  1. Da Baldies are set to take on Raven and Tommy Dreamer. We get pre-taped comments from Storm and Credible before the match. Da Baldies end up in a fight with a ringside fan and the Impact Players run in to attack Raven. Dreamer gets laid out during all of the chaos too. Raven gets handcuffed to the entrance and Credible canes him. Do the Impact Players come out on top of every single segment they are involved in?
  2. Rhino is serious and intense while Corino and Victory laugh. Then we see a bloody Balls Mahoney crawl out of the locker room behind them.
  3. Nash is washing his hair and singing in the shower, oblivious that Goldberg beat up Scott Hall. Then Nash gets laid out too. Finally, Goldberg chases Bret out of the building and they switch to black and white. Everything is wrong with this, as they switch to black and white because of what's coming. Bret takes off in a limo and for real actually momentarily loses control of the car since this was on ice and almost dies. He was pretty furious and made Russo promise him he'd never book him to do anything like that again. Then Goldberg punches out a window of the limo because he was still so legit pissed at Hall for earlier and severely injures his bicep, sidelining him for the next six months. Oh, WCW. One step forward (if it was even a step forward) and about a dozen steps back.
  4. Funny that this commercial aired on Thunder.
  5. David Flair and Daffney laugh at a gas station when they encounter Crowbar, a gas station attendant, or Devon Storm as you may know him. Vampiro and The Misfits show up at the gas station and attack, but Crowbar takes them all out with his crowbar.
  6. Evan Karagias is tired of being played for a fool. He introduces Shannon Moore and Shane Helms. They aren't the Backstreet Boys or N Sync - they are THREE COUNT! Yay! Then we get the awesome Jimmy Hart video and song "Can't Get You Out Of My Heart". Soooo great. Announcers actually encourage fans to rush the ring. Schiavone gets ridiculed for calling the song catchy. Chavo interrupts all of this and clears the ring to the biggest babyface pop of the night. Yay Three Count!
  7. One of those Russo promos where the heels laugh about how much they fooled everyone. They do show clips from previous Nitros of how this all came together, but it still doesn't really add up. Scott Hall ended up getting suspended for playing to the crowd for cheers in this promo, as he did a survey which got edited out and it led to "Goldberg Sucks" chants when he came out, which pissed Goldberg off quite a bit and led to something unfortunate happening later in this show. This is just the NWO making fun of fans and going on and on about it. This will be a different NWO - no ham-and-eggers, only the elite. Jeff Jarrett said this! Goldberg finally interrupts them and says they are all going to pay. Later, Goldberg confronts Jarrett and tells him to give Bret a message.
  8. Mick Foley wants to speak to everyone in the locker room. He's not happy with the McMahon-Helmsley Era and everyone else seems to agree. He has the troops rallied up, but Stephanie walks in and sees what's going on and yells at everyone in sight. She tells everyone they are getting back to business - she is no longer listening to HHH and she is taking the reigns back.
  9. This is excellent highspot-based wrestling. It lacks the fluidity of the best KDX stuff, but the highspots themselves are more impressive. The match is on the uneven side, but the peaks are pretty great, with the CIMA-Minoru Fujita pairing standing out the most. Jody Fleisch is a really impressive high flier but not a particularly complete wrestler, at least from watching this. Curry Man gets the pinfall victory. Worth seeing because it is different from just about anything else throughout the year, but it's not a great match. The raw potential for one looks to be there when a lot of the wrestlers involve develop more.
  10. Before the match, Piper says goodbye to Sid and also gives a speech to a few guys in the locker room and warns everyone that the writers are going to ruin everyone's careers. He says they can't let the writers win. Piper is so incoherent that he's the wrong guy to be doing promos like this for what they were going for. He tells the locker room to form a union. Not much of a match before the ref bump, although it wasn't bad. Bret low blows Goldberg and puts on a figure four, and Scott Hall and Kevin Nash come out with baseball bats. They hit the ring and start attacking Goldberg. Nash then hands a bat to Bret and the three of them work over Goldberg. Piper comes in the ring to try to help. He covers Goldberg to take blows for him and the finish gets fucked up royally, as the ref counts three when Bret isn't even covering Goldberg. Then Jarrett joins them in the ring and hits Piper with the guitar. Then in the big moment, Jarrett spraypaints the letters N-W-O in silver on Goldberg's chest. Then the NWO music starts. Nash gets on the mic to say the band is back together. Watch for the key moment at the end when a fan tells Bret he sucks and Bret responds, "I don't suck. You suck. You're the one who bought a ticket to see this shit." Just read his lips, as he doesn't have a mic in his hand.
  11. Last few minutes. The Powers That Be gimmicked the ladder so that Benoit is unable to climb it. Jarrett takes the opportunity to hit Benoit with a guitar then he brings another ladder into the ring to capture the U.S. title. Tenay and Schiavone keep screaming the word "gimmicked" ...
  12. Goldberg and Bret are both watching from the back to see what Piper says. Piper admits that he sold out. He talks about how Russo isn't giving fans what they want to see, almost implying that WCW used to be real until Vince Russo showed up and now it's fake. He quits and this is the last time we'll see Piper since he's being expected to go along with all of this, but if they ever want a real fighter give him a call. He then starts rambling about Christmas being somebody's birthday, not a holiday. Goldberg confronts Piper about what he did the night before. Bret says this isn't going to be pinned on him, and he doesn't even want the belt since he didn't win it on the up and up. He says he's going to the back to give the belt back. Goldberg simply says everyone makes mistakes and he understands. Bret confronts Russo and calls him a piece of shit (not true). Russo claims this was a way of trying to make everything up to him from Montreal and ends up booking a rematch between the two for tonight, calling him a piece of garbage on his way out. This stuff is HORRIBLE.
