I have the Babinsack book and I'm about to dive in. Wish me luck...

I'm not sure. I would think there's been worse stuff, though he's extra-special because he has such a grossly-inflated of himself. Has Dave ever publicly praised Babinsack like he has with Martin and Wahlers?

Like Mask or not, he doesn't pull that sort of stuff out of his ass. It's one thing to not report something for circumstantial reasons but retracting the truth is kinda...yeah... He should be heartless and just wreck careers then? No, he shouldn't have reported it in the first place. Also, there aren't a lot of things that he could report that would make it hard for someone to get work. It's pretty much drug problems, injuries, and general reliability issues. For the first two at least, he's enabling the the problem if he covers it up after reporting it in the first place. Also, it's hypocritical coming from the person who talked about how wrong he was to cover up Jake Roberts' suspension for failing a cocaine test in '87.

By the way, does anyone have any of the old Zach Arnold stuff about how Takayama and Suzuki were like backyarders because they wouldn't take head drops? He even called them "The Backyarders" in results when they wrestled as a team.

There's also the story in the book where he outright admits to accidentally injuring Randy Savage's foot, which I guess establishes some sort of barometer for never "seriously injuring another wrestler" or "never injuring a wrestler so badly that he couldn't work the next day." Also, in Bret's book the Bad News head shot story was with a kendo stick, for what it's worth.

You're forgetting the passage from the introduction where Bret talks about how when he was young, he referred to his father as two different people. "Dad" was the nurturing homemaker, while "Stu" was the scary abuser. He's definitely somewhat realistic about his father in that passage at least, though the one quoted above contradicts it.

I'd always heard the opposite - that he wasn't much more than a casual pot smoker like Gary Hart. Also, the tox screen done at autopsy was completely negative except for aspirin, IIRC, so he wouldn't have smoked for a few weeks at least.
