXT TakeOver Brooklyn

There is a difference between planning out the match ahead of time by talking about it and literally getting in the ring and practicing it. I am not saying either of them is wrong or better than the other just pointing out the difference. And that's what is being talked about, not having the time to get in the ring before Raw and practice a match.
  7. Whoa Mike Fever got really fat between the 1981 Georgia I just saw on youtube where he was a scrawny jobber and the 1986 Continental where I am familiar with him as a fat ugly jobber. I don't know what I'm working with now.
  8. I'll pick up Mike Fever, the man from "anywhere but Birmingham, Alabama"
  9. I don't think it's really far to say there was "no long term booking" in Memphis because they would run long rivalries and guys would have a series of matches leading to a blow off. But yes they also did a lot of hot shot "set it up on Saturday, blow if off on Monday" type stuff also. As far as my favorite style I would go with Southeastern/Continental. Almost everyone on the roster was involved in some kind of feud or story and they weren't all independent of each other. You would get a mingling of stuff with the babyfaces all looking out for each other and stuff like that. They wanted to sell you into the arena every Monday night at the Boutwell Auditorium but they would have have really long running feuds and eventually you would get a pay off after 3-6 months of the same feud running. Usually in the form of a loser leaves town. In the Continental days you could watch this unfold right on TV with the Rip Rogers/Adrian Street feud that I watched from 1986 being the best example. I asked Rip about that on twitter and he said those two wrestled each other non stop for pretty much 120 days straight. So that was a 6 month feud where they did a lot of different stuff to keep people interested and keep the story moving and at the end of it Adrian Street won a Loser Leaves Town match and Rip Rogers left. Kind of a perfect feud to look at for "weekly episodic booking" of a long running feud. So I guess that would fit more in the storytelling category than the big match category but you would eventually get a big match at the end of it. I've tried to copy that style, especially with trying to give everyone on roster something to do and every match on the arena card a purpose, with what I'm doing in the 1983 project. While also adding in a little of the "hot shot an angle on TV and blow it off at the arena" stuff from Memphis.
  10. I put that Tombstone/Top Rope Legdrop finisher of The Nightmares up there with just about any other tag team. When you saw them hit that you knew it was over. I like the Greg Gagne turn. I thought watching him on the AWA set that he might have had a good heel run in him if he had worked anywhere else.
  11. "You people want to know where is the beef? Well here is the beef! All the beef you can handle!"
  12. Looking forward to it. I hope the time difference between our promotions doesn't end up "spoiling" anything you decided to do with Duggan while he was there.
  13. Like I said, that was my last word on it in this thread. To bring this back about in game discussion, I posted my new TV show today with a Jose Lothario's explanation of his turn on El Gran Apollo and did a bunch of other stuff. So much so that even the cliff notes version I posted looked stupidly long. dawho5 also posted a new Montreal TV episode with a very fun exchange between Goldie Rogers & Jacques Rougeau and a pretty awesome 6 man tag main event.
  14. I'm talking about the reason I cut ties with you in the first place, you taking shots at me in here and torpedoing your own attempt to have a discussion about how territory takeovers work by doing so. And that's my last word on it because dawho is right and that's the whole reason I didn't feel any need to explain myself in here in the first place.
  15. Well as for LowBlow it says don't come in here and turn a game discussion into a chance to take personal shots. Especially when turning the focus onto me killed any discussion of what he wanted to talk about.
  16. Yes everyone has the option to sign in anonymously. I choose to do so.
  17. I didn't block you. I also didn't cut ties, you cut ties and I still let you keep your dates on David. So a big shoulder shrug from me.
  18. Where was the warning that Rip Rogers didn't have bleached blonde hair in that Johnny Rich match!? That really threw me off for a minute.
