  1. Rulon Gardner vs Alexander Karelin and the most annoying pretaped Olympic Games coverage ever
  2. The Taker-Michaels "Running Up That Hill" video on Raw tonight was possibly the best video package in WWFE history. Consider the ground that covers.
  3. Richter even used "She Bop" as entrance music for a little while. At the very least she used it for her match on the 1st SNME.
  4. Though back then, they'd start with the real name/nickname combo and segue to just the nickname. Same goes for Mr. Perfect & Texas Tornado.
  5. According to Bryan, it was Dave's call to post it, but Bryan titled the post (Bryan handles the posts if Dave wants to post something that requires anything resembling HTML coding).
  6. Speaking of really stretching it I really didn't want to invoke Hitler but he came to mind when I needed to come up with someone in real life who...ummm..."cut great heel promos." But anyway: - I'm sick of the "relate everything to wrestling" stuff and this was by far the worst of them (even worse than "King of Kong"). - It was a racially motivated fight on a bus involving a mentally ill old man that caused a verbal race war on one of the most popular sites on the internet. People need to have some perspective as to why it's not OMG WACKY, plus I bet I could find lots of mentally ill people off their meds who "cut great heel promos." "King Curtis great did promos based on his LSD-induced hallucinations and this homeless guy I see at the subway station is compelling when he rants about his hallucinations so he's a great pro wrestling promo."
  7. Did you see that History Channel documentary about Hitler? He cut a promo better than 90% of the WWE roster, and his gimmick name of "Der Fuhrer" is a big hit online. If Zane Bresloff were alive today, he'd be using him on local house shows out here. This guy was tailor made as a 1960s/1970s pro wrestling heel.
  8. I have to see both of these. I need to rip the Debbie Harry clip (where she explains that she and Chris Stein watch wrestling from Georgia and NY; Dave jokingly asks which is better and she picks Georgia because it's "funkier") but here's Prinze on Kimmel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJciDzl0_7I
  9. As far as these things go, I'm not sure if Freddie Prinze Jr. explaining the ring psychology of Japanese Andre The Giant matches to Jimmy Kimmel a few minutes ago was as cool as Debbie Harry explaining to David Letterman why Georgia Championship Wrestling was better than the WWF (while promoting Videodrome, no less!), but it was awesome.
  10. Well, not the plotlines that she's getting skewered for (making fun of the mentally disabled, necrophilia, etc).
  11. Seriously? First of all, there were several paragraphs under the cartoon. That was what we were talking about. Second, when Keith pointed out that the drug/death stuff was a lot more important than the content issues, the author called him a WWE shill.
  12. kjh & myself vs a Hartford Courant political cartoonist.
  13. HERB SMASH
  14. The Springer segment wasn't good but the only offensive/insulting part was when Lawler did his "LOL it was a loving parody" explanation at the end as if anybody hadn't figured it out.
  15. (Before this one, they'd all been boxing shows, by the way)

  17. It was ok but not close to as good as their first SD match.
  18. Undertaker had an excellent match on Smacktown with Henry in '06, too. It was pretty clear that Angle just couldn't have a good match outside of his comfort zone, which he only came close to successfully leaving against Rey Mysterio and Eddy Guerrero.
  19. The latest version of "24/7" on HBO is "Jimmie Johnson: Race to Daytona." Is it a good sign that as far as I know, a certain someone hasn't mentioned it yet?
  20. KTVT didn't even keep the aired shows, so I doubt that it exists.
  21. They were taping the KTVT show, but the match never aired.
  22. Yeah, that's just bizarre, even moreso when you factor in all of the mean-spirited Dusty fat jokes.
  23. They were losing a ton of money late in '88 and almost lost the KTVT slot because they couldn't afford it. That's why they were so willing to sell 60% to Jarrett. He cut costs the way you'd expect him to, Embry eventually caught fire, and they were able to pack the Sportatorium for the USWA vs WCCW match in Summer '89.
  24. Tamalie on why Black Bart's title reign wasn't THE death knell for WCCW:
  25. Thanks. To clarify, is this it? That's it. I haven't read it in a long time but I remember Dave Meltzer saying that it was grossly inaccurate.
