Ladd had a mini-preview. Dave also said he did all of the research, he just never put it together. When he was promising it, it really sounded like it would be one of the best WON features ever so I was really pissed off when it got bumped for MMA news of some sort.
-
If it doesn't get done within the next week or two it'll go the way of the Ernie Ladd bio, AWA history, and Umaga bio.

I bet he won't realize it's a USA show even if they plug it every segment.

Right, just that era's house show matches are film, but there's a lot more house show film than studio matches from that era because, well, you can't tape over film. -

That's how the Florida matches exist. They're 16mm film and clipping was done live. -
His specific wording was "very little of these pieces were available nationwide" so if they were all from WO.com he'd be lying. The implication was that they were from local Pittsburgh area magazines and newspapers that he's written for. Tag teams need to matter again. Wrestling needs to be more like MMA/MMA needs to be more like wrestling.

We missed this: Even when going for the burn he fails in epic fashion, since Slam! is available in stores while his book is only available on the internet. (Babinsack said in an email to me that "very little" of the columns were available freely online. I told him that if he sent a list of which ones were for print publications that I'd correct and revise the review, but he hasn't replied)
-
Also note Babinsack using the term "800 pound gorilla" to refer to UFC, which he's praising, even though he normally uses the term negatively when referring to WWE. In one promotion, the fights are real. In the other, the fights are fake.

Russo RSPW reviews?

Bischoff on Babinsack, for those who haven't seen it.

Would it if I sent it in? I kinda doubt it... I get what you're saying, but if someone's that deluded and doesn't notice a pattern that's been there for close to a decade, and has regularly included stuff like Dominic Valenti's "AAA TV reports" that were just the results in ALL CAPS, all sorts of "interview recaps" that were just ads, often for pay sites like ClubWWI, etc, plus the email from a certain promoter that especially in hindsight was clearly not supposed to be posted on the site, etc, I feel like there's not much of a difference for whatever reason. I was thinking of including something about how he's talked about only reviewing free shit to a fault ("I would have liked to read/watched and reviewed X, but wasn't sent a free copy..." type stuff), but decided against it. That said, how many people review the obscure indies he does in as high profile a fashion as he does, even with comped DVDs? He's generally pretty dim but I think he's doing a good thing as far as the indy reviews go, plus it's only costing the promotion a few dollars at most and if just one person buys the DVD based on the review, it's more than worth it to them. Especially since it seems like he always gives them good reviews.

Unsurprisingly, my review was given the title "Professional Wrestling Intellectual book anything but"

I have a lot of the Stampede TV from '84 and haven't seen either of them there in any form. -
Coliseum was a separate company. It was part of Evart Enterprises, a porn producer/distributor.

http://www.loserleavestown.net/?p=225 The foremost historian on all things Hart family and Stampede Wrestling, former program seller/TV producer/booker/wrestler/TV interviewer Ross Hart joins me for a fun look at everybody’s favorite prairie territory. We talk about his first memories of wrestling, producing the TV show, Stampede leaving the NWA, the British and Japanese wrestlers who went through Stampede, wrestling in Hungary and England, the origins of the ladder match, and much more. A really good show. -
That's the Coliseum Video version. We're talking about the WWF Home Video VHS releases.

No, thankfully.

At least in Heath McCoy's book Dan Kroffat takes credit for it and I think he said that Stu could see it would draw. I will mention the gimmick though. -

Something like that is definitely on my list. I've always wondered why Stu/Ross/whoever was the only person with power in a territory that kept up with the UK scene. -

After various delays this should be this weekend so questions plz. -
You might be right-I only rented the Coliseum video of WM3 once and probably saw my friend's PPV recording more (the latter was definitely how I first saw the show).
-
Said songs were dubbed over on the Coliseum Video releases (well, most of them; "Sirius" might've been om WM3 but I know that all of the WM1 songs were left as is) so there wouldn't have been any agreement until the boxed sets. Nowadays I figure that including the music was an oversight from a new video department staff that was unfamiliar with dubbing over commercial music. I don't think that they would've gone to all of that trouble for budget VHS releases, especially WM1 with commercial songs on it. The record companies were sticklers about home video back then, too. Not as big as they are now, but they definitely would have charged WWE more than they would have wanted to pay, especially for "Easy Lover," "Born in the USA," "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," and maybe even "Eye of the Tiger" by '98.