  13. Kevin Nash comes out and takes on a serious tone. He explains that the code of conduct is that one of the boys never screws one of the boys. Ha! Nash says there are two separate entities in this business - the boys and the office. Funny that Kevin Nash of all people is the one giving this promo. Nash says the office doesn't give a shit about them, which doesn't get bleeped. He talks about how they have no benefits - no healthcare, no retirement, not even social security. He says he doesn't give a damn about Goldberg, but what happened last night was bullshit, which once again doesn't get bleeped. Nash tells Bret he broke the code the night before and calls him a piece of shit, which yet *again* doesn't get bleeped. In classic WCW fashion, the TNT censor was late for work so all the swearing made it on the air.
  14. Mick Foley seems unhappy that he has to face Santa Claus and they bring up Mick's love of Christmas that he talks about in his books. The MSP end up attacking Foley and locking him in the Boiler Room. He's laughing that he got his ass kicked by the MSP and tells Santa he has no intentions to fight him. Mick tells Santa he should win by walking out of the room first and Foley will just let him go. But a group of Santas show up and attack Foley until he fights back. Every time he turns around, there are more Santas waiting to attack him. The last two are revealed as the New Age Outlaws, who put him through a table. Foley finds a way to fight back and has singlehandedly destroyed all the Santas until yet ANOTHER one shows up and attacks him with his gift bag ... that one is revealed to be HHH. Interesting stuff I suppose.
  15. Yes! I loved Angle and his delusions. Angle starts by wishing everyone in attendance a Merry Christmas. He shares the three I's with the fans and said they should use those principles to set their New Year's resolutions.
  16. Last few minutes. This is of course the match where Goldberg concussed Bret, which sent Bret on a downward spiral that would end his career a few weeks later. This looks like at least the skeleton of a good match. Goldberg's selling is really good. This is another one I'll check out in full. Three ref bumps though when I'm not sure they needed the extra tricks. Roddy Piper comes out but doesn't appear to be in a hurry and has a glazed look on his face. Goldberg motions for Piper to hurry. Bret puts Goldberg in the sharpshooter and Piper immediately calls for the bell and takes off with the belt looking depressed. Piper hands Bret the belt at the entrance and that's the end of the show. Flat way to end what was probably a decent in-ring pay-per-view.
  17. Last few minutes. I don't really remember how Jarrett ended up subbing for Hall in the match, but it probably resulted in a better match. Benoit looks to have had some type of accident and is pretty bloody. I should watch this one in full as it has great heat. Jarrett missile dropkicks the ladder to keep Benoit from reaching the belt in an incredible spot, but this seems far more violent than most ladder matches. Benoit does a diving headbutt from the top of the ladder and then climbs to the top to take the title. Benoit is starting to get over as a top guy, or at least it seems that way, and this match looks great from just the last few minutes.
  18. These two have always matched up well, so this should be really good. Kanemura adapts really well to the American audience, and in something that can only happen in ECW, earns their respect when he responds to a hostile fan by simulating a blowjob and flipping him off. This was a PPV or TV quality match on a house show, as they went just as all out as they would if TV cameras were rolling with the table spots and big nearfalls. I thought this was excellent.
  19. Pretty great high-flying tag match. Tajiri is just awesome here with his footwork - not just in the kicks looking great, but the unexpected times and angles from which he pulls them out. Super Crazy and Super Calo had big potential as a tag team over the long haul.
  20. Raven still won't really talk to Tommy Dreamer.
  21. Last few minutes. Looks like a pretty good TV match. TPT is FIP and is busted open, so the Blonds are working the cut. Jebediah and TBT win the tag titles after Jebediah gets the hot tag, but the Blonds continue the attack after the match. After the commercial, the new champs are interviewed at the announce booth and hype Christmas Chaos where the two teams will square off again in a Trailer Park Street Fight.
  22. Before the match, Spike Dudley lays out Judge Jeff Jones. Mike Awesome does a number on Spike Dudley and Masato Tanaka comes through the crowd to brawl with him. They are pulled apart before Paul Heyman agrees to let them have a match. I thought this was fun, but matches called by the crowd ("We want tables!" followed by Awesome putting Tanaka through a table) are always a little annoying because it shows that the wrestlers aren't really controlling the fan emotions in any way. The match is a solid representation of what they do though, with the highlight of the three big table spots being Awesome's high-angle tornado DDT through the table, which doesn't give us a finish, but the roaring elbow does. Masato Tanaka wins the ECW title and Paul Heyman feigns shock at ringside. Post-match, Awesome shakes Tanaka's hand and even straps the belt on him ... before taking him down and putting him through a ringside table with an Awesome Bomb. Funny that's being presented as the one table bump that's scaring everyone when the match has been filled with them.
  23. Pretty fun house show match with Smothers doing some fun heel schtick with ringside second Tommy Rich. I didn't realize Smothers (or Rich, for that matter) had any non-FBI appearances in ECW.
  24. Raven is ready to get rid of the Impact Players once and for all. Dreamer can count on him.
  25. The Impact Players call out The Sandman. He's cleaning house until Rhino comes out and gores him.
