    SummerSlam

I said from day one that the guy for Lesnar to "make" is Sheamus. Why they want to waste him on Cena and Triple H is beyond me. Especially when they really seem to want to push Sheamus as "the guy" on Smackdown but have given him nothing to work with. His rematch with Daniel Bryan was pretty good but I didn't think the finish made him look especially great, then the Del Rio feud has been really long and boring.
  3. Anyone here seen Rick Rude vs. Hogan from Boston Garden 1/9/88? After watching this match it's not a surprise to me that Hogan never wanted to work with Rude. Rude gives him a really nasty chairshot, hitting him with a half open wooden chair with the front part of the chair hitting Hogan right on top of the head. Really ugly looking.
  4. I remember reading somewhere that they would get paid extra, I think maybe like $100 extra. And then there was supposed to be someone backstage that would give them a real haircut to fix what Brutus did afterwards.
  5. Jerry Jarrett does seem like he should already have been in, like years ago. Sucks if he gets kept out because wrestler didn't like their payoffs. Can't really compare payouts from Memphis to another territory like Mid-South because Memphis ticket prices were always really cheap weren't they?
  6. You couldn't find a better picture of Dundee?
  7. I agree with this 100%. I could start my list with Jerry Lawler being number one but after that I don't even know who I would pick as number two.
  8. I can't even imagine ranking Christian or Matt Hardy over John Cena, and I like both those guys. Neither of them could have come close to having as good a run as the top guy as Cena did from 06 until his injury in 07. Neither of them could have had as good a match with guys like Umaga, Khali or Lashley.
  9. Never really did understand the hype for the moment, even at the time. If it'd never happened and then John Cena had done that to John Laurinaitis earlier this year people would complain about how lame WWE PG is.
  10. Why do people pay to hear their opinions on wrestling?
  11. This week's show had 4,124,000 viewers. Last week's show had 4,360,000 viewers. I wish people would post actual number of viewers instead of ratings points. First hour had 3.8 million viewers, 2nd hour was 4.25 and 3rd hour was 4.35. Take out the first hour and the rating drop is really not that big. To me, it seems more like people are just deciding not to tune in for the first hour and just stick to the long tradition of "Raw starts at 9." WWE makes this very easy for you to do because they only show a million fucking recaps during the show to make you feel like you can completely skip the first hour and not miss anything.
  12. There was a story a little while ago about how guys didn't want to wrestle Ryback because they think he's reckless. It's kind of a situation where they probably sat around thinking of how to punish him and realized they couldn't take him off TV because he was already off TV and someone said "hey let's feed him to Ryback"
  13. I thought that was actually a really neat dynamic they had going on with Luger at that time period. He and Sting are tagging together walking down the aisle and Luger is looking like a smug prick ignoring the fans and then Sting looks back at him and he starts smiling and high fiving fans. Wouldn't mind seeing something like that again.
  14. Jerry Lawler probably. All the years of being on Memphis TV (how early in the 70s was that?) and then being on Raw for almost 20 years.
  15. Haha that is the only reason I recognize the name.
  16. Sounds like Yoshi Kwan who had a short feud with Cactus Jack and I think that was about it for him in WCW.
  17. Yea this seems to have been thrown all out of whack by ohtani's jacket arguing the idea that every match trying to draw heat meant they were trying to draw more heat than the main event. But no one said that.
  18. That's simply not true. If every match was worked to garner heat then every match would feature guys trying their hardest. I've seen lazy veterans garner far more heat doing simple shit than guys on the indies busting their ass doing all kinds of high spots so I don't think this holds true.
  19. I think being the "other" Nature Boy just became part of his schtick. When he is interviewed in GWF it's not like they ignore the fact that there is another Nature Boy, it just gives Buddy something else to run his mouth about during interviews.
  20. http://www.juggalogathering.com/gotj/content/acts/act80.jpg Looking at the list of names for the Juggalo deal and I really can't tell if that picture of Chris Masters is from a video game or not.
  21. This has been my experience looking. Or sometimes he gives the numbers but then gives different numbers for the same show a few weeks later.
  22. He has a match with Gary Young on the 3rd episode of GWF that is all based around Landel working with the ref. Gary Young is pretty much the 3rd man in the match as Landel twice does a spot where he clubs the ref in the back while the ref is breaking up he and Young in the corner, each time making it look like Young's fault. As good as Buddy is at this time period, I think he really is a guy that was made for the territories. I'm not sure I see his schtick working in early 90s WCW or WWF.
  23. Didn't see anyone mention his GWF run yet, but I'm watching the beginning of the GWF and his work on the first few shows has been incredible so far. Has had the most entertaining matches and promos on every show he's been on in the first 6 shows. Looking at future cards it doesn't seem like his run there was very long which is a shame.
  24. He has been wrestling since 2004 so at 8 years that seems fair.
  25. Ok. In the Mid-Eighties Polynesian Pro Wrestling was aired on Saturday nights on the cable channel that was there to see the Stock Market Ticker and they'd put on any old thing behind that. I remember seeing Flair vs. Siva Afi in a big main event, Lawler heeling it up in a promo, and lots of Lars Anderson. It didn't last long and they re-ran a lot of shows, but I'd imagine SOMEONE taped these. I have definitely seen footage of Hawaii floating around with the stock market ticker running at the bottom.