  19. Cliff Notes Version: -Steve Stack asked Jose Lothario about what happened between him and El Gran Apollo -Jose said it was Apollo's fault for trying to steal the spotlight. With the loser being barred from entering the state of Texas for one year. -Steve Stack played the video of what happened between Jose & El Gran Apollo at the HemisFair Arena. Afterwards he talked to a depressed Apollo who said he was leaving the area and going back to Puerto Rico -Mil Mascaras made a surprise appearance and challenge Jose to a match for insulting him and the fans -Lord Alfred Hayes said Stan Stasiak paid the price for trying to wrestle Steve Pardee without him at ringside. He then informed Steve Stack that Mike Masters attacked Stasiak for Lord Alfred's help in getting him a manager's license and he has not taken over as a manager of Mike Masters. -David Von Erich talked about Tully's tour around the United States defending the Southwest Title and said it had nothing to do with Killer Khan being gone. -David said since he didn't have any suitable competition this week that he would take Sunshine on a vacation and show her a greater standard of living than Jimmy Garvin ever could have. -The Assassin interupted Steve Stack and complained about his treatment in the Southwest area. He said he is going to go to Alabama to collect a bounty but when he comes back there will be a day of reckoning for everyone in Southwest. -Eddie Gilbert talked about the whipping he received from Charlie Cook and said if he doesn't beat Charlie Cook this Sunday he will leave the Southwest area because of how he's been humiliated. -The Fabulous Ones defeated Ali Bey & Juan Reynosa in dominating fashion -The Fabs talked about their AWA World Tag Team title shot against their rivals The Wild Bills -Video was played of an argument between Robert Fuller & Roy Lee Welch from the locker room of the HemisFair Arena where Robert said he was done coming to Texas to team with Roy and that Roy was an embarassment to the family who would never be a champion -Roy said he and Robert will patch things up because they are family and he was still trying to secure a Southwest Tag Team Title shot for he and his cousin -Eddy Mansfield defeated Roy Lee Welch in the Southwest TV Title Tournament by knocking him out with a chain *Yea I realize even the cliff notes version is ridiculously long. Oh well...I had a lot to shit to get to. 20. Taped at The Junction in San Antonio, TX on 8/22 Southwest Championship Wrestling airing on Saturday 8/27 in local markets Steve Stack: Welcome to another edition of Southwest Championship Wrestling! If you weren't at the HemisFair Arena last Sunday night then you missed one of the biggest nights of wrestling action that San Antonio and the entire state of Texas has ever seen! We saw 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan defeat Killer Khan who hasn't been seen or heard from since Sunday night, The Fabulous Ones defeated The Assassins to secure their AWA World Tag Team Title shot this Sunday night against the Wild Bills, we saw a controversial decision rendered in the Eddie Gilbert/Charlie Cook match that we will talk about more later in the hour but we also saw something else that personally upset me and I asked for time right here on the opening of the show to talk about it. I'd like to bring in Jose Lothario right now and talk to him about why he attacked his partner El Gran Apollo and busted him open by slamming his head into the steel ring post. Jose Lothario comes into the interview area Steve Stack: Jose thank you for coming out here. Now you have been a legend in the state of Texas for many years, there are fans all across the Southwest area who look up to you as a hero and were incredibly disappointed by what happened in the match with you and El Gran Apollo. We have a video taped interview from El Gran Apollo that we are going to show later in the hour but Apollo didn't even want to come on television today he was so distraught by what took place and apparently he has already left the state of Texas and gone back to Puerto Rico. Can you explain to the people just what happened between you and Apollo last Sunday night? Jose Lothario: Really Steve Stack there is not a lot of explaining to do. El Gran Apollo came in the ring and hit me and I got angry and I hit him back. Then I tried to calm down and accept that he made a mistake when he jumped me and started beating on me and knocked me out of the ring. Then when he came out after me I only defended myself and ran his head into the ring post. Steve Stack: Jose I....Jose I don't want to say you're not telling the truth but that is not at all how things happened. We have the video to play later in the hour and Jose Lothario: I don't care about the video! I know what happened. El Gran Apollo got what he deserved not just for last Sunday night but for how he has been trying to steal the spotlight from me this whole time. I bring this kid in here and try to help make him a champion but all he wants to do is try to show me up, try to steal