  1. I give the show a thumbs in the middle/leaning up.
  2. A.J. Styles and Yujiro Takahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada and Yoshi-Hashi This was a solid tag.
  3. Shinsuke Nakamura © vs. Hirooki Goto for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship I thought this was an action packed match that told a really good story. I was shocked at the finish.
  4. 7. Kazushi Sakuraba, Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Katsuyori Shibata and Togi Makabe The Shibata/Sakuraba stuff is so superior to the rest of the pairings.
  5. 6. Amber Gallows, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Maria Kanellis, Matt Taven and Michael Bennett in a six-person tag team match This has over the top mess written all over it. Can those camera shots get any closer? Well Maria is pretty damn fast. All things considered it could have been worse, still pretty bad. I love Maria gets the fall. Post match Anderson seems to be done with Maria. A kick in the balls will do that to you.
  6. Poor Liger has to watch the time he fell to Maria's charms during the intermission.
  7. 5. Kenny Omega © vs. Alex Shelley for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Shelley seems pumped to have a showcase singles match. Some nice chain wrestling to start. Omega going after the back. A garbage can. Christ. Shelley is selling with Omega working on top. Now we get a broom. Omega is Dean Ambrose . Shelley's DDT to the floor was sick. Diving stomp to the head by Shelley. Omega gets his knees up on a dive. I've really like Shelley in this especially focusing on Omega's neck. This was good, but the gimmicks hurt it.
  8. 4. Roppongi Vice (Baretta and Rocky Romero) © vs. reDRagon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship I really like all 3 teams in this. The Romero hug spot popped me. People talk about all the cool shit these guys do. For me it's how they incorporate or how they put modern twists on tag team tropes, along their other elements. The dives were fun. That superplex to the floor on the aftermath of the dives was awesome. So many hot moves. Pretty awesome match.
  9. 3. Bad Luck Fale, Cody Hall and Tama Tonga vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima and Tomoaki Honma Can Honma carry this? I liked Tonga and Cody's misdirection spot. I liked how it set up the shine. All 6 guys brawling on the outside. Bullet Club has control when the action gets back in the ring. Cody's gordbuster with Tonga onto Tenzan was a fun spot. Hot tag to Honma. Honma ate the discuss clothesline like a beast. He took a nasty bump. Honma finishes it. Man these matches are over delivering. Another good bout.
  10. Kota Ibushi and Yohei Komatsu vs. Sho Tanaka and Tetsuya Naito The opening of this has been super fun. They built well to the Naito/Ibushi part of the match. Though it lost a little steam getting there. Komatsu and Tanaka have such great strikes. A great near submission on a Tanaka crab. Komatsu's 1/2 crab was slick and we get ourselves a good finish.
  11. 1. Captain New Japan, Kushida, Manabu Nakanishi and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Jushin Thunder Liger, Máscara Dorada, Tiger Mask and Yuji Nagata Poor guys having to bump for Nakanishi. Plus he gives Nagata a bloody lip. We get a great dive train capped off by a Nakanishi dive. A sold opener. They seemed to work around Nakanishi's shittyness.
  12. If you're up follow along. This is a weird show on paper. In the end I think it will deliver.
  13. AJ Styles vs Will Osprey 2/15/15 This is in REV Pro overseas. Styles is the big star and Osprey is the local baby face. They work a dandy of a match. Styles gives Osprey a nice shine. Style stakes over and does some nice leg work and then some great back work. Osprey gets some real nice athletic hope spots. Styles back on him. Osprey does a huge dive which hurt the match a bit because he seemed to shrug off the back work. They build to a hot finish and presto a must see match. The crowd gave it a special feel to boot. 4 1/4*
