I remember things a bit different. I remember you getting owned on that podcast, and it would have been worse but Charles didn't feel the need to kick a corpse. I still laugh at your talking point of Bret being the 1st work rate IC champ. Secondly , Bockwinkle and Rose were Curt's best foes . The Hart Foundation is remembered fondly by a push. Not actual in ring memories. Such a play it by the numbers team .

It seemed the NJPW/ROH tour produced good matches. I wish we would have had ACH or Sydal vs Kushida or Liger in singles matches. Hopefully next year.

I thought this was a fun show. I liked the 10 man the most, followed by Dorada/Kushida. O'Reilly/Barretta was really good too, but was hurt a lot in my eyes by O'Reilly's goofy selling, and that convoluted sell job with the chair to set up a spot. Liger/Komatsu was real good too. Those were the stand out matches. The drawback to the show was it felt rushed.

I voted Bret, but think Curt was great in Portland. Bret to me is overrated, but he has too many highs. Both guys had their fair share of off days.

Did the Stampede crew really raise the workrate in the WWF like Bret claims?

Keep the Flair talk in the Flair on offense talk since it has nothing to do with this topic. I split that into a thread. -

I've watched a lot of WWF houseshows and it seemed the Carolina boys were the ones having the best matches. -

I don't think it matters that Jones and Rocco influenced the Stampede style for this topic. All that means is that they indirectly raised the work in the WWF. -
Nakamura/Yoshi-Hashi/Yano/Ishii/Sakuraba vs Goto/Shibata/Tanahashi/Honma/Makabe We get the Lucha pairings to start, Honma gets worked over on the floor. We get a Honma FIP sequence, then the lucha pairings continued. Overall this was pretty fun and built to Dominion.

Owens vs Cavernario Barbario So excited for Cavernario. This was fun. Owens fore arm was nasty.
-
Alex Shelley vs Finlay I've never seen Young Dave so I'm curious. Another pretty basic match.
-
Nick Jackson vs Tiger Mask The big spot was Jackson missing a superkick into the ring post. Tiger Mask went after the leg for a bit of the match. Pretty average.
-
We open with Liger vs Komatsu I miss a lot of this but the crowd is super hot. I'll watch it later.

Bret's term. -
I liked the Philly show . I'm almost through the San Antonio one.

Now personally I thought the Carolina crew brought a higher workrate to the WWE with the likes of Steamboat, Valentine, Orton, and others.

Sting/Rotundo from 89 is a favorite of mine. Steamboat/Flair from 94. Rock N Roll Express vs Ragin and Ravishing.

The backstory is Will has been needling me about being a high spot /Young Bucks fan boy in the last month or so in almost every time we disagree on a match. So that was the final straw and Will's getting my vote for Best heel in the year end Observer poll .- 22 replies

Conrad and Flair make a good team. Conrad asks the fans questions we want asked. He can also deflect some of the heat off of Flair . I met Flair at a signing a few months back and talked to him for about 5 minutes and he was just like he is on the podcast.

This was great tv with both matches delivering in spades. ACH and Page had a really strong match that told a good story. This match really elevated Page. War Machine and The Briscoes was such a great example of smash mouth wrestling. War Machine really is a totally different team than what they have on the roster present. ROH is really on fire and if you're not watching you're missing out.

That's where I'm at . They're more interested on the entertainment side of things.