my fans and upstage me. Well he didn't upstage me Sunday night when he was bleeding all over the floor of the HemisFair Arena! But I don't just blame Apollo, I blame these people for giving him a big head, cheering him like he's some kind rock star just because he has a nice body and a pretty face! Steve Stack: Jose this isn't like you at all you can't mean the things you are saying! Jose Lothario: I mean all of it! I used to be able to believe in my people, to know that they had my back and they were behind me. And then they start cheering this young upstart from Cuba, this punk kid who doesn't know anything about our way of life, he doesn't know anything about what it is like to come here from Mexico and try to make a living in the United States! He's had everything handed to him by promoters while I had to fight for everything and the people want to cheer him more than me?! They think that a Cuban can be the hero of the Mexican people? Well it's not going to happen! Because he is gone! And next week I will have a real hero here, a real Mexican hero to groom, someone who will listen to me and do things the right way. Next week I will introduce these people to a man from Mexico who is truly worthy of being my protege and they can go ahead and forget the name El Gran Apollo! -Jose walks off the interview set Steve Stack: Fans...I'm sorry but I don't even know what to say after that. I am truly saddened by the things I just heard. Please let's just take our first break. -First Commercial Break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and right now I have with me a man who made his debut at the HemisFair Arena last Sunday night and is getting ready to head to the ring to face Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie in the first round of the Southwest TV Title tournament, Ron Starr! Ron I know you're fired up for your match here today but I'd like to get a quick word from you about why you've made your way here to the Southwest area. Ron Starr: I've got a bit of a reputation of not staying in one place too long and being a bit of a drifter in this crazy world of professional wrestling. I heard that this area was catching fire and had some of the toughest competition in professional wrestling. So I called up the offices of Southwest Championship Wrestling and told them I wanted to come in and they immediately offered me a chance to compete in this tournament for the TV Title so I knew there was no turning back and I made my way here to Texas for the first time in my career. Steve Stack: We saw you defeat The Turk, Ali Bey in a pretty dominating fashion last Sunday night but afterwards you were attacked by your opponent here today Sheik Adnan. What are your thoughts about your debut and Sheik Adnan? Ron Starr: Well I thought that Ali Bey was a tough competitor but I've been in the ring with plenty of tough wrestlers and I'm not afraid to use rough tactics back if that's what I get faced with. So I was able to take down the Turk but then I got jumped from behind by that no good coward Sheik Adnan. Now I've never run into this man before in my career but I am guessing he thought he'd try and wear me out a bit and make things easier for himself in our tournament matchup today. But things didn't quite work out for him because he was the one who got sent running from the ring while I called him back to fight some more! There isn't going to be any running now though, I'm about to head down to that ring to beat his brains in and move on to the 2nd round of the Southwest TV Title tournament! Steve Stack: Well fans you just got your first introduction to Ron Starr and now let's head down to the ring where he's going to be in action against Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie! Steve Stack: Wow! What an incredibly fast win by Ron Starr who just tore right through Sheik Adnan! We have a lot of time left in this segment now and no stand by match so I will take this time to talk about the big matches taking place this Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena! Obviously the big main event is The Fabulous Ones getting an AWA World Tag Team Title shot against a team they've had quite a bit of history with over the past 2 months, The Wild Bills and -Suddenly Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie comes in the interview area shouting and raving Sheik Adnan: He can not do this to me! He can not humiliate me like this! That was a fast count! The referee was biased against me! He is man without integrity like every other American in this country! He doesn't want me to become a champion here and establish myself as a citizen of Texas so that I can buy all the oil field in this state! Well he can not stop me! No one will stop me! I will get revenge for my people, we will cut off the flow of oil to this country and bring it to it's knees! I have the backing of the President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein! I have the backing of Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud the King of Saudi Arabia, the support