Is there any character work by her at all? The only thing to her character I have seen so far (mind you, I don't watch the weekly show, at least not in the last half year) are the contacts and the video on the screen during her entrance. I don't even know what her character is supposed to be. Vampire? Werewolf? I think she battles the dark forces of the Negaverse? I only expect this type of thing from people whose acts are so full of overdone try-hard, like Bray Wyatt. And those types usually suck anyway.

I actually came here to post that it seems like they're slowly flipping that. If one of them is going to turn babyface, it pretty much has to be Owens since Sami Zayn only went heel a few months ago and Owens is stale. Zayn seems to be getting a little more promo time and Owens seems to be eating a few more pinfalls lately. It's probably too early to say they're flipping it, but I do get that impression. If I had to guess right now, Zayn wins the briefcase this summer, if only because if they decide to give Corbin another shot, he seems more like the type they'd want to win straight up.

Even if all they want him to do is put over Almas when he's brought up, while I think they could do way more than that, that is a pretty valuable role and they'd have great matches.

With the amount of WWE women bitching. it has to be an angle. Otherwise, it's career suicide for Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, and Sasha Banks (she apparently said something on a radio show). The Bellas are immune. Makes me wonder why they or Madusa said anything, as they're not going to be around for whatever this storyline is, presumably. The women in WWE have great respect for Rousey. That's been reported forever. They understand they wouldn't have the opportunity they're getting now if she hadn't proven that women can draw. Plus, Rousey is a genuine fan.

Yeah, if Sasha has nine lives, she used about four of them in the last few minutes of that match. Pretty crazy.

Don't want to blatantly go there, but there are things Rey can do to keep himself in great shape outside of WWE that he can't do inside WWE.

No, the tanning booth incident and Rita Chatterton are two separate incidents. The Batista-Melina on-air relationship was Vince copying his relationship with the referee (Chatterton).

Also, Nia vs Alexa and Charlotte vs Asuka is the current plan.

Fucking terrible if true. I just can't see Steph and Ronda doing anything in the ring resembling good wrestling. Rock was washed up/too bloated 5 years ago. The crowd reacted big to Auska slapping Ronda's hand away, but I'd still do the Charlotte match. I actually think this is a pretty great idea, even if I don't have much interest as a fan in watching the match. It's probably the single biggest match they could possibly do at this point in time. There are ways to build the Stephanie-Ronda side of the tag that would be great.

Sounds like Rey only made a deal for one appearance and that he has a lot of commitments and is making great money. That said, that doesn't mean WWE won't offer a deal. (From WOR)

Some yes, some no. Most just in the sense of following their home team or alma mater. This sounds like I'm downplaying. I'm actually not. What I want to understand is who the "get" is with her coming in. Is it just UFC fans? Or are there other places she has a friendly audience that she can promote Wrestlemania too?

I know it's a big deal because the numbers say so, and that's great for Wrestlemania. It obviously is a big deal. But I've asked quite a few people I know who aren't wrestling fans if they know who Ronda Rousey is. The answer has been no every time. That has surprised me some. Did she crossover beyond just UFC fans, or was she just very popular in UFC?

Based on the co-champion thing, it wouldn't make sense for Owens or Zayn to break up pins since they'd be champion no matter who gets the fall. So they'll have to think outside the box a little.

If Reigns isn't winning, they might as well have Rusev eliminate him and guarantee the biggest pop of the weekend.

Thank you, dawho, for clearly articulating in just a couple of posts what I spent months trying to say about what I struggled with during this project and couldn't find the right words to express. I do agree with the general point Dylan usually makes which is that all styles are not created equal, and I think that's even more true if you're making an influence argument. But I still wanted my list to be more about finding some type of truth than just listing wrestlers I like. While I realize there is no truth, I thought in aiming for it, I'd produce the best possible list. In the end, I hated my list 30 minutes after turning it in because I realized how much was wrong with it. Go figure.

I would totally start a "Danielle Bryan!" clap-clap-clap-clap-clap chant.

Rousey-Stephanie could be great fun if they were to book Stephanie as completely helpless but as a sniveling coward. I know, I know. I just love the idea of a "weigh-in" angle where Stephanie throws powder in Ronda's eyes, spears her to the ground, and then runs to a limo waiting outside and peels out of the parking lot. They could also do some hilarious training videos with someone trying to teach her MMA.

I'm fine with average-good wrestlers with great charisma and star presence getting chances. There's nothing wrong with that.
