The Pat O'Connor Memorial International Cup Tag Team Tournament
Bix replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
The South African team was also the only gimmicked team (Konnan isn't Mexican, but I think that can slide). -
It was kind of interesting visually but if they planned this at all they should have done more to build it up.

I don't even get this Hogan argument. He was rated higher than Jumbo in at least one of Dave's top 100 lists!

I agree that there is an issue there, but the reason that they trumpeted about it so loudly was that they both hate Dunn with a passion. You didn't hear Corny or Percy calling out their friends Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes for their racism, which is a bigger hot button issue than misogyny, and if they were put on the spot about it now, then we'd get the usual excuses and hand wringing. True, but I really do think he was making a distinction with the "how have they never been sued" part because saying stuff over the headsets had more potential for disaster. It sounded like part value judgment, part "that's so risky that it's amazing they haven't been sued."
-
Whatever Dunn said, I think the point was that he was saying it on a hot microphone that's presumably being recorded. We know that WWE has sent shows with his audio track out on unencrypted satellite feeds and they accidentally mixed him into the actual broadcast at least once ("Camera six, worst case scenario!").
-
With Dunn it allegedly goes further than that. Jim Cornette and Percy Pringle strongly implied in their ROH shoot interview that he's said things in the truck about women that could easily get the company sued.

Giant Haystacks also has a much better rep as a worker among his peers than Big Daddy.

How much is Dunn involved technically at this point? It seemed like he was just producing the announcers on that headset feed that got released.

The clipping for the Doberman Cage Match was in an old Wrestling Then & Now Annual I got years ago and the results for the card are on a few sites.
-
Stan Stasiak was on the card and Shawn Stasiak would've been almost 11 years old at the time, so I guess that it's possible he remembered it and mentioned it to someone.

There's actually not really any pressure on us to do them, they just happen to attract more readers than other stuff (sometimes dramatically more), can be fun to write, and are a good structure for certain evergreen and historical stuff. The way I see it is that as long as you don't go cheap/lazy/overboard/however you want to put it with them, there's nothing wrong with them, especially at BR where the next slide loads instantly, unlike most other sites. The lack of load time and addition of keyboard shortcuts (you can go forward/back using your keyboard's Left and right arrow keys) make a well executed BR slideshow completely painless, IMO.

I haven't usually been linking my non-newsy stuff from Bleacher Report over here but I will advise you to read 5 Things You May Not Know About Hell in a Cell Matches solely for slide #4 (3rd slide after the intro), which is an obscure piece of wrestling trivia that I wish everyone knew because it's so left field.

Kobashi was walking like late '80s Andre at points there. He wasn't quite as unhealthy looking as Dave made it sound but boy did he not look good. Muto is at the point where I figure he has to be on a potentially fascinating drug cocktail to still have the speed and explosiveness he has in some spots. Kobashi and Undertaker move slow when not hitting their "how the hell can he do that on those knees/hips" spots, while Muto is still able to look athletic.
-
I'm guessing he flew out to the place WWE chose earlier and is getting ready to be admitted now since he said "Goodbye Peeps, for many days & a few hrs" about 45 minutes ago.

Celebrity Rehab just ended its last season.

Do TMZ writers they even read the documents they post? It's pretty relevant that she gave the cops the keys to the secret stash Sentry safe but not mentioned in this new article. (Also, "Matt Hardy's Girlfriend - 'I'm No Rat!!!"' is a hilarious headline for the obvious unintentional reasons)
-
For what it's worth, I was looking at the WC thread and noticed that Yohe posted the full ballot cover letter. Not sure when he changed it (John, maybe you can go back and check?), but Dave referred to what had been called the "reporters" group of voters in the past as "writers."

TMZ posted various documents that I've summarized at Bleacher Report. The super short version is that she called 911 because he was especially strung out, he was taken to the hospital, she gave cops access to his hidden safe full of Vicodin, and they got a warrant based on that. He will be sent to jail and held on a $1 million bond if he doesn't complete the rehab program.

What prompted this...The blood test results from the DW/UIs? Also, does this mean this is all they found or that the prescription drugs they found were all in reasonable quantities?
-
He's announced that he's going for a three month stay in WWE-sponsored rehab. Good for him. He's not much of an actor so it sure seems like he's telling the truth here when he breaks down crying about how much he's fucked up.

Jimmy Lennon going in with the first class setting a precedent for ring announcers beinv eligible and Fink being the only other one who belongs?

They pulled off The Price Is Raw about as well as could be expected so I'm thinking this will go well.
-
As someone who normally hates the sledgehammer usage because it's so ridiculous, I agree that was a great spot. The camerawork and camera switching was top-notch for the whole match and really added to the presentation.

Every single person who's complaining about The Muppets hosting the Halloween Raw is a joyless sack of shit.
