  2. Yeah, that's a great point. RAW should always end with a hook for Main Event, which has some type of match - preferably but not necessarily with a clean finish - that moves things forward. RAW should probably have shorter matches (even though longer matches with the right people do drive television ratings) or matches that have inconclusive finishes building to a match on Main Event that resolves something or has consequence. I think they do a decent job sometimes of hyping what's to come on Main Event, but they rarely look backwards and talk about what non-subscribers missed by not seeing it, which is another important piece.
  3. Jericho goes all out to to get the crowd to hate him, but it's like pulling teeth, as they are pretty quiet for a lot of this. He has lots of creative stuff, pretending to be KO'd outside the ring in an attempt to win by countout being my favorite example. Jericho is excellent in this match, but Juventud is sometimes great and sometimes blowing stuff. I agree that this was a very good match, although a great one seemed buried in there somewhere. It was cool to see a lot of the heavyweight tricks used in a cruiserweight match. And Juventud loses his mask for no apparent reason.
  4. Watching the crowd reaction to Booker-Martel shows that WCW fans really loved good heavyweight wrestling. Martel looked excellent and really came motivated to prove himself in this run all over again, unlike guys like Hennig, Barry Windham and to an extent Bret Hart. The first match was really fun and the crowd popped huge for the finish. I really like how the second match starts with Saturn just going for nonstop pins, but the match really fell apart for me after that since Saturn's offense didn't look very good and he's not enough of a ring general to carry a match, especially one that goes this long. Between this and the best of seven with Benoit, WCW went to great lengths to push Booker T as a serious and credible wrestler, yet they had no idea what to do with him beyond that and didn't even think about letting him sniff main events until 2000. I'm not as high on Booker T as I used to be, but I still think he had potential to be a top guy in WCW if he was pushed the right way, and he was exactly the type that should have been getting a shot on top at this point to freshen things up. All in all, this double whammy did a great job of getting Booker T over and had absolutely no follow up because WCW.
  5. Who is "he" whose opinions are being shredded?
  6. Last few minutes. You'd think people would be over table spots after a year or two of them happening on every show, but they still get a big pop. Glad we didn't include this one in full as it's once again a mess. Whoa, Van Dam does a job!
  7. Last few minutes. Tommy Dreamer wraps himself in barbed wire, which sets off a series of run-ins, including one from Rob Van Dam, who seems to get the last laugh in every single scenario. Beulah runs in and ends up taking a bump from Credible as the desperate attempt to make him a star continues. What a mess!
  8. Most of or possibly all of the ECW roster comes out to pay tribute to Louie Spicolli, who recently passed away. Droz was in ECW?
  9. Oh, Steve Blackman. That time period when the WWF tried to present him as Ken Shamrock's shoot equal was awesome. Faarooq ends up getting pinned after The Rock stops him from using the Rock portrait as a weapon. Rock is hilarious and so great already. Post-match, Faarooq gets upset and punches a hole in the Rock picture. Rock is stunned! How dare he!
