  1. If the column to the left of the $ figures = units sold then that's completely impossible if you do the math.
  2. That was awesome. Discuss.
  3. I want to believe that's what happened, as opposed to the more obvious and ugly alternative everybody thought last night. She got Eve's makeup on her gear.
  4. WoS crowds could get quite into it, they'd cheer loudly for a really good fast exchange of high spots and boo the shit out of some of the more hated heels. Watch something like Steve Veidor vs Al Hayes whear the crowd is so pissed at Hayes they're near ready to riot. That match has possibly my favorite thing from any available WOS match: - Veidor covers Hayes. - Ref starts count standing several feed away. - Hayes screams something like "SURELY YOU CAHN'T SEE MY SHOULDERS FROM THERE!" and the crowds ROARS with boos.
  5. I just skipped through that thing and wow, the part where he's clearly not selling but can barely stand after DDTing Takayama is really depressing.
  6. Not surprising, but amusing in that it shows WWE really does not case them as a threat in any way.
  7. ROH has been trying this shit for years now; why can't they ever learn to get it right? Does this happen close to as often during other GFL shows or just ROH? When I've watched the live free weekly Oklahoma Indy shows they've been perfect, and GFL has a LOT of content now.
  8. Is it possible the local fire marshall would have the legit numbers in some form?
  9. Yes.
  10. They never aired. Missy put them on her pay site at one point but WWE might have gotten them pulled. Some have shown up on Dailymotion and maybe YouTube. Try using alternate characters like $ signs for the S-es. EDIT: Here's one http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xamv1t_mi...vage_shortfilms

    Lucha history

LA Park = Original La Parka La Parka Jr. = AAA La Parka = Karis La Momia, who took the gimmick when Park jumped to Promo Azteca.
  12. In 1966, though? And enough homes were wired that it mattered?
  13. Something I've been wondering about since reading Gary Hart's book that came up in the Blanchard bio: Was the southwest really ahead of the curve on cable TV? The Texas promotional war was in late 1966. Cable TV/community antenna TV had already existed in various forms for almost 2 decades at that point, but I didn't think it was close to entrenched enough to matter until the late '70s at the earliest. Did KTVT really reach the whole southwest back then as the story is told?
  14. Yeah, that was really good stuff, especially if you're like me and can't get enough of Texas wrestling history.
  15. Maybe he had copies of some of those documents, as a sort of "portfolio" for his next employers to show his previous success. Wouldn't he appear more successful if he stuck with the 93K number? Awesome. I really wish Dave would get the idea that I am not trolling him in that thread. It's impossible to disagree with or question him on that board without him thinking that he's being trolled.
  16. Steve F. has a decent amount of Puerto Rico in his TV stuff with no matchlists section. Since there are no matchlists, though, that leads to stuff like getting a tape of AWF & WWC TV from '93 because it's from the period where Ray Gonzalez was feuding with Billy Joe Travis over the AWF Junior Heavy title and the tape having nothing good on it other than a Mountie promo from WWC TV.
  17. As Dave tells it,: - Zane called him right after the Hogan episode of E! True Hollywood Story aired, said blah blah can you believe they used the 93,000. - Dave said "That's not the real number?" - Zane said no, found the relevant documents, and faxed them over. I'm pretty sure I read the 78,000 figure in a "this week in history" blurb in the Torch before is all happened, though.
  18. Isn't CMLL completely self-sufficient based owning their main arenas? Last I heard, it's pretty much impossible for them to lose money on any of the shows they promote themselves, plus they make money on booking fees and I presume TV rights as well.
  19. Who it appears isn't interested in doing this in spite of being a huge fan to the point that he followed Puppet around at a Bloody Midgets show to learn more about the business.
  20. It doesn't. I actually think he's really good. But the "you can't wrestle" chants came from somewhere. Angle and Jericho working matches specifically to undermine him as well as the Triple H Wrestlemania feud that was built around promos where Triple H said "You aren't actually a good wrestler" and Cena agreed.
  21. I think the problem is that he doesn't pull, actually, but whatever it doesn't matter. He also takes a Rock Bottom on his ass, which physically I don't even see how that's possible but it seems like it would definitely make it hurt more. Cena is definitely not the most crisp in his execution of stuff, which is where I think the "you can't wrestle" stuff comes from. I fail to see how Cena is pulling any less than Chono. Or Erik Watts. That too.
  22. How can it look fine when he doesn't even apply a facelock? He wraps his arms around the guy's face and pulls. Boom, facelock. And no, the FU/AA isn't supposed to be a Death Valley Driver. It's a fireman's carry powerslam. The powerslam is a legitimate finisher in the US.
  23. Jesus Christ, enough about the stupid fucking STF already. It looks fine.

That makes sense, I always wondered why the 1996 Kawada vs Kobashi draw had a different logo.

    Lucha history

Wrestling on national TV being new combined with them being completely different from everyone else: Konnan was the only charismatic bodybuilder, Vampiro was the only charismatic rock star type. You can sort of get a better idea of Vamp's appeal watching the entrance from his hair match with Pirata Morgan: Plus, it's worth noting that Konnan had a habit of working much harder in terms of mechanical pro wrestling when he wasn't over yet. If you check out his run in Calgary, or his early WCW stuff, he's doing a lot more unique to the audience lucha spots. Vampiro, well, he was incredibly green and got by on charisma for years.
