I would expect it from someone married a woman who, as a preteen, wrote in her diary that she would marry him when she was old enough.
-
OK, now you're reaching a bit. It's one thing to have no idea who Johny Damon is (although not knowing details also isn't a big deal), but not knowing Ken Jeong is not a big deal at all I'm not saying it's a big deal, just somewhat surprising for someone in his age group.
-
Don't know. Bret seemed more resentful that she wouldn't tell him the settlement amount even though it was leaked immediately, didn't give an explanation for why the accident happened ("He just fell"), and then blasted the whole family publicly even though a decent chunk of them was on her side. Her post-settlement press conference was probably what did it.

I was just looking for an excuse to post that clip.

Remember the "OMG AUSTIN MAY RETIRE AND DO A JAKE CAGE SPINOFF OF NASH BRIDGES SO HE CAN SPEND MORE TIME WITH HIS KIDS IN LIGHT OF THE DIVORCE FROM JEANNIE" rumors?

He was the first top babyface in national era WWF whose gimmick was "himself," he was the guy chosen to be the steroid-free champion, he got pushed out of the company and into Montreal, his brother was killed by WWE's negligence (though most fans don't know quite how negligent they were), his family was publicly torn apart by the fallout, his career was ended in part because nobody at WCW thought to do anything when he said he had a concussion (and somehow didn't develop an ulcer from gulping Advil the way he was), he had a stroke from hitting his head as the post concussion syndrome seemed like it was clearing, etc. He's not a hero but I can see why someone who would see a wrestler as a hero would latch on to him.
-
Also, he had no idea who Ken Jeong was. While he's not close to a big name (especially pre-Community), he's incredibly recognizable from his roles in the Apatow and related movies.

That was first, but not what I was talking about. When he talked to Martha about the settlement, he asked if her lawyers were able to do anything about the photos and footage, and she said that her lawyers told her it wasn't important enough to bring up, meaning that Bret had brought it up to her or her lawyers before.
-
I wasn't talking about the funeral discussion (where he was instructed to NOT talk about the accident). I was talking about how he tried to get Martha to have her lawyers fight for the photo/video rights.
-
I wouldn't say that. Trying to get control of his photo and video rights via the wrongful death suit was incredibly baffling and is a major mark against him in that regard, but I don't think there's any other reason to say that. Keep in mind that the vast majority of the book is written as an indication of his POV at the time from his audio journal. The Bret of 1999 was a lot more jaded than the Bret of 1997. Also, he doesn't seem to realize quite how negligent the WWF/Vince was (or chose not to write about it). I don't recall anything about the reasoing for locking carabiner rig being abandoned for the snap shackle in his book.

Wow that was bad. SMART MARKS!

That press release is pretty funny. They don't deny that it's a generic clip.

Meltzer said WWE issued a rebuttal press release claiming that they DID get a custom Obama clip via proper channels but I can't find it anywhere.

Adonis had lost a lot of weight before he died (matches from that period are available from NJPW TV) and was close to back to his old self. He was still bigger than he was in his prime but probably would've lost even more weight and gotten a good spot in the US again. That said: What was he doing working for McKigney, anyway? Did he pay better than the remaining territories? It seems weird that a big name like Adonis would end up on Bearman shows before going to Memphis, Continental, World Class, Portland, or even Calgary, which was getting decent magazine coverage at that point thanks to Owen plus had a national cable slot in Canada.

Figurative nothing, not literal nothing. Jade, who's expecting Bret's first grandchild, is the oldest of Bret's kids, so that would make 2 of the 4 kids who were adults at the time of the divorce being finalized.
-
I don't think it's that, he's been divorced from Julie for 7 1/2 years and has at least 2 adult children, plus I doubt that Cinzia got any money from him.

The Punk/New Breed/et al era of ECW was always weird because it always seemed like they forgot that they needed to switch over a veteran as player-coach after Benoit...um...happened.

The review with the comment thread got deleted. And it turned out to not really be Babinsack. I think.
-
I will try my best. Maybe it's easier to digest his tomes in print. Probably not, but maybe.
-
I'm sure they are. Also: Bryan doesn't know who Johnny Damon is. Dude...
-
Meanwhile, Babinsack thinks that a troll review was written by Dave Walsh under a pseudonym for some reason.
-
It's official: I'm getting a copy of the Babinsack book to review for Slam. Oh yes.

That's over-simplifying the issue. Misawa didn't die soley because of damage to his neck. He was internally decapitated due his his neck damage. Barely anyone survives that.

It might be too big a time waster to reply point by point to smkelly so I'll just say this: The Mark Henry who, at least in the '90s before he blew out his knee, could dunk a basketball? The guy who when in more relatively trimmed down states has had visible ab muscles showing through his singlet? The guy who's probably the strongest man who's ever lived? He's not an athlete? Really? From Sports Illustrated in '91 (at about the weight he's at now 18 years later since he's billed at about 20 lbs heavier than he was weighed then and WWE always exaggerates up): And no, it wouldn't be better if you were quoting a real life serial killer. It would be worse.
