  1. That 4/23 match is sitting at 175 on my ballot, it stunk and wouldn't have made the set if it wasn't so famous
  2. Yeah 86-89 is totally killer, shorter matches too which helps. I really thought some of the North South matches dragged, but there are a ton of 7-12 minute slugfests in the last third of the set.
  3. It's been this shitty for ages. Don't forget: there also was a NJ Tokyo Dome with NJ vs NOAH matches on it. If it were 01/04/97 and even a *normal* NJ Dome show, let alone a NJ vs AJ theme, we would have seriously given a shit about it. John Lucha really sucks now too.
  4. Reading some of the comments so far on DVDVR, it is amusing to me how much of smkelly's whining has been discredited by what people are saying. He was bitching about two of the TM v. Dynamite matches being left off, meanwhile that series has been savaged by people watching, with most people wondering why we put on as many as we did. The Black Tiger v. TM match we put on has been universally panned, I can't imagine anyone wanting to see those two lock up again. Meanwhile Rocco v. Fujinami has finish at the top of some peoples first disc ballot, and both TM v. Hamada and TM v. Wright have been widely praised.

  8. Dusty didn't suck in the ring, and I really don't imagine most people would argue that he did.
  9. Don't forget "he throws good punches". Always an easy out for us. I don't think anyone's arguing that Jimmy Valiant is a good worker. Does his comedy shtick well, but does everything else poorly. "It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it".....the way Jimmy does a lot of stuff stinks, so I thing the saying holds true. Rayo I don't see the problem. I thought we were past the whole "aging CMLL main eventers of the 90's suck by default" thing. To be fair to the Boogie Woogie Man, he was clearly pretty washed up in the 80's. Going through the Memphis footage there was clips of 70's Valient were he looked like a pretty dynamic brawler.
  10. Here is one Briscoe Brothers or British Bulldogs Really a pair of teams who work very similar, and I can't see much of an argument for the Bulldogs, and I am not even a huge Briscoes fan. Your best NOAH Briscoes tags smoke the NJ Bulldogs stuff, WWF Bulldogs never had any matches as good as the best ROH Briscoes even thought they had better opponents, and Marc v. Jay is way better then the pretty terrible Dynamite v. Davey Boy match.
  11. Let me third the comments by NJ 80's set brethren. I haven't watched 90's Choshu or Hase in a while, but in the 80's it isn't even close. Choshu is a huge star in epic, amazing matches, Hase is the fourth best junior in the late 80s. It would be like comparing Ric Flair to Chris Champion.
  12. I am in the midst of trying to watch the 60+ nominated matches I have on my list to finish up the NJ 80's set, but after I do that I will dig up the match and rewatch it.
  13. You can tell his views on the purpose of military intervention based on a wrestling angle?
  14. He called blacks subhuman and denied the holocaust. Racist isn't a term I tend to throw around lightly.
  15. Where did you get a copy of that from?
  16. I am pretty shocked that you liked this match, this didn't seem like a different strokes for different folks type match, but a pile of shit with both guys blowing spots and looking like crap. I liked the headlock section, but otherwise it was a trainwreck.
  17. Tom Renesto worked as a heel match maker in Memphis in 1985
  18. I got a copy of it a couple of months ago, actually thought it was terrible. One of the worst matches I have ever seen either guy in
  19. Who on that board isn't an idiot? F4W may be the worst wrestling board on the internet. Think about what that covers.
  20. To be fair, I haven't seen any of either guy for at least 18 months, but the only top class matches London has are 2/3 Falls v Dragon and the street fight with Michael Shane, and I'm not even sure how far they would hold up now, it's been so long since I watched them. I don't think I've ever seen Sydal have an actively bad match, and his match against Rave at Final Showdown is better than anything I've seen London involved in except the two matches I mentioned. Sydal is a much better sympathetic face, sells better and his execution is second to none. London can be pretty good, but he hasn't the personality or x factor to hold my attention. I don't think he ever had the potential of a big fanbase in WWE either, he isn;t as good looking as Sydal (women), his moves look less flashy (kids) and was never particularly 'cool', though to be fair on that count few wrestling characters are. I don't see what unique selling point he brings to the table, whereas I can clearly see that with Sydal. London is also Mexican and thus doesn't posses the Aryan pure blood of Sydal right?
  21. Pearce is terrible, I am not a fan of ROH overkill wrestling at all, but Pearces booking has been total shit, and he seems to have no idea what the audience want. ROH feels like Russo WCW or end of the line UWF at this point.
  22. What Fargos are the Fargos?
  23. I would rather have Lawler baby sit my little cousins, then have you babysit them
  24. I don't know how to respond to that. Feels to me like giving you the willies would be an endorsement for a persons character, not a negative.
  25. The girl Lawler was accused of raping recanted her story, so calling him a child molester seems a little out of bounds
