  1. Yeah. Violence on women (real or simulated) is one of the things that really bothers me in wrestling.
  2. Just speculating, once business exploded with Hogan I imagine the incentive to wrestle full-time became much greater.
  3. How is Mexican wrestling faring from a business standpoint?
  4. It's Rey Misterio Sr. If it were Junior it would have gotten a great deal more attention. As it is, I think they made the movie in Mexico and hoped to make money here by using the name.
  5. Here's a more favorable write-up from the BBC. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7600873.stm
  6. I might ask him about different territories/promoters, etc. As champion, Flair probably wrestled for as many companies as any wrestler in history.

    Jericho's return ...

    Perhaps Raven?
  8. Agreed with Sek. Flair already has an autobiography out. What more might a shoot interview add to that?
  9. The Chicago Cubs have done this, obviously it has done little to hurt their in-park attendance or bottom line. It seems legal, though a dishonest business practice to say the least. Unfortunately, it seems to be gaining steam as ticket sellers latch on to their own secondhand markets (i.e. Stubhub).
  10. If Tony handles road games, it might be worth trying to track him down when the Gwinnett Braves come to Scranton.
  11. And lord knows she needed to take more weight off.
  12. Should be pointed out that 123 Kid had a legit knock out finisher, where Delaney is treated as completely lacking credibility and as being capable of nothing but fluke win. He isn't booked as any more credible than Lee Scott. Failing to get over as underdog babyface when you have no hope/comeback spots isn't a surprise. Colin isn't close to the Kid. His character is almost entirely Mikey Whipwreck, circa 1994.
  13. Or like me, plan on devoting 20 minutes tomorrow to watching WarGames 2000.
  14. I actually agree. He's taken a stand against recreational drugs, cut down on the use of piledrivers, created a lighter working schedule, etc. Of course, it helps that no promoter has ever held more leverage than McMahon in this decade, but he does deserve some credit.
  15. Successful amateur wrestling career. Successful professional wrestling career, both as a heel in the '60s and face in the 70s. I don't think his announcing career alone gets him in, but the whole of his career in so many roles is enough, IMO.
  16. My cable still has it. The match has no entrances at all, and all of the Wargames matches I've seen have come sans entrances. I can't imagine what the issue is.
  17. That's an apt description actually, since I'm familiar with the layout of the Vet.
  18. A question from watching NWA on 24/7. They mention the '86 Great American Bash tour kicking off at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia on July 1. Does anyone have a card and attendance figures from that event? That seems like a laughably oversized venue to hold a wrestling show.
  19. Shit. I was mistaken then.
  20. Roadkill = Bam Neely. He's still active in ECW.
  21. To clarify, it's not that the crowd thought Hashimoto/Hase were no good. But they had no reason to feel emotional about them, and it really showed.
  22. The wrestling on that show was fantastic, the problem was that there were too many face/face matchups. The two matches with Hase/Hashimoto were dead as the two were not well-known to the U.S. audience, and were not wrestling heel.
  23. Basically the angle was Lawler wrestling Flair in the studio in an inpromptu match, with Flair fleeing from the ring. This supposedly made Lawler the champion, except Flair pointed out there was no contract. Flair would visit Memphis on tour as champion, so the promotion frequently ran angles involving wrestlers vying for the challenger's spot. The Bockwinkel/Lawler match on 24/7 is part of an angle where both men are competing for the Mid-South title, because it means a shot at Flair.
  24. A Thesz/Rocca match comes to mind. The Film Room program showed Jack Brisco vs. Johnny Valentine not too long ago.
  25. Garvin debuted in November. Terry Taylor in July. I almost forgot about Baron Von Raschke. Didn't he come in as the manager of the Powers of Pain?
