Emma should dress more like Santino.

If they're going to screw Bryan, I hope they do it with gusto. Might as well get everything they can out of it. Four flat tires, sneak attacks before the match on his shoulder, then his pod doesn't open, only it finally does and then it takes a ridiculous amount of cheating to put him away. Go all the way! Get some heat!

He was responding to three year old posts and making sarcastic one-liners, but not really debating a point or anything. When I told him that could be perceived as trolling and asked that he not do it, he blew me off and said he didn't feel the need to explain himself, even after I asked him to do so a few times. So he's gone.

There is a difference for sure. But I'll ask you this. If there is a throughline that wouldn't be readily apparent to anyone even casually paying attention, would you say that it's not done very well if it requires too much effort from the viewer?
-
For the record, I very rarely take notes while watching something. I sort of disagree with the idea on principle. I can't remember the last time I did. Sometimes I'll go back if I can't remember something specific that I want to touch on, but I usually just watch it and pay attention, writing whatever my takeaway was after the match is done. My reason for that is because I always felt like Scott Keith, Todd Martin and other "big time" recappers would miss key things because they were looking down while typing instead of paying attention to what's on the screen. I also think it encourages a writing style that declares the trees far more important than the forest, and that's not how I see wrestling. I'm interested in details in wrestling, but only as they relate to the big picture. If they neither enhance nor detract from the big hook the match is going for, I don't usually think they warrant much comment or thought.

Most Successful Gimmick Based on an Actual Job

In a way, it's strange that Repo Man never stole the show. -
I figured out the Apple TV thing. It's exactly what sek said. It will be there, but Apple receives no commission unless you purchase the WWE app through the App Store.

He's gone now.

You can't buy apps for Apple TV though. It doesn't work that way. What's there is there. So I'm a little confused by this.

From the latest F4W: Harry has more information on the deal with Apple TV: "Just thought I should write in and let you know the deal with Apple TV. The WWE Network should be available on the Apple TV at launch. The reason that WWE is not advertising this is because Apple TV is as Dave explained last night is because of the 30% cut that Apple takes for purchases made through the App Store. The reason that is a problem on the Apple TV is because unlike any other supported device, including iPhones and iPads, is because the Apple TV doesn't have a built in web browser. The reason that this is important is because the WWE can bypass the 30% cut that Apple takes by redirecting you out of their app (which is tied to Apple's App Store) and onto their website through Safari where you can sign up to the network without Apple having any involvement in the transaction. Once you have signed up to the network through WWE.com on Safari you can then go back into the WWE App and just use your login credentials to activate the network service. However, because the Apple TV doesn't have a built in browser like other Apple devices there is no way for WWE to get around having the service activated directly through the App Store and thus forfeiting 30% of the monthly fee to Apple. This is why the WWE won't advertise the availability of the network on the Apple TV. They want for you to activate the service through your iOS device (via WWE.com on Safari) and then when you turn on your Apple TV to begin Airplaying the video you'll see the WWE App icon and realize you don't have to use Airplay as the service is already built right into the set top box. All you then need to do is launch the WWE app on the Apple TV, log in using your network credentials and you can start watching the live stream straight off the Apple TV. Amazon does the same thing for its Kindle app on iOS devices. If you want to buy a book for your Kindle app, Amazon takes you out of its Kindle app and redirects you to its book store through Safari. Once in Safari you can then purchase a book and once you have completed the purchase you need to manually go back into the Kindle app to retrieve your purchased item. This way Amazon avoids having to give Apple 30% of the purchase price of the book."

I'll still wait to see if it's on Apple TV Monday, in case this info is incorrect.

That's how I was planning to get it. That sucks. I'll probably just do it on my desktop now.

Where did you get that?

If I wanted to "troll" this board re:Lawler, there is a 1,000 page Lawler thread in the microscope section where I could have a field day. The crux of my argument wasn't even anti Lawler, it was style bias/preference and the idea that Lawler was never considered a worker on the level of the guys in the poll, particularly among Dave and his readers. It then splintered into the definition of work/workrate and how it is applied by Meltzer. I was asked to make a list, and declined, on the premise it would come off as a troll and really derail things. I just about never agree with Dylan but have a ton of respect for him and his opinions, so when pressed by him I threw one together because there is a level of trust there. If I wanted to troll I would have come in guns blazing from the jump, instead of being prodded to put up names that I am fully aware run counter to the tastes on this site. The reason I come here is because almost nobody agrees with my tastes here. I like the alternative points of view. I put a lot of thought into my posts to avoid being labeled a troll. It's not my fault if you can't handle a my takes if they run counter to what you think. That's on you, not me. It's interesting that this was taking place against the backdrop of ... that. For the record, I don't think you're a troll.
-
You don't get it and it's obvious you won't get it. Sorry, bye.
-
If you have opinions, explain where you're coming from. "Yes it is" versus "No it isn't" left at that isn't very fun to read. It's not about the length of a post. It's about posting something that adds to the conversation.
-
Well, I know you're new, but responding to posts so old just to throw out one line without any desire to go further in depth on it is going to be perceived as trolling. It would be appreciated if you'd stop.
-
If you have an argument to make, please just make it instead of just declaring your opinion and leaving it at that.

He can't pass a physical. Even having a heel run into his fist is questionable. I think we're safe there.

To that degree, yes. But I think there is a sense of entitlement at the F4W Board, for example, where many of the posters act like jackasses because they've paid and think they deserve to act like jackasses. So the end result is lots of Dave trolling instead of Dave conversation and engagement. I don't know how active Wade is on his board, but it sounds like some of the same stuff may play out there too.

I think paid message boards operate under a faulty premise, because how do you moderate or ban someone who's paying for the service? There's precedent for paid message boards sort of not living up to their potential, even when they have some of the most knowledgeable people around participating.
