Or maybe it's pronounced like Rowe and they'll be having flashbacks to Erick Rowan and War Machine

I know how to pronounce Roux (I think) They're gonna be calling her Ru-Ru and having flashbacks to Rusev and Summer Rae

97 was great. As a Flair and Horsemen (especially Benoit at the time, sigh) mark it elicited genuine anger from 15-16 yr old me. It worked to make the "cool heel" nWo loathsome and I couldn't wait to see the comeback.... They didn't follow it up for shit, but I still remember where I was and how I felt watching it, and that's something you can't say for a lot of modern wrestling
-
Yeah, all you have to do is listen to the lyrics. I find it hilarious that WWE used it, but not surprising. Bob Dylan just sold his catalogue, maybe they should have used Masters of War I don't have much interest in NXT atm and don't plan on watching this show. As for the NXT War Games matches I remember really liking the triple threat between Undisputed Era, Sanity and Strong/AOP. IIRC that was the first one and I liked having 3 three man teams as a modern twist. I remember Ciampa coming back at the last one and doing a stupid move off the top of the cage. Honestly other than that first one they blend together for me

Match was good not great, but after listening to Omega on Observer Radio a couple weeks ago I have to give them a pass for working outdoors in December. Jacksonville is North Florida near the coast and it gets cold at night. It's hard to have a good, long match in those conditions, and I think it's a problem for them going forward over the next several months. Everything has to hurt more, plus you don't have the crowd to heat you up. Dalys Place is great but they should probably go indoors soon if they can. I also think they maybe should have started the show with that match, because the crowd would have been a lot hotter. That's been another problem with AEW and the situation they are in, the smaller crowd runs out of energy no matter how good the show is. That said, the story was great....from the storytelling of the match with the spots etc. to the story that led to the finish. From the spot where Mox brought in the chairs to the finish it was really good. I thought the set up with Kenny thrown into the heater came off really well, and he looked to have a legit fucked up eye after the match, so that was interesting. When they have a grizzled vet like me wondering how much of this was actually planned and what was improvised they've done a hell of a job. Not sure how you fake an eye injury on the fly like that. I'll wait and see what they do here with Kenny and Impact, but it has me intrigued. My first thought is he reunites with Anderson and Gallows, which is really interesting on many levels. I haven't watched Impact in forever, but all the buzz around their product has been positive in recent years. I hope it's less "OMG KENNY'S A TURNCOAT"/IMPACT INVASION and more Kenny like "fuck it, I'm the man, I'm the WORLD CHAMPION, I can go anywhere I damn well please". I'm always a fan of inter-promotional stuff and it's something I miss from the olden days As for Sting....it was a cool moment for old WCW fans like me....but to what end? I love Sting but by the end I was just thinking, "what are we doing here?" It made me feel like I was watching TNA, and that's before they did the actual angle with Impact!!! I feel like they've walked a fine line with being like and reminding people of WCW fairly well so far, but this might be a bridge too far. What does Sting bring to the table in 2020? Is he going to wrestle? I feel like there is possibly some mileage with him as a character, but I think they've got their work cut out for them to make this legitimately good and interesting and not the kind of stuff that made TNA so interminably bad.

I didn't watch the Corbin-Mysterio family stuff but I've heard Alvarez rant about it multiple times now Here's my excuse for it: Corbin has been the most annoying dick heel on WWE tv for years. He's constantly brown-nosing and kissing up to people in power, always cheating and cheap shotting and conniving and getting other people to do his dirty work for him. As a character he has zero redeemable characteristics. Fuck him.

The same thing happened with "Superstars" on WGN America years ago. They had top names on for a month or so and it quickly became a throwaway show. The B shows have always been better for under the radar good TV matches because they're taped, less pressure, the guys get more time etc. Velocity back in like 02-06 or so was must watch for me. When I saw that match on Main Event I had the same thought, "woah, that should be way bigger than a throwaway on this show" but that's current WWE for you. Looking at the recent lineups for that show you see a lot of Ricochet, Ali, Carillo, Andrade and guys like that. The good workers they don't do jack shit with or have given up on for no good reason other than maybe Heyman wanted to push them?
-
I feel the same way. He was the perfect heel for that era of ROH. He could hang well enough with the more modern workrate guys but worked at more of the territory heel style pace. That alone made him a heel to the ROH fans. I thought he was a really good young cocky prick in the Prince Nana/Embassy days, a guy it was fun to love to hate.
-
God, I really hope that losing half of his arm wasn't needle related...
-
Just read that and came to here to post it! holy shit indeed I know Rave wasn't the most popular amongst the IWC back in the day, not enough "workrate" for the tastes of the day, a lot of "why are they pushing him and not so and so" but I always enjoyed him quite a bit as a heel in ROH

Oh god, Cornette and Last were playing some of those on the last Drive Thru and I was literally crying with laughter. I couldn't believe how stupid it was that he did this shit Then Alvarez bought one for Granny!

