  1. Most of the problems would have been solved if they had brought in all of the big guns at once instead of parceling them out. They eventually brought in Hall, Nash, Hogan, Flair Bischoff and Goldberg, if they had brought them in all at once and run that WCW v. WWF, you probably wouldn't have needed to turn your own guys
  2. Not impossible to have a good one at all, everyone who got the Memphis set has seen Koko v. Dundee which was awesome
  3. Dundee is definitly the king of the studio, there were a bunch of Dundee studio stuff that didn't make the set too for some reason which ruled as well. His heel run in 86 with Buddy was awesome shit, as he was just brutalizing jobbers. There is a hideous beating of Billy Joe Travis which I almost nominated even though it was completely one sided
  4. I remember absoulutely loving that Ware/Lane tag, haven't rewatched it again, but I am sort of baffled by your response to it
  5. I think a Loser will leave town at the end of the number one match, but that Loser could be Dundee, Lawler, Dundee or Savage
  6. It was less that people didn't buy it, more that people didn't know that it was his finisher, so Danielson kicking out didn't mean anything. Shit I don't even remember Nakajima throwing a German suplex.
  7. I really liked the one Wanz v. Vader match I saw, how much other Otto is on tape, are we sure he sucked in the ring?
  8. YOU GO TO HELL!! THAT IS WHAT I SAY
  9. There are only a couple of matches which go over 30, and nothing like the 40-60 minute matches on the Mid-South set. Also a pretty wide variety of kooky shit which should easy to rank. You will either love Freddy v. Buddy Landell or you will be the kind of joyless sack of shit who doesn't think it should have made it

  11. I actually though Stan Lane kind of sucked as a member of MX, which is one of the reasons I have been so surprised how much I dug Fabs Stan Lane on the Memphis set
  12. The correct answer is Norvell Austin and Dennis Condrey
  13. Yeah Steiner has a huge heart, and by that I mean dangerously enlarged
  14. I don't understand the mentality of people who feel Lashley or Brock acted somehow dishonorably. Since when is anyone required to stay in a job they aren't happy in, out of some misguided idea of loyalty to a billion dollar corporation. Shane chanting "You Sold Out" at Wrestlemania to a guy who turned down millions of dollars to pursue a dream is one of my favorite idiot wrestling mark stories ever, and I can't believe that it is an idea embraced by so many people
  15. I remember it being really good when I got on PPV the first time. Haven't had a chance to rewatch it yet
  16. If anyone is having problems registering over at DVDVR, PM me here and I can take care of it
  17. We have had some problems with our mod forum lately, which may be why you weren't approved, but go ahead and send a ballot to [email protected]
  18. Man Great American Bash 1992 is as great as I remember it being. I am about half through and will throw up a review on SC, but has their ever been a greater tourney then the NWA Tag tourney? I guess you can argue for Super J, but I will take heavyweight tag wrestling over juniors wrestling any day
  19. Everybody make sure to watch Lawler v. Bockwinkle on this weeks update. I don't know why they have MSC footage, but the match is awesome, starts a bit slow, but fuck is main event Lawler a treat to see. This may be a first time match, as we haven't come across it before during our footage search for the Memphis set
  20. Training untill you puke is no big deal, back when I was boxing, if I started up after missing a few weeks I would always throw up, vomited post football and rugby practices too, that is pretty standard for intense training in any sport
  21. Would all the fake Memphis masked guys count? I mean you had fake Assassins, a fake Spoiler, fake Mr. Wrestling, fake Super Destroyer. Pretty much every big masked gimmick of the 80's had someone in Memphis ripping them off.
  22. We aren't talking about Harley Race throwing out a piledriver in a match and it not leading to a finish. We are talking about Race piledriving people on the floor in meaningless undercard matches and forcing the guy taking the move to no-sell it. Those things are pretty different, and it is as bad as IWA-MS rookies throwing burning hammers in openers.
  23. The title of this thread is misleading, I was comparing the two because I saw similar flaws. I don't think anyone here is arguing that Angle is better then Race. My argument is that they have similar shitty tendancies. Also meaningless piledriver where the opponent no-sells seems to be something Race does alot of, when it happens in a Flair match he seems like the right guy to blame for it.
  24. Yeah what Jingus said, the Harley throw away piledriver on the floor was a Harley spot. I remember when watching the Kirshner match thinking "hey he did that stupid piledriver on the floor spot again." Let me aritculate a little about how bad that spot was, and how it fits a little more into my general problems with Race. You have King Harley working fourth from the top on a Boston house show against a JTTS like Kierchner, and trying to work his touring World Title match. Kirchner is treated here like the local top babyface who has been waiting his entire career to get a shot at the legendary Harley Race, instead of like a lower card guy with only slightly more wins then losses. So about four minutes into the match Race takes him outside and piledrives him on the floor. Now this is a move that traditionally is used in 80's wrestling to put a guy out for a couple of months, build to a huge return, or write someone out of a territory. Here Race is throwing it out in the early minutes of an undercard match, not only that Race rolls back into the ring. Which mean Kirchner has to get back into the ring to beat a ten count, which means he basically has to no-sell the move. Then moments later you have Kirchner getting two counts with bodyslams, or you have Race taking giant theatrical bumps for the Corps shitty punches. Piledriver on the floor= throwaway, bodyslam=dramtic two count. Watching that match I think "Man Race has some cool stuff (piledriver, double underhook suplex, crazy back bump to the floor), but what the fuck is supposed to be going on in this match?" It is very similar to my thoughts on most Kurt Angle matches (Why is Shane McMahon throwing Suplexes on an Olympian? Does everyone know dozens of reversals of the ankle lock?) This isn't an isolate bad Harley performance, hell this was probably the best match of Corporal Kirchners career, this was a match which pretty much encapsulated what he does very badly.
