She's been sending informal columns to sites like WO and F4W for a few weeks and they're actually really good. The latest is my favorite so far, talking about how lucky she was to break in while there were still territories to learn in, flawed psychology she's seen at indy shows, and who young wrestlers should watch to learn from. http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/h...t.asp?aID=22397 The "bad years" in her "personal life" line makes me wonder if she's the Bridgitte Nielsen of wrestling: Someone who seems like an embarrassing idiot while deep into substance abuse but surprisingly intelligent when clean. This isn't the first time that she's come off well after a period of...not coming off well. After years of coming off as the definition of a bimbo on-screen and off (her "feud" with Steve Beverly being an example of off-screen issues), she came off as dignified for a period in the mid '90s with her lawsuit, the aftermath of Eddie Gilbert's death, and her AWF run as a serious interviewer. Then she went to ECW and never really looked back, giving bizarre interviews ("If anyone can get ahold of Bret Hart, tell him that I want his sperm, because I think he'd have really great sperm"), starting a softcore porn venture where she may or may not have swindled Tammy Sytch, failing to beard for RF, and passing out at indy shows, amongst other baggage. Now, after being off the radar for a while, she's coming off rational and with a better grasp of the business than most who tend to comment publicly about the inner workings and channeling her energy into abstract paintings. Here's to hoping she doesn't falter.

He could actually tell me what Lawler is doing well in the match with examples. Are you asking me to or stating it as a fact: "Yes, Bix gives examples when challenged"? If you're asking, I'd be glad to. I seriously don't get asserting that Kikuchi, a guy who idolized Dynamite Kid and used his trademark moves in addition to a variety of double team moves and early springboard moves, and I believe even added moves after his prime (did he use the Spider German Suplex before his Noah resurgence?) has a limited arsenal. That seriously sounds like trolling someone for an argument more than anything, as I'm sure Frank has seen plenty of Kikuchi. Snipping the Backlund portion of your post, you have the realize that given how mechanically, he did look awkward, and his facial expressions & body language were largely goofy looking, he is going to be off-putting to a number of people even if he did have strengths in other areas. I tend to fall in the middle of the Backlund camps: The haters are too harsh, and those who pimp him might be a little too positive given his deficiencies.

I'd start by saying that Magnum was really great at selling a beating. In the X-mas Superdome tag, he does a great job eating the throws into the cage and his body language is fantastic. In the tag w/ II vs the MX, the post-match beatdown benefits as much from Magnum & II's selling as it does from the MX & Cornette laying it into them.

http://www.wrestlezone.com/article.php?articleid=208073008 Well, this will certainly be interesting. I hope the actual suit makes it online.

Lately, what's stuck with me about Magnum TA is what Phil said while narrowing down Mid-South stuff: That idea that he needed to be protected from being exposed by only having 10 second squash matches or matches with the very best guys on the roster is really blown to hell after watching a bunch of his Mid-South work.

Your sig? That only works if you go into a whole essay like Cook did once about how Spanky's twinkieness creeps him out.

He may have been the worst offender (orgasmically yelling "YEAH, WORK IT!" while Michaels danced), but I get the impression that all of the announcers were ordered to act like they wanted to fuck Michaels during the '95-'96 babyface push. Even Vince did it and it's not like Michaels is really his type. Speaking of gay...

I take back anything positive I ever said about Jason Powell/PW.net. People online thinking that Connecticut Yankee was Rage Against The Machine got old TEN YEARS AGO.

People in the company have believed a lot of nonsensical stuff over the years. It's a delusional business. I know that, I'm just pointing out that for whatever it's worth, the rumor started internally.
-
Apparently, there is a legitimate belief within the company that the Stephanie rumor is true. The DVDVR post stemmed from this, not vice versa.

This is terrifying. Marc Mero holding a recent X-ray of his back (which needs a metal rod inserted):

Ladd vs Lothario? I'm curious where that's from. Florida? Somewhere in the old Texas circuit pre-split from the WCCW library?

Rey Mysterio loves teh fashionz. Also, remember: Warhol was a guest at The War to Settle the Score.

From Wade I guess at the Torch board:

Wade Keller didn't write this, but he did publish it.

True, but you led with this without elaboration in a largely positive 4 month old thread:

This really feels like a trolling effort in a thread full of posts explaining in detail why Yokozuna was a quality pro wrestler.

Big men or "big men" style?
-
Given that the highly anticipated and heavily researched part 2 never got published due to some MMA bullshit news, Vince's "death," and then the Benoit nightmare monopolizing the WON soon after, is the Ernie Ladd obit that DID get published now the worst/most disappointing modern era WON bio?

No, that ROH fans being extremely open is a fake talking point that isn't actually true and only exists to put over the promotion.
-
That ROH PPV review was really bizarre, it felt like he was strongly pushing an agenda of ROH fans being better than WWE fans because they're more open to new ideas, which was hilariously off-base.

Michael Cole used to write for The Simpsons? Michael Cole is Jewish?

Pillman wore the Blondes gear for almost 2 years after the split while he had zero push. When he became California Brian, he finally got new gear. The match in question was indeed part of a settlement over the When World's Collide name (as the belt spitting put a damper on their previous relationship) that also got Kevin Sullivan to return for one night, as well. Storyline-wise, 2 weeks earlier at November to Remember, Scorpio helped Simmons beat up Douglas after the Douglas-Simmons title match. Later in the show on an interview stage that didn't exist afterwards (and may not have beforehand), Douglas made a phone call to Sherri Martell, asked for help, and she got him Austin (along with promising to make her return for one night), but it was derailed by hs injury and Pillman was the surprise replacement.
