I'm bumping this because the thread tagging I've done on 1990-1994 in the Match Discussion Archive section should make a project like this much easier and more practical to see through to completion. If you want to see everything that there's a thread for in these years that happened (or aired) on February 21, today's date, here is a link, just to show you an example: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/tags/forums/February%2B21/ You should be able to do this for every day of the year in the near future, and as soon as I can get it done, this will be expanded to 1995-1997, and later pre and post 90s.

I have edited thread titles and applied searchable tags to every single thread from January 1990-January 1995 in the Match Discussion Archive section. Still need to finish '95 and do 1996 and 1997, and I'm starting to lose my will to live. It's taken me two weeks. It's exhausting. I hope the tags are used enough to justify the amount of time I'm pouring into it. I think they will be, but I really hope they are.

Lord knows jdw and I have gotten into it before, and he has annoyed or frustrated me at times. We will probably get into it again at some point too. But this response can't go anywhere good. I'm asking nicely for no more fights between the two of you. That's not just directed to you either.

Yeah, I know they were worried about Diesel getting booed in his first title defense against Bret at the Rumble, which makes me wonder a few things: (1) Were they so short-sighted in attempting to recreate Hulkamania that they couldn't have Diesel win the title in a more competitive match, and hold it off to the Rumble at that? The advantage was that more people would have seen his title win and he'd actually beat a heel that meant something. (2) If they needed heels to feed Diesel after turning and knew they were turning him as early as July (according to Nash, that's when he first learned about it), why didn't they protect Owen more in blowing off the Bret feud? If they wanted bigger heels that were a better visual match, it seems like they could have also put a different wrestler against LT at Wrestlemania and built up Bigelow as a top shelf opponent for Diesel. (3) Why even do the Bret match if that's the reaction they are worried about? A newly turned babyface who needs cred and favorable booking facing the most popular guy in the company in his first high profile title defense seems counterproductive. Diesel vs Bret might have meant more if it was held off a little longer. Hell, Diesel being champion might have meant more if it was held off a little longer. Watching Bret week-to-week in 1994, as soup23, Kevin Ridge and others have done along with myself, we all pretty much agreed that Bret's supposed signature run felt a little anti-climatic for whatever reason. So we understood going in a new direction. But the suddenness of the switch just sort of screwed with everyone, instead of maximizing the potential of Diesel's win, the turns of Shawn and Bigelow, the elder statesman role of Bret, the heel runs of Owen and Backlund, etc. WWE really needed strong heels at this time.

On the "Blogs" section of this site, it turns out that I can create a link to anything, even external sites. So I wanted to ask what wrestling websites and blogs you'd like to see listed there. Please keep in mind that I'm not referring to "reference" sites in this case, but rather websites that are updated on an ongoing basis. I'd like to ideally create a one-stop shop where you could click on the Blogs page and have access to the latest wrestling news, reviews, opinions, etc ... whether they are at PWO or not. Please help me build a comprehensive list. I don't want to just put anything and everything there, but if we can round up the good stuff, that's good.

Did a recap, yes. Haven't done them in years because they are pretty time-consuming.

I summarized them.

It also feels like the Diesel/Bigelow match that was on TV with Bigelow's turn could have been held off a little longer too. Shawn and Bigelow both turned at the same time basically, so two potential PPV opponents for Nash were off the table sooner than they needed to be.

It is odd that he hasn't had a retirement ceremony, but it is in some ways fitting that everyone else got a big sendoff and he didn't. Kawada made a career out of not really being treated equitably.

Not only that, but Sid went long in the segment and they had to go to commercial break when the turn actually happened. They tried to make up for it by airing it repeatedly on all the shows for weeks, but it did take something away from the moment. It didn't feel like there was any fan demand for Shawn to turn because it was so rushed. They could have gotten at least one more match out of Diesel vs Shawn and probably held off on the turn another few months as well.

Dusty's looking pretty healthy these days. Good for him.

He was returning. Returns always do well.

Hell in A Cell. Shawn Michaels. Anticipated title change. Shawn Michaels is a difference maker but John Cena is not? Suddenly, people care enough about a match to pay for it, despite that they haven't for the two previous PPVs? I don't buy that.

Have you looked at the 1990-1994 folders lately? Check out what I'm doing. I'm almost here.

If that's true though, why hasn't Vince simply addressed his roster to explain how this will work, considering there is so much unrest about it?
-
He's John Cena. There is always a noticeable difference between his absence and his presence. Why would a match that headlined the last two PPVs and did abysmal start suddenly drawing otherwise?
-
That tells me house shows should mean way more to the creative direction than they currently do. Seems like missed opportunity.
-
I don't always watch wrestling the same way personally, which I mentioned in my last post.