  14. Case welcome aboard. I think your MOTYC list over at voices is a cool resource.
  15. Ricochet vs Sydal 2/27/15 PWG This should be interesting. This is balls to the wall. They're incorporating Lucha spots, strong style, and some U.S psychology. Sydal tries to ground Ricochet. Ricochet hitting Sydal from all angles. We're getting a back and forth. Sydal delivers a Moonsault into a Tornado DDT. Sydal's knee strike was KO nasty. Their are so many hot moves on display here. Sydal is pretty good here being the glue. What a match. It was a high spot oriented match. That spinning tombstone at the finish was all shades of amazing. 4 1/4*
  16. Hero vs Gulak 2/27/15 PWG I don't care about Hero putting on the pounds. It's his choice. Though it feels like we have a modern day Buddy Rose in that he can still have a great match and tear it up. Some fun mat work to start. It builds to some high impact stuff. Hero delivered a low level stiff dropkick. It looks like Gulak is targeting the leg of Hero. Fuck yeah some limb work. Dragon screw in the ropes by Gulak. Hero is real good selling the leg work. Big forearm by Hero to give him some seperation. All of Hero's strikes look nasty. Moonsault into an ankle lock by Gulak which was a great moment. The finishing run is so great. Gulak using a variety of submissions to no avail. We go to strikes and Hero finishes him off with 2 pile drivers. This was a great match that told a tight story. Hero was a beast with his offense and great selling. Gulak looked great and continues his great year. 4 1/4*
  17. I'm watching the the PWG From Out of Nowhere show. Meltzer really put it over in the newsletter. Busick vs Bailey Bailey stole the Smash show I watched recently. Busick is awesome controlling him on the mat. He's really vicious here. Bailey gets a little seperation an does a highspot that was a little convuluted. He runs off some offense with some big moves. Busick cuts him off and begins to torture his back. Bailey gets a run of offense with some amazing highspots. Busick cuts him off with a nasty European forearm. Bailey does a Shooting Star Knee drop onto Busick. Bailey is kicking Busick. Another European by Busick to turn the tide. Busick nails some sick suplex variation that gets 2. Both guys run off a couple of 2. Busick finally captures him in a rear naked choke. What a great match. They went back and forth with each getting a chance to work on top. It was a nice contrast in styles. 4* Alexander vs Ciampa Alexander with a big dive early. That's a choice. I prefer to build to them. Ciampa's running knee strike is nasty. He follows up with a Cannonball senton. Ciampa is working on top right now. It looks like he's going after Alexander's neck. Knee drops to his neck. Then follows up with a camel clutch with a neck vice. They battle for control and Alexander nails him with an Exploder Suplex into the corner. Theirs been a lot of counters of counters. This seems real back and forth with not long enough control segments. Which to me hurts the drama of a match. Tons of nearfalls in this. Alexander goes over. Both guys worked really hard. 2 3/4* Beaver Boys vs Best Friends This is a match that isn't doing anything for me It was pretty much comedy mixed in with some cool moves. It felt like a Texas Tornado match. 2* ACH vs AR Fox These guys have worked each other a lot. We get some comedy early with some wrestling. Some back and forth with neither having the control for long. Busting out mirror spots. AR Fox with a Reverse Shooting Star was a Holy Shit moment. ACH does a Giant Texas Clover Leaf Swing then transitions it into a Texas Clover Leaf. That was cool. Fox has some really great high spots. He needs to learn a little about story telling though. The match seems like they booked it too long. Fox does a flip bump off the stunner was overkill. I thought ACH was too cute here for his own good. A very video game feel to it. 2 3/4* Hero vs Gulak I don't care about Hero putting on the pounds. 41/4* Ricochet vs Sydal This should be interesting. 4 1/4* Young Bucks vs Monster Mafia I thought Page's calling is tag work. This is a lot of fun. Nick doing the Eddie dance was great. This is a great opening shine. With the hot moves and the schtick. I absolutely loved Page's cut off spot. Monster Mafia does a spiked Blue Thunder Driver into a tope'. You've got to see this for yourself. This match is really doing wonders in elevating both guys in Monster Mafia. Now Alexander's and Nicks strike exchange blew the others 2 out of the water. This was a super hot match. I could have liked to see Mafia have a more significant heat segment. Some of the spots were pretty over the top. Still it was awesome. 3 3/4* Strong vs Lee Lee has this Clay Guida vibe to him. I like the mat work. They are running the ropes. Some nice Lee hope spots. Strong in control working the back. With Lee's hair it made Strong's punches look really vicious. Strong's working with a chip on his shoulder. Lee has a never die attitude. Roddy's heel work feels like a cross between Arn and Tully. Lee's vertical stomp was OMG. Lee is making a comeback. Lee with a flip dive out of nowhere. I loved Lee's arm drag as a counter to the Strong Move. The finishing run is really hot. Strong with the Strong Move to the face. 3 1/2* As a show this was awesome. Nothing was bad. The matches had a good variety to them. We had mat wrestling,Flying, comedy, a guantlet of matches. As a show this should get some consideration as a show of the year contender. With the ROH Atlanta show, NJ Wrestle Kingdom, and Wrestlemania as a show this year. Right now it's my show of the year.