of all the OPEC Nations and - 'Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes into the area and grabs the microphone away from Sheik Adnan! Duggan: I've heard all of this I can take! I'm sick of hearing you run down my country and make your threats! You can come out here and talk tough all you want but you aren't fooling any of these people because we all know you're weak and we know you can't back up any of it in that ring! Sheik Adnan: Who is this peasant to come out here and interrupt me!? I have enough money to buy and sell everyone in your family a thousand times over you big stupid ugly worthless Ameri- Duggan: You say one more word and I'm gonna knock you out! You think your money makes you tough but it doesn't mean anything in that ring! I could beat a chump like you with one hand tied behind my back! Sheik Adnan: You are a typical American: a liar! You could never do what you have just said! No American could ever beat me with one arm tied behind his back, it is an insult to even think it! Duggan: Put your money where your mouth is then tough guy! I can do it and I will if you have the guts to try it! Sheik Adnan: Oh I will put more than my money on the line. I know you are too much of a coward to ever sign a contract for a match like that, I will force you to do it! Because I know that if I offer to leave the state of Texas if you beat me with one arm tied behind your back you will never be able to refuse. Duggan: I'm not afraid of you and I'm gonna send you right out of Texas just like I did Killer Khan, only with a chump like you I'm only gonna need one hand. Sheik Adnan: Ok Jim Duggan you are so sure of yourself, so full of false pride like this whole country. I will have a contract made up that we will wrestle this Sunday night, you with one arm tied behind your back and if I lose then I will be barred from even entering the state of Texas for one year. But if you lose then you must suffer the same fate, you will be gone from Texas for one year and when you come back this state will belong to ME! Duggan: I already got one arm tied behind my back for this match, I'm not gonna agree to leave Texas if I lose, I plan to be here a long time. Sheik Adnan: You see that! This man is a liar, he knows that he can not beat me he knows that he will lose, that I will humiliate him and Duggan: Shut up! If that's what it's gonna take to shut your mouth then fine! You get the contract made up and I'll sign it. Because it doesn't make any difference all I need is one fist to knock your lights out! Sheik Adnan: You are a fool Jim Duggan! You have just made the biggest mistake of your career! Say goodbye to this peasant because this is the last time you will see him on this TV show! Hahaha -Sheik Adnan walks away laughing Steve Stack: Jim, I'm not one to question your toughness after the way you beat the Monster from Mongolia Killer Khan last Sunday, but are you sure about this? You have to face him with one hand tied behind your back and if you lose you're going to be barred from the state of Texas. Duggan: Steve Stack that's the only way I'm ever going to get a coward like that in a situation where he'll leave. He thinks everything is stacked in his favor but I promise the people one thing: There is nothing he can do to me that is going to break me and I WILL win and get him out of Texas! Steve Stack: Well the stakes couldn't get any higher this Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena! We have to take a time out for our sponsors but don't go anywhere because when we come back we're gonna see the video of what took place last Sunday night between Jose Lothario and El Gran Apollo! -Second Commercial Break- Steve Stack: Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling! At the top of the hour I had a chance to talk to Jose Lothario about what happened between he and El Gran Apollo last Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena. Now we are going to show you the footage of just what took place and how the tape doesn't exactly match up with what Jose Lothario had to say about the incident. Immediately following that footage we'll also play an interview that I conducted in the locker room of the HemisFair Arena with a very dejected El Gran Apollo an hour after the matches were over and almost everyone else had already left the dressing room area. Video is shown of the match between Jose & El Gran Apollo vs. The Texas Dynasty starting at the point where Jose tagged in El Gran Apollo while holding Tully's arms. El Gran Apollo is shown hitting Jose Lothario by accident, Jose slapping him around and then Apollo finally having enough and retaliating and knocking Jose out of the ring. Then Apollo is kneed in the back by David Von Erich sending him flying through the ropes leading to Jose Lothario grabbing him and slamming his head into the ring post. Then the video cuts to the locker room of the HemisFair Arena where Steve Stack is standing with El Gran Apollo who is sitting on a bench in the locker room with dried blood still on his forehead Steve Stack: I'm standing now in the locker room of the HemisFair Arena after hearing word that El Gran Apollo was still sitting back here in shock, not having even taken a shower to wash the blood off of his face. Apollo can you give us your reaction to what happened in your match tonight? Apollo: I no want to talk about it. Steve Stack: I can tell you're very upset about what happened, I know Jose was like a mentor to you, do you have any plans to try and get revenge against him for what he did to you? Apollo: No. I no want to fight that man. I don't stay here in Texas now. I feel embarrass by what happen to me tonight. Steve Stack: Wait a minute? You're going to leave the area? Apollo: Yes. I can not fight Jose Lothario. It hurt me too much. I was wrestle in Puerto Rico before I come here now I go back there. I thank all the people who cheer for me when I was here but now I go. Steve Stack: Apollo you can't just leave like this, the people here don't want to see you go. Apollo: I sorry Steve. I no have more to say. The video cuts off and the camera goes back to Steve Stack standing in the interview area at The Junction Steve Stack: I have talked to a lot of emotional wrestlers after a lot of tense situations but I have never seen a wrestler look so distraught before in my wrestling career. I heard that El Gran Apollo is already back in Puerto Rico and I would like to wish the young man all the luck in the world because I know he has an incredible career ahead of him and - Suddenly Mil Mascaras walks into the interview area Steve Stack: Whoa! Ladies and gentleman this a surprise not just to you but to me also! Mil Mascaras you weren't scheduled to be here today, what brings you to San Antonio? Mil Mascaras: I came here to talk to a man who has been my friend for many years, Jose Lothario. I heard what happened last Sunday and it did not sound like the man I knew so I only came here to talk to him. I didn't plan to come out here on TV and talk at all, I only wanted to talk to Jose in private. But Jose disrespected me and told me that he didn't care about anything I had to say to him, he told me he didn't do anything wrong and he didn't care what I think. Then I heard what he said about the people, I saw the video of what he did, and I saw that young man who he hurt. Jose Lothario, I don't know what is wrong with you. You are not the man who I know, the man who I have teamed with many times to battle men who have insulted us and insulted our people. And now YOU come out here and insult our people! Well Jose I never thought I would fight you, but that is what I am going to do. I asked for a match with you this Sunday at the HemisFair Arena and if I couldn't talk some sense into you then I will have to try and beat it into you in the ring! Mil Mascaras walks off from the interview area Steve Stack: Wow! That's a match I never thought I would see in my life time! Jose Lothario versus Mil Mascaras this Sunday night! Fans you never know what is going to happen here on Southwest Championship Wrestling! Don't go away because when we come back we are going to talk to Lord Alfred Hayes and see just what happened Sunday night between him, Stan Stasiak and Mike Masters. -Third Commercial Break- Steve Stack: We're back on Southwest Championship Wrestling and standing with me is Lord Alfred Hayes! Lord Alfred, last Sunday night we saw Stan Stasiak come out for his match without you and then saw you and Mike Masters hit the ring and attack him after the match was over. Could you tell us what exactly caused this chain of events? Lord Alfred: Is it really so hard for you to figure out Steven Stack? That idiot Stan Stasiak thought that he would be better off without me at ringside for his match with the detestable Steve Pardee and told me to stay in the locker room. Can you believe that?! A manager with my skill and expertise told to stay away from ringside? And what did he achieve without my guidance? Nothing! He lost to that insufferable youth who is somehow the luckiest man in Texas! A former WWF World Heavyweight Champion reduced to losing to a complete nothing, a nobody in this sport! I refused to allow myself to be besmirched and so after the argument that Stan Stasiak and I had before his match, I was approached by a young man who offered me his services as an agent of revenge. Mike Masters told me that he had been fined for being at ringside during Tiny Anderson's match and asked for my help in attaining a manager's license and in return he would take care of Stan Stasiak for me. And that is exactly what happened. Stan Stasiak suffered severe injuries after the Full Nelson by Mike Masters and he will never be seen in a wrestling ring again. That is the price to be paid for turning your back on me, for besmirching my good name. Steve Stack: So you have not taken over as a manager of Mike Masters then? Lord Alfred: Heavens no! The man is impressive, I don't deny it, but I require a far more refined and experienced competitor to attach myself to. I am going to go off in search of that man and the next time