Lashley with the double chop to the throat in a shout to his brother Hogan!!!
-
Drew def more over than Lashley here are they laying in fake noise behind the actual crowd? I think I noticed it a couple times already
-
I ran out to get beer, and when I got back I turned it on to the F'n rain delay. that was awesome Please go away Hulkster Worried about the safety of Drew and Lashley opening up here....hopefully they dried everything off as best they could

So.....yesterday I signed up for the $9.99 for 4 months of premium deal...... My biggest concern was immediately realized. I loaded up WCW BattleBowl 93 randomly and it was practically unwatchable with the pausing and buffering. I figured on that, because that's the way it was with old Network content for me most of the time and one of the biggest reasons I was a sporadic subscriber Then I load up night 1 of NXT Takeover figuring if anything will play smooth it's that, right? NOPE. Couldn't get thru Kushida and Dunne..... I don't have the fastest internet, but it's definitely not the slowest either. I have zero issues with Prime or Netflix and I'm able to download large files relatively quickly. I've always had issues with WWE's "on demand" (HA) offerings... They don't seem to have any options for video quality, or any auto adjust to your internet speed like other services.....meh. Is this going to be a constant fucking issue like it was with the Network? I haven't tested any non-WWE content yet, and I haven't read the last few pages of this thread.....but I have a feeling a random Office ep won't pause and buffer like that

This is how out of touch I am. I know Paz from APC but had no idea she played with the Pixies. In fact, I had no idea the Pixies existed as a band still. I think I might be a purist who says it can't be them without Kim, but then again I accepted GnR without Slash.......

Just watched the show and the main event put a huge smile on my face. Jim Cornette and people like him can eat a fat dick, I love post-modern wrestling when it's done well. I marked out huge for the Legos and Tony putting over how painful they are if you step on them, "reminds me of the 90's, bunch of rugrats running around" lmao. They did fail on commentary to point out that Kip at one point had several Legos stuck into his flesh ala thumbtacks......that was surprising that between the 3 of them nobody realized they should put that over them using the Pixies is so weird. I'm a huge Pixies fan but I feel like a song that well established, that's already associated with the end of Fight Club by so many people, maybe shouldn't be used as rasslin theme music. time will tell. It'll definitely be a sing along crowd pleaser when live crowds are back, and maybe it'll get Kim Deal on tv in 2021 Christian-Kaz was good. Christian looked a little rusty on a few spots, but I enjoyed the match. Really strong show beginning to end. Loved the trios match, I think Kenny's selling of the Michinoku driver might have been my second favorite thing on the show. It fired him up and pissed him off which led to the finish and he continued to sell it after the match and talk shit to Laredo Kid. I hope Laredo Kid becomes a regular, he's looked great in these matches What's up with Pac? I heard he's injured but are they still going to do him and Fenix vs. the Bucks? Fenix mentioned Death Triangle in their promo but there wasn't any mention of Pac that I noticed

I'm an Omega fan but I have such a bad TNA taste in my mouth still that I just can't really get into that aspect of things too much. Like, I haven't watched a single episode of Impact because of it, and I don't watch AEW every week either I like the belt collector aspect, but it feels like they haven't really played that up as much as they should be. I don't watch BTE, Dark or Elevation on a regular basis either, but I know Omega rarely comes out with the AAA Mega belt and they don't seem to hype up him going for the Impact title much on Dynamite, which is the one part of the cross promotion stuff I actually care about, capturing f'n belts!!! I do think they probably should have changed plans and kept the belt on Mox until fans were back. I'm sure they had years of booking for the world title planned already, but they could have adjusted. Omega as champ seems like it would have worked better with crowds of diehards and on the timeline they were on pre-pandemic. As a TV product it feels like they should have gone with the "if it ain't broke...." principal. I seem to recall Khan talking in interviews about how they have years of macro booking already mapped out and have had to pick and choose when to change things I also think the explosion dud def hurt them, but they just need to soldier on. What's done is done, it hurt them short-term, if they put on a good product it won't matter long-term

Austin Aries: The Adventures of an Arrogant Asshole
cm funk replied to KawadaSmile's topic in Pro Wrestling
So many dumb people in wrestling these days I didn't know where he was going, (neither did Bryan) but that cracked me up too... I don't personally even know anyone who's gotten covid, much less died of it. I know dozens of people who've been vaccinated at this point, including relatives and family friends ranging from 70's-90's, and they're all fine The funny thing is, if you're an observer and follower of conspiracy theories and culture like I am, and have an interest in it in a macro sense, everyone who's been in it for a long time thinks people like Aries and Q people are fucking idiots. There's actual like an internal generational war between old head conspiracy theorists and the one's who seemingly just came around in the last 5 years and can't separate the wheat from the chaff.......but that's getting way off topic -
Taya Valkyrie sounds like a badass female warrior name. Franky Monet sounds like a bad jiggy rap name from the 90's And as El-P pointed out, she's already spent years establishing that name. I get giving virtual nobodies a makeover, not someone who already has cache amongst fans