  18. Now these are just matches that I've seen. Thatcher vs Strong 4* Evolve 37 Strong vs Busick 3 1/2* Evolve 42 Strong vs Daniels 3 1/2* ROH SCOH 3/27/15 Strong vs Fish 3 1/4* ROH TV 3/23/15 Strong vs Young vs Taven vs M Briscoe 3 3/4* ROH Chicago 3/14/15 Strong vs El Patron 4* ROH Dayton 1/31/15 Strong vs O'Reilly 4* ROH Atl 2/21/15 Strong vs Lethal 3 1/2* ROH TV 2/21/15 Strong vs M Briscoe 3 1/2* ROH TV 1/10/15 Strong vs Thatcher 4* Evolve 41 Again this is just the Strong I've seen this year. Their are more pimped stuff out there.

    NJPW 4/30/15

Alex Shelley, Captain New Japan & Tetsuya Naito vs. Kenny Omega, Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson They're playing up Maria into some fun comedy early on. Omega's mocking of Shelley is pretty bad. The crowd is going Marie, and Anderson is going Marco. Fuck that's funny. I enjoyed the match early. Naito plays FIP and he's okay. He gets the hot tag to Shelley. Shelley is on fire and gets cut off. I like how Shelley and Naito try not to tag in Captain NJ knowing he's a recipe for disaster. Overall this was fine. 2 1/2* Tiger Mask, Jushin Thunder Liger and & Togi Makabe vs. Baretta, Rocky Romero & Tomohiro Ishii Makabe and Ishii do their normal stuff to start. Romero and TM pair off and are doing some rope running spots that TM gains the advantage. TM catches Romero with a dive. Liger and Romero have a fun sequence. All 6 are brawling on the floor. Liger's tease of the countout was so well done. I will say that Liger's and Ropongii Vice are really showcasing their charisma. Liger FIP was really entertaining. Hot tag to Makabe. He beats up Romero and Baretta. Ishii in to turn the tide. They both beat on each other. They seem to work better as tag opponents for each other. TM and Baretta are in and it seems we're building to a pretty fun finish. Great nearfall on a counter to Ropongii Vices finish. They fuck with TM mask at the finish for the win. This was really good stuff. By far the best TM has looked since I've gotten NJPW World 3 1/2* Gedo & Kazuchika Okada vs. Tama Tonga & Bad Luck Fale We start the match and pretty much Gedo is FIP. He's really good at it. He's clearly watched his Southern wrestling. Okada with a hot tag and is cleaning house. Fale cuts him off and Tonga is in there. We get our 2nd FIP section. They use high impact stuff on him. Gedo tries to help to no avail. Okada makes his own comeback. 1 3/4* Tomoaki Honma, Katsuyori Shibata, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Hirooki Goto vs. YOSHI-HASHI, Kazushi Sakuraba, Toru Yano & Shinsuke Nakamura I need a Sakuraba/Shibata singles match ASAP. We get different pairings. Eventually Tanahashi is FIP. We get a couple of teases of hot tags, but he would always get cut off until he tagged Shibata. Shibata is a great hot tag.Nak and Goto go at it. Everyone is fighting outside leaving Nak and Goto in the ring. Now it's Honma and Nak in the ring that turns into a wild sequence involving eveyone. It comes backs down to Nak and Homna. Nak gives Honma some great nearfalls. More great close calls till Nakamura pits Honma away. Man that was a tremendous finishing stretch on an other wise mediocre match. 2 3/4* Another solid NJPW houseshow. They give me enough action to keep me coming back. Come WO year end ballots it makes me wonder if the NJPW hardcores will put any stock into these shows for their wrestler of the year discussion. To me you have to. The coolest thing about these shows is their seems to be a different best performer on each one. Looking forward to the 5/3 show. We'll get a lot of strong matches mixed in with a mixed bag of stuff. Will last months Kenny Omega show up. Will Nakamura keep his rep as the best big show performer around. Check it out and see for yourself. We'll probably have a Reaction Show for you.