you see me he will be at my side and I will give Southwest Championship Wrestling the champion that I have promised. Cheers. -Lord Alfred leaves the interview area and David Von Erich and Sunshine come in Steve Stack: Now I'd like to welcome David Von Erich and Sunshine to - David Von Erich: The lovely Sunshine! Don't you have any manners Steve Stack? Don't you know how to talk to a lady? Obviously not, just look at your cheap suit you wouldn't know what class was if it bit you. You see this suit I'm wearing? You see that dress Sunshine has on? This is what class looks like Steve, take notes. Steve Stack: Thank you for the lesson David. I'd like to ask you where your partner in the Texas Dynasty is this week, I heard he's not here in The Junction today. David Von Erich: Of course he's not here. Didn't you hear him last week? He told you he was going to go off and defend his Southwest Heavyweight Title around the country since he can't get the respect he deserves around here. Why are The Fabulous Ones just handed a World Tag Team Title shot when WE are the ones with the Southwest Tag Team Titles? Why isn't Hulk Hogan here defending the AWA World Title against Tully Blanchard, the Southwest Heavyweight Champion? Because Stanley Blackburn knows we would just add those belts to the collection we already have now. Steve Stack: So Tully's absence here today has nothing to do with the fact that his bodyguard Killer Khan seems to have left the state of Texas after losing his Coward's Way Out match against Jim Duggan? David Von Erich: He doesn't need Killer Khan around! If Killer Khan is too much of a coward to fight Jim Duggan we don't need him around here anymore anyway! He served his purpose, he got rid of the trash that was hanging around Southwest Championship Wrestling and now Jim Duggan let his big mouth get him in trouble and he'll be gone soon too. I don't have any love for Sheik Adnan and the things he's saying about America or the state of Texas but there's no way Jim Duggan is going to be able to beat him with one hand behind his back. Steve Stack: Well lets get back to the discussion about championships, it seems your opponent in the second round of the Southwest Television Tournament, El Gran Apollo, has left the area. That would give you a bye straight to finals. David Von Erich: Don't think I didn't notice that myself Steve Stack. And since Stanley Blackburn couldn't find me and suitable opponent for this Sunday night it looks like Sunshine and I are going to have a week off. We are going to have ourselves a nice little vacation and I am going to show her how a real high class man of Texas treats a lady. If she thought she was living the high life on the arm of Jimmy Garvin, she hasn't seen anything yet. And now Steve Stack, I think it's time to end this interview. I don't like the way you're looking at my woman and if you keep on doing it I might have to knock those googly eyes right out of your head. -David Von Erich & Sunshine leave the interview area Steve Stack: Well we have a little time left before we have to go to our next break so I'd like to take this time to - Suddenly The Assassin comes into the interview area The Assassin: You'd like to take this time to welcome The Assassin out here is what you were about to say isn't it? Yes it was Steve Stack, thank you. You know, I have wrestled in nearly every promotion in the country and I have never been disrespected the way I have here in Southwest Championship Wrestling. First I'm invited here to take place in a tournament and then when I get here I'm threatened with having my place in the tournament taken away from me, then I'm denied a shot at the Southwest Tag Team Titles due to the incompetence of a referee and now I'm told that there is no time for me on the TV show so I have to come out here and make it for myself. You don't mind do you Steve? I didn't think so. But that's not the last insults, that's not the last injustice that has been perpetrated against me and my partner. Now with the World Tag Team Champions coming into the area, we don't get the Southwest Tag Team Title shot that we still deserve, no Tully Blanchard & David Von Erich aren't even going to be in the HemisFair Arena this Sunday. Instead we are given competition, and I use that term very loosely, like The Masked Wildfire and Jimmy Doo. Well that's the last injustice that I am going to stand for. I didn't get the name of The Assassin for nothing. There is a large bounty out in Alabama on a man I have a long history with. And I have resisted the urge to go and collect that bounty for weeks now, but since the promoters of Southwest Championship Wrestling refuse to give me anything worthy of my time, since they are denying me the ability to reach my earning potential as a champion, I am going to go collect that bounty. So you may not see me here for a few weeks after today. But I will be back. And when I come back, I promise that it will be a day of reckoning for everyone who has helped to perpetrate the injustices against The Assassins over the last few