The promo to set up the match last week teased the history between the two. Most of TNA is a blur to me....was there ever an on-screen relationship between Christian and Kazarian or were they just there at the same time? I for one am looking forward to this match. Christian is a great TV wrestler and I'm sure he can still go. Kaz is really good, one of Jericho's best AEW matches was against him on Dynamite, I'm sure this will be a banger. I also like that they're having Christian work his way up the ranks by getting wins on TV before going after Omega. Big Show and Sting honestly do nothing for me and I'd prefer they weren't there as on-screen talent, but in terms of merch, video game and getting international TV guys like that are important. I'm sure Sting helped open a lot of doors for TNA back in the day. Big Show on Talk is Jericho flat out said he thinks he'll help AEW get TV in India. From that perspective it makes a ton of sense, I just don't like the TNA/WWE-lite vibe it gives off. Christian on the other hand I think was a great pickup for on-screen and talent development reasons, and it doesn't matter that he doesn't necessarily move the needle. He does have a lot of fans, myself included, and I'm looking forward to seeing him in fresh matches with new talent. I think we get a run similar to his WWECW run where he's consistently having good-great matches on TV and helping guys improve in the process.

No shit! I did a double take. I'm sure she wanted to look her best for this, but she was on WWF TV 25 years ago and looks like she's barely aged
-
Seriously. Based on online reaction it was one of the few over acts in the company. Sticking Corbin with Lashley and MVP to make them less cool and get them booed is f'n hilarious

WWE TV 03/15 - 03/21 Bayern Munchen to repeat as UCL champions
cm funk replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Remember when they did the "NXT invasion" and Keith Lee was super over on main roster shows? And when the crowd (remember those?) popped huge for him and Lesnar in the Rumble? Neither does WWE. -
I hadn't thought of it until now but can you imagine how much better RAW would have been if it was Andrade w/ Angel and Vega in the Miz w/ Morrison spot? I'll never understand how WWE manages to drop the ball on Every. Single. Latino. Even Dominic now. Andrade was so can't miss. Relatively young, looks good, big enough to be a convincing heavyweight, speaks English, great wrestler....seemingly everything they want. It can't be as simple as "Heyman pushed him so now Vince hates him" can it? I know the same thing happened to Black, but they kept pushing Street Prophets and Shayna is in a top spot. But knowing WWE it's either that or they're punishing him because he's with Ashley. Maybe because they think he's beneath her, WWE royalty? Maybe because he's Mexican? WWE is that petty and racist so who the fuck knows at this point why they do anything So do they ice him or push him?

There's also still some MMA fans who think winning by submission is lame, so I guess that logic existing with rasslin fans isn't crazy Lashley's other big moves are the jackhammer and spear, so...... I have minimal interest in Mania right now. Haven't been watching any WWE, didn't even bother with the Rumble. I'll probably sign up for peacock (they're offering an intro 4 months of the + tier for 9.99 total right now, seems worth it even if I barely use it) because I'm curious about the crowd mainly. Nothing aside from the aesthetics of the show really gets me interested, and I can't think of any match or program over the next month that would get me there. It's hard to get me to care about people I really like at this point. As the card looks now I'd say Sasha and Bianca is the only thing I feel like going out of my way to see. Asuka and Charlotte should be great but I feel like I've seen it a hundred times already

I hope the HOF worthy signing is SABU!!!!!
-
Yup. And if you look back at the Attitude Era shows when they were at the peak that was generally the formula they used with Vince & Austin The big problem is it's rare they have something people actually want to see. Let's say Lashley as champ for the next month is a smashing ratings success, and by whatever metrics it looks like more than just people tuning in for the WM build as usual. Would they actually run with him past WM? I doubt it. Practically every time something gets over that they didn't plan on, or more than they planned on, they don't change course. They planned on Lashley getting over, he's one of the few successes of the pandemic era. But I don't think they planned on him being more over than Drew, and to my eyes that happened a long time ago around the half dozenth Orton match

Cody Rhodes was on WFAN (NY sports talk radio) with Evan Roberts and Craig Carton yesterday to promote the Shaq match https://www.radio.com/wfan/podcasts/carton-and-roberts-207/cody-rhodes-358230154 I haven't listened yet. Roberts is an actual wrestling fan who follows the modern product so it might be decent

Last year it was taken way more seriously than usual because the game happened shortly after Kobe Bryant died and it became a tribute, as well as a rule change to make the 4th quarter more competitive. Generally it's for shits and giggles, and there's a lot of players and fans who think it's stupid to even play it this year. It's usually a 4 day event that takes over the city it's in.

If it wasn't for AEW I never would have discovered Maki Itoh

Lance Storm brought up something interesting on the most recent F4D He said that a lot of the guys and gals these days get free ready made meals and things of that nature from various local joints and healthy mail order meal plan deals where talent will endorse them on twitter or whatever and they'll get free food sent to them for the plugs. He said a ton of the talent does it these days, and given most of them are on downsides and aren't working house shows this is a big deal to them It's insane that they're screwing their "independent contractors" like this at all, let alone in a pandemic when they can't even work to maximize their earnings

WWE TV 02/08 - 02/14 Tom Brady burrying the new talent smh

I like that a lot better than her recent look tbh. But her best look was the one she got over with before they massively dropped the ball -

Apparently she was set to have a spin-off show before she started getting crazy about anti-mask stuff and STOP THE STEAL in the fall. This was the last straw. What an idiot. -