  20. Sho Tanaka vs. Jay White These guys work real hard in the time they are givenThis is a real meat and potatoes match. All of their variety of strikes look good and hurty .Both guys do a great job of selling. . The 1st 1/2 crab Tanaka goes for is as smooth as silk in how he transitions into it. He goes back to it later in the match for the win. Good stuff from these guys. 2 3/4* KUSHIDA, Ryusuke Taguchi & Yuji Nagata vs. Yohei Komatsu, Mascara Dorada & Manabu Nakanishi Seeing Nak go to the mat made me smile. Dorada of course gets over with his flying. Kushida is good in this. Taguchi as FIP was good. I also like his taunting of Nak. The targeting of Taguchi's butt and selling was humorous in a way. Komatsu has a lot of upside. 2 1/2* Cody Hall & Yujiro Takahashi vs. Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan This was ok. I thought Hall's spinning clothesline looked really great here. I loved the reversal of the double Irish whip early that lead to a Takahashi bump off of a Hall shoulder block. It seemed the finish was done pretty quick and not really built to well. 1 3/4* More later on
  21. Are the indies beginning to get behind the more mat based grapplers? It seems with people like Thatcher, Gulak, Busick , and Perkins over at Evolve. Fred Yehi vs Slim J best of 5 in Anarchy showcased matches with a lot of good mat work. Is this a trend that could be the norm on the Indies?

Tama Tonga & Bad Luck Fale) vs. Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASH Everyone should know how this will end. and it's a good thing. This was a basic tag. I also liked Tama's energy here. Katsuyori Shibata & Hiroshi Tanahashi & Hirooki Goto vs. Kazushi Sakuraba & Toru Yano & Shinsuke Nakamura I enjoyed this. The pairings made sense and built to the future. Coming out of this I want Shibata vs Sakuraba, Goto/Nak. I totally dug Tanahashi and Yano playing off their past matches at the finish. Tanahashi needs to get his win and move on. 3 1/2* Tomohiro Ishii © vs Togi Makabe They start by marking their territory. Both trying to establish themselves as the big dog. Makabe as a guy who builds his matches around strikes he's not even in the top 10 in the promotion at it. The match is pretty repetitive. It does have drama. The crowd is totally into it. The finish run was done well . Overall a good match. Overall a good show. My favorite match was the opener. It wasn't the best match, but most fun. If they got more time their is no doubt in my mind it would have been the best match on the show. Just another 5 minutes. I found it funny that some NJPW fans said the 1st match had stalling. Guys it's called schtick and it's an aspect of working a match. I liked the set up of the arena. It had a Worldwide 85 feel to it. Gedo & Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Beretta) vs. Jay White & Yohei Komatsu & Sho Tanaka 3* Bullet Club (Yujiro Takahashi & Cody Hall) vs. Satoshi Kojima & Captain New Japan 1 1/2* KUSHIDA & Manabu Nakanishi & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Mascara Dorada & Tiger Mask & Yuji Nagata 2 1/2* NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship – Steve Anthony © vs Jushin Thunder Liger 2* Hiroyoshi Tenzan © vs Big Daddy Yum 1 1/4* Tetsuya Naito & Tomoaki Honma & Alex Shelley vs. Bullet Club (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows & Kenny Omega 3 1/4* Bullet Club (Tama Tonga & Bad Luck Fale) vs. Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI 2 * Katsuyori Shibata & Hiroshi Tanahashi & Hirooki Goto vs. Kazushi Sakuraba & Toru Yano & Shinsuke Nakamura 3 1/2* NEVER Openweight Championship – Tomohiro Ishii © vs Togi Makabe 3 1/2*
  23. I also like Parv's tell when he is going to disagree with you. I wish we could play poker together. His tell is his weird sounding mmmmmmm.
  24. I have it at ****. Going that high seems insane with that finish making your babyface look stupid.
  25. I really do like how ROH has really turned into a tag team territory. It helps seperate them from the rest of the promotions out there.
