LeBron is in the same "industry" as Koshchek: Sports. To be fair, when Dave said "industry" he meant "combat sports". Of course, pro wrestling is neither real combat or sports, but they've been lumped together since the dawn of time. Poor Chael Sonnen. One failed drug test and Mr Meltzer forgets you for his new heel poster child Josh Koscheck. And Bix, we all know who you would say doesn't count, because the McMahons aren't pushing him hard at the moment.

Dave on TNA's financial situation:
-
It would help if his sense of humour wasn't so weird and juvenile.
-
In the past on Wrestling Classics this was certainly true, but that isn't really the case anymore. He's certainly not 'above the fray' on the f4w board.

Several pages later Dave came back for round 2. Here's most of the back and forth action from this round: Dave: CyNick: Dave: CyNick: CyNick: CyNick: Dave: CyNick: Dave: CyNick: Dave: CyNick: Dave: CyNick: Dave:

Dave Meltzer getting into a troll battle with the Cynick on the f4wonline boards is amusing. Round 1 Cynick then Dave then Cynick then Dave.
-
Yeah, I was going to write a post poking fun at Irv making a movie deal with such a jokester until Bix told me he knew what he was doing.

The column is now free: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/17815/ Just because a match goes on second to last doesn't make it the "semi-main event". I suppose no-one paid to see the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match, given that it opened the show.

KrisZ hasn't heard of the Real In Memphis message board? For shame!

I think Keller's obviously right, though Cena's joke regarding Gabriel was subtle enough that it would fly over most young children's heads. Not that that makes it OK, but it's far from the worst example of homophobia within wrestling this year. Orlando Jordan's portrayal of a predatory bisexual freak heel was much worse in my opinion.

More from Dave about Jamie Varner disliking being hated by MMA fans: Maybe Dana needs to start handing out best post match promo bonuses then to go with the best fight bonuses he gives.

Someone had to sell for the power of Paul Bearer's urn! Punk must have picked the short straw.

I do believe I must insist on further details right here. Chapter 35 of Russo's book Rocky Mountains = Rocky Marriage? starts as follows: I wrote this at TheOtherArena not long after reading the book and it sums up my feelings on the chapter:
-
Gonzalez did chokeslam referee Bill Alphonso at WrestleMania 9.

Speaking of Nigel, will I need to chide the wrestling media on Cageside Seats again for not getting to the bottom of his mysterious absence from TV? I'm much more concerned about Wolfe, who failed a WWE physical, possibly working for TNA for ten months before doing a physical of their own and discovering the same neurological issues WWE found, than Rob Terry being booked to take one unprotected chairshot, yet this story is being slept on by the wrestling media. Not really, he's been brainwashed into believing that flat-back bumps is the right way to fall. By the way, it's no surprise that women are treated badly in a company where the lead creative force thinks that his wife should "submit to her husband's leadership".

The Gonzalez turning on Alfonzo story is odd. Maybe someone he talked to about Gonzalez had a dodgy memory about that time period.

Listening to Bryan and Dave review Cerrone vs. Varner is a blast. We start off with the fight inspiring Bryan to talk about how ridiculous it was for Hunter and Orton to start their WrestleMania main event two years ago by locking up. Later Dave added this money quote: Then Dave goes and criticises Rashad Evans for winning a points fight after doing such a great hype job for his match with Quinton Jackson. Then they talk about Varner needing to embrace his inner heel with Bryan even calling him a pussy for having his feelings hurt that the fans really hate him.
-
Yeah, it's a good move. Bryan's had some interesting ideas for cover stories the last couple of weeks, hopefully he can keep it up.
-
Usually when wrestling journalists have a weird hatred for someone, it's because one of their friendly sources is burying them something fierce. Remember Wade Keller's weird hatred of Chris Jericho years ago.

I'm not sure why we should believe anything Rock said in that interview given that Brock Lesnar was not the last person he wanted to wrestle, though to be fair it’s a good line for the MMA audience he’s trying to court for his latest film. Rock's just another insecure carny who would have rather made his millions being a real life tough guy rather than simply portraying that role in the silly world of professional wrestling, which is just a delusional dream, given that his athletic ability is really quite mediocre by UFC headliner standards.

Apparently the guy in question was Larry Sweeney. I mean entrusting your ring to Sweeney is just asking for trouble.

This is what I wrote at the time about the Richards/Sapolsky split: http://www.cagesideseats.com/2010/2/10/130...crews-over-gabe Speaking of Sapolsky, the story that his Dragon Gate USA show tonight almost had to be ran without a wrestling ring makes the company look so bush league: http://www.cagesideseats.com/2010/9/26/171...n-gate-usa-show

I think Dodd told Dave and SI different things.