weeks. Now you can have your microphone back Steve Stack. -The Assassin leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Almost out of time don't touch that dial when we come back we're gonna talk to Eddie Gilbert! -Fourth Commercial Break- Steve Stack: Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling! With me now is Eddie Gilbert who was declared the winner of Charlie Cook last Sunday night at the HemisFair Arena but there was quite a bit of controversy surrounding how that all went down. Eddie Gilbert: That's right Steve. I'm not gonna make any excuses about it, Charlie Cook beat me fair and square in the middle of the ring. But then after the match he did something that still makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. Steve Stack: Well let me tell the fans at home exactly what happened. Charlie Cook defeated you after a football tackle but after the match he shoved down referee Jack Howe, took Jack's belt off of him and then proceeded to whip you across your back with that belt and attack anyone who tried to come into the ring to stop him. Eddie Gilbert: That is what happened and if you'll bring the camera in you can still the cuts on my back where he whipped me with that belt. All I ever wanted to do when I came out here to talk to that man last week was try and make peace between him and Ken Lucas. Well now things have gone way beyond that. Charlie Cook you disrespected me, you humiliated and embarrassed me and tried to treat me like I'm less than a man. Well I might be a lot younger than you but I AM A MAN! And I can't allow anyone to do what you did to me and let it stand! I was on the phone with Ken Lucas and he begged me not to come out here and make this challenge but I have no other choice. Charlie Cook I want a rematch with you! I am going to prove to you and everyone who was in the arena last week and everyone watching at home that I AM a man and I do belong in the wrestling business. If I don't beat you Sunday night then I will never be able to show my face in this area again and I will leave Southwest Championship Wrestling! Steve Stack: Well Eddie I'm not doubting you but I don't know how wise this challenge is. Eddie Gilbert: I don't care! Ken Lucas couldn't talk me out of it and neither can you. Charlie Cook I know you think I'm just some punk kid well Sunday night you are gonna find out just how wrong you are. -Eddie Gilbert leaves the interview area Steve Stack: Well fans Charlie Cook wasn't allowed on TV today due to his actions we just talked about but I have to imagine he will absolutely accept that challenge by Eddie Gilbert. I wish that young man all the luck in the world, it would be a shame to lose such a talented young competitor here in the Southwest area but now let's head down to the ring where the number one contenders to the AWA World Tag Team Titles, The Fabulous Ones, are standing in the ring ready for action! Steve Stack: Another impressive win for Stan Lane & Steve Keirn, The Fabulous Ones! Now I'd like to welcome them over here to interview area and talk to them about their big match this Sunday night against the AWA World Tag Team Champions, The Wild Bills! Stan Lane: We couldn't be happier about who our opponents are this Sunday night. Not just because it means we get a shot at the AWA World Tag Team Titles but because The Wild Bills have a giant butt kicking coming their way after what they did to us a few weeks ago and we've finally got them back down here in Texas to give it to them! Steve Keirn: The Wild Bills thought they were just gonna hit and run, beat us up, bust me open and then run on back to Minnesota where they were safe. Well they aren't gonna be safe Sunday night because I have been thinking about what I would do to them if I ever got my chance for revenge and I can promise you they aren't going to like it! Stan Lane: But while we're out here I'd like to congratulate our good friend 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan for his big win of Killer Khan and getting rid of that big monster from the Southwest area. Tully Blanchard liked to play that song for Killer Khan well Death did ride a horse again last Sunday night, he rode it right out of Texas! Steve Keirn: David could come out here and say all he wants, but we both know that the real reason that he and Tully are trying to avoid this area is because they have a big receipt coming their way from us and now they don't have Killer Khan to hide behind and protect them. You two boys enjoy your little trip away from the Southwest area because when you come back we are going to be the AWA World Tag Team Champions and there won't be any more avoiding us. Steve Stack: Let me wish you two luck this Sunday night, I know everyone here would love to see a team from this area win the AWA World Tag Team Titles. Now we have to take one more time out and when we come back we'll have our main event, the last match in the first round of the Southwest TV Title tournament: Eddy Mansfield vs. Roy Lee Welch! -Fifth and final commercial break- Steve Stack:Welcome