Survivor Series 2020 Drew McIntyre is just the #2, biatch
cm funk replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Yeah, I haven't watched anything Taker related since the Last Ride match. That was a great send off to the character, I'm done with it. Come to think of it I didn't watch any of the Saudi abortions either, not even to see how bad they were. Sucks that they dropped the ball with AJ after Mania, and released Gallows/Anderson. Thanks a lot Paul Heyman :) Sucks that they couldn't leave well enough alone with Taker either. I'm never gonna watch that segment but a past his prime Taker, way past his prime Vince, a bunch of old guys and a hologram main eventing a show is the perfect way to sum up modern WWE. Who watches this shit? I can't even be bothered with McIntyre and Reigns because everything in the company has the stench of death. It's sad to watch -
Honestly, I don't have time for this bullshit, but I tend to take Dave's side on most things these days. I don't agree with him 100% at all, it's hilarious hearing him and Bryan go back and forth on stuff lately because some of Dave's takes are just way off and Bryan is "flabbergasted" But I listen to Corny too....and I'm sorry, the man is bitter and angry about a lot of shit and it clouds his vision As for Lasto, I'm a fan of his podcasts, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find him a bit two faced at times. He's a jerk, but so what, I like jerks. I still don't know exactly what happened with him and Bix, but I'm guessing Lasto was the jerk in that situation. I feel like in real life I'd get along with all of these people because we share common interests, none of them are dumbasses, but internet beef brings out the worst in people

wow, my post putting over Pac seems really out of place in the midst of this whatever bullshit.. oooopps
-
Watching this weeks show I'm reminded how much I missed Pac, and how crazy that it's been years since his WWE heel turn and run as cruiserweight champ where the bastard character first took form. It's crazy how little he's actually wrestled in the last 5 or so years, but when he's around he's one of my favorites. Kind of reminds me of Kid Kash back in the mid 00's when he was killing it but when he was in WWE you had to watch Velocity or whatever to see it.....when Pac was out of WWE he went a long time without wrestling (due to their bullshit) then it was UK and Dragon Gate....then he's in AEW as a top guy and the fucking pandemic hits. He was rusty against Blade....but I can't wait to see him back in the mix now
-
I haven't watched NXT from yesterday yet, but hearing the results and what they did it feels very much like this is being booked similar to Mikey Whipwreck, Sandman and Austin in 95 ECW. I fully expect Ruff to retain in the 3 way dance. That makes Gargano Austin tho

WWE TV 11/09 - 11/15 Luis Arce is Bolivia's president-elected!
cm funk replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Man, remember how over Black was when they first called him up? Him and Ricochet tagging together looked on the verge of being breakout stars. And look where they are just a few years later. It's really amazing how they manage to continually fuck up sure things. With Black's look and in-ring style he should have been massive with kids, teens and adults and would have been selling tons of merch. They killed his aura dead and I think him and Ricochet both need to go elsewhere to get back their mojo -

Legit shocked at the Vega news. She was great. Great look, beautiful, good talker, athletic....only thing she lacks is size but who cares. Her, Andrade and Garza had main event act potential IMO and they were totally wasted after Heyman was out of creative. Same with Black. If he's still dating her that's a perfect example of a guy who should be a license to print money who WWE is totally squandering. Knowing WWE they'll refuse to release him if he asks for it and he'll end up getting a push out of it -
That's spot on. (Other than agreeing with him on the Bucks and Kenny )
-
Bryan had actually told that one before, lol. I still love Piper, he was my first favorite wrestler as a kid, but there is no denying that he was fucking crazy and the gimmick was no gimmick. When Dave dropped the Nord story even Bryan was surprised. It starts with Dave like, "remember when you were supposed to work Nord?" and Bryan is like, "WHAT?!!? No.....when? Like, a couple years ago, with Filthy Tom?" and Dave is like, "NO!" Bryan had never even heard it before!!!!

Epic Roddy Piper talk on today's WOR from Dave & Bryan including Piper trying to bring Nord in to Portland to put a hit on Alvarez

Glad I skipped all that noise on this week's Drive Thru. I'm at the point where I just skip the AEW and NXT reviews altogether because all the bullshit and cheap, petty attacks outweigh whatever good might come from it. I already skip the commercial reads and the songs. Pretty soon I'll just be skipping it altogether at this rate. And I'm not a hardcore AEW fanboy, they're far from perfect, but his inability to admit that Kenny and the Bucks, ya know, might actually be good rasslers, is kind of infuriating to me. And I'm definitely not in the audience of people he's aiming to trigger
-
And honestly, I think part of this could be Jericho "living the gimmick" of the rock star who breaks the rules and doesn't give a fuck because his entire life is a blend of fantasy and reality. And also because he lives in a bubble and is getting constantly tested, and wrongly assumes most people can get tested for free whenever they want (not the case in most of the country). I think most of the people in denial about covid, the strain it's putting on the health care system and the economy etc. are living in a fantasy world where they're the pro-freedom rebels for not taking it seriously, because they either can't handle taking it seriously or their lives are so boring and soulless that shit like this and dressing up for Trump gives them purpose
-
I still like Jericho. And because I've listened to him a lot, and read his books, I really don't expect him to be well informed on politics and world events that might not directly affect him. He's always seemed kind of libertarian to me. He got along great with Vince and he loves making money, what do you expect? He's not socially conservative, but he is in some right wing ways, and I don't think he pays attention to Trump raping the environment for profit and all the other horrible shit he's done, though I wish he would. You'd think he son "Ash the Fish Expert" would let him know what dorks Donald Trump & his cabal are I can't defend him doing Sturgis or having Trump Jr on his show (didn't listen), and I'm not on twitter but I don't enjoy some of his idiotic takes. But remember this is a 50 yr old guy who has lived and partied like a rock star for a long time, with a massive ego, who likes to play heel and be contrarian, what do people expect?
