I think my point was more that the folks coming in from outside the company are used to being featured more, and with so many of those folks being brought in at once, you have a natural tendency to oversaturate. There are plenty of older talents there they need to figure out how to mix and match, and while it seems the majority of them understand how to give back, that’s more theory than practice, and I think giving time to guys that are past their peak isn’t as helpful as one thinks, especially when there is this obvious bounty of younger guys they can push.

@KawadaSmile The thread is open now.

I’m sorry for breaking the board. Loss, don’t kill me.

So it’s pretty obvious that with the NXT makeover, the next several weeks are going to give AEW the opportunity to basically create the roster they’ve always wanted, along with what looks to be significant talent cuts on the main roster, and maybe some folks feeling WWE isn’t what they want it to be. However, even with three hours of TV and the two Dark programs, there is this feeling of a roster crunch when it comes to showcasing talent, and one of things AEW has done well, which is bring along new talent, might not be as highlighted as much when they have to make TV time for so many folks. Is this a good thing? We just saw NXT wither away after being a hit promotion for a spell, and with the major indies basically drying up due to COVID, there’s going to be a top down push thanks to who AEW can bring in. Is this gonna be to their detriment? Or will they be able to actually make things happen with basically every non-WWE talent at their disposal?

There really isn't much that can be done for basically everyone on this show tonight, really. It really does have a Final Nitro feel to it.

Hey, a match to skip

An incredible match, WALTER going out like that is something else, but if he was going to be beat, it had to be because Ilja just wouldn't stop, and it was a the right finish for exactly that. I have no clue what happens next with either of them.

I have no idea if Vince wants anything to do with Trevor Lee, but he’s one of the few folks I could see really hitting his stride on the main roster if given a shot.

Nick Khan as Shane McMahon saying he bought NXT while Paul watches in shock

Mookie needs to crunch the numbers on how much money that promo just made the company.

Unreal. One of the most surreal moments in quite some time.

I would die laughing if this was all some Colt Cabana troll job, but yeah, he’s showing up tonight. Has to.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Minoru Suzuki just announced a ton of US dates, too, sounds like the Japanese folks who can make it over are going to take advantage. -
I’m happy with the booking, at least, as having MJF go over clean like that was better than the alternative. But it does leave Jericho without much to go on going forward. Not a bad thing.

Dante Martin vs. Lee Moriarty should rule.

It sounds like the Ibushi rematch isn’t in the cards right away, but now the build to another match with Ospreay, as he showed up as a surprise at last night’s LA show. And had a face off with TJP. This company, man.

Seems a bit strange that Andrade didn’t go over, as you’d think with AEW hitting their stride that Kenny would be focused completely on being the champ there with the Bryan/Punk Possibilities and the Page match to come. But maybe they set up a rematch down the road?

Nak’s plan was always to end up in the US so I don’t think he really gives a fuck about hitting his ceiling. KUSHIDA is a timing thing more than anything else. Guys like him were all the rage before he came in, and then it was as if once he came in they had no idea what to do with him AND they kept folks in the mix for too long.

Greatest Feud of the 90s Tournament: Second Round

Have to think there’s a schmozz to set up a blowoff for Jericho/MJF, plus Bucks/Lucha Bros, Andrade/PAC, Mox/Tanahashi, Black needs a match, etc., and if they decide to do something with Punk off the bat. You also wonder if Dunne re-signs, because if not, he can show up. I think there’s a lot they’re holding steady on because they need to make sure certain things are in place.

My decision to stop following a bunch of wrestlers on IG and getting off Twitter entirely seems to be working well.

Just a true natural for the business. Everything he did looked great, and every move in his arsenal, from a simple punch to his stuff off the top, is in the running for the best version of the move ever done. He just absolutely got pro wrestling in a way few others did, and he was someone I grew to admire even more as I got older. The health issues he had recently were sad to hear, and now that he’s gone, it’s gonna linger for me a while. A true joy to watch, as he was such a fixture in my childhood when I got into wrestling. Gonna miss him terribly.