back to Southwest Championship Wrestling! Before we get to our main event of Roy Lee Welch taking on Eddy Mansfield I'd like to talk to Roy about the interview I conducted with he and Robert Fuller from the locker room of the HemisFair Arena. Let's take a look at that video and then you'll have a chance to comment on it Roy. Video plays of Robert Fuller & Roy Lee Welch arguing in the locker room of the HemisFair Arena Robert Fuller: You told me we were going to be rasslin the Southwest Tag Team Champions! And then I get here and we're rasslin two skinny goofs who probably never won a match in their lives! Roy Lee Welch: I tried to get us a match with The Texas Dynasty but - Robert Fuller: I don't want to hear any excuses! I should have listened to cousin Jimmy when he told me not to come down here to Texas and waste my time with ya! Roy you ain't never been a champion and you ain't never gonna be a champion! You are an embarrassment to our whole family and I hope you stay down here in Texas and don't ever come back to Alabama to tarnish our family name! Roy Lee Welch: Robert I know you're mad at me right now but you don't mean that! Robert! Where are you going!? -Robert Fuller walks off and the camera watches him leave out of the arena and the video cuts off and goes back to Steve Stack & Roy Lee Welch standing at The Junction Steve Stack: I'm sorry we had to air your family business like that on TV Roy but I know the people who were in the HemisFair Arena wanted to know just what was wrong with you and Robert last Sunday night. Roy Lee Welch: Our family has always been a bit tumultuous Steve, but I know Robert is going to eventually calm down. And I'm not finished trying to get us a shot at the Southwest Tag Team Titles either. I think when Tully comes back to the area that Robert and I should be the first in line for a title shot at he and David Von Erich and if I can just get the contract I know Robert will come back and team with me. Steve Stack: Well I wish you luck in getting that match and patching things up with your cousin Robert. But on to today's business, you have a match today in the Southwest TV Title tournament against a man you've had some problems with in the past, Eddy Mansfield. What are your thoughts on the tournament and your opponent today? Roy Lee Welch: This is a big match for me today, this is an opportunity for me to prove to my family that I CAN be a champion by being the first ever Southwest Television Champion. And this match right here on TV today gives me a chance to beat Eddy Mansfield in front of everybody and prove that he was wrong when he called me the weak link of our team. Steve Stack: Well it's time to get the match under way Roy, thank you for comments. Now ladies and gentleman let's get down to the ring for our main event and the last match in round one of the Southwest Television Title tournament! Steve Stack: What a disappointing way for that match to end! Ladies and gentleman we're all out of time! Join us next week when we'll see Ron Starr vs. Eddy Mansfield in the semi-finals of the Southwest TV Title tournament and make sure to be at the HemisFair Arena this Sunday night to see The Fabulous Ones take on the AWA World Tag Team Champions The Wild Bills, Jim Duggan with one arm tied behind his back against Sheik Adnan with the loser barred from Texas for one year, Mil Mascaras versus Jose Lothario, Eddie Gilbert in a rematch against Charlie Cook and lots more great action! So long everybody!
  21. Someone described Goldie Rogers to me during the draft as a "lazy Rip Rogers" which put him somewhere on my draft board but not real high. Glad to see he's being used well here though. Oh btw if you missed it I just made a topic the other day about a documentary with some footage of Montreal wrestling from the early 70s on it that might interest you. I put it on youtube if you want to check it out. It's more of a documentary on wrestling structure than Montreal wrestling itself but I thought it was quite good.
  22. It's Jacques not Jack line made me laugh. I thought that match write up for Goldie Rogers did a good job of establishing his character too. Oddly enough, the Earth & Sky idea sounds somewhat similar to a Japanese team I have coming in soon also. I might need goodhelmet to back me up on it that I'm not copying your idea haha.
  23. People who are good to me get good things in return. People who aren't do not. The people who are in my good graces know who they are and have nothing to worry about but can feel free to talk to me about it in private. Regardless of whatever else is said about it by the aggrieved parties that's the last word from me about it in this thread.
  24. For the few people I have close dealings with that want clarification on the issue please feel free to PM me. I don't regret my decision and feel completely justified in having done it. That's all I'm going to say on the matter in this thread.

There is quite a bit of Stan on tape from Portland. And some WWWF stuff also but mostly from when he was kind of a JTTS.
