  1. Matt mentioned that new Race NWA title match in the Race thread, and man what a bag of shit that was. Ted was outside my list anyway, but Matt reminding me of that match puts a nail in his coffin.
  2. I think Rude's run is just too short to put him on a list of the 100 greatest wrestlers of all time. I think if it was 100 greatest 5 year peaks, you can make the argument, but honestly a couple of good years, when you compare it to guys who have had 20+ year careers, I just don't think he has a chance. It has to be Volk Han level stuff, and Rude was never that.
  3. NWA Anarchy is a bit of a footage black hole, I was able to track down the NWA Elite vs. Devil's Rejects War Games for my book, but most of Anarchy doesn't seem to be available, and there are some killer match ups in that fed
  4. I am interested to see what Matt Makowski will do in the next five years, he is already one of the indy guys I most look forward to watching and has only really been at it for a couple of years. The Chris Dickinson matches are highlights so far
  5. Five years is a long time, who are some guys who might make it with five more years of output?
  6. Sangre is a better comparison. Although I am not sure that criticism of Necro really applies. He basically did retire, he has had five matches since 2016. I mean pretty much every wrestler ever who didn't die young would show up occasionally for old man nostalgia matches.
  7. That SHLAK match hurting him would be like rating Negro Navarro poorly because he has begun to slow down in his 70s. I mean Necro isn't in his 70s, but he basically is. Also I actually thought that SHLAK match had some real moment of smart work, especially considering how awful SHLAK is and how physically limited Necro is. I am not going to rank Dynamite Kid but it isn't because of that MPRO match.
  8. I don't really consider the WWF runs of 80s territories guys. It's pretty much always bad, so I wouldn't ding DiBiase or JYD or Duggan, although I do think the fact that they could still be excellent in that constraint really helps Piper and Valentine
  9. Here is a review of a great 2 Cold vs. Kingston match from IWA-MS http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2019/01/kingston-with-gravy-mercedes-add.html
  10. I helped put together the Mid-South set and there were some deadly dull DiBiase matches we didn’t include. There are some high end brawls but the average DiBiase house show match was sominex
  11. Drop some match recs. On the surface Mercedes as a top 25 seems insane, but I like her a lot and could see myself convinced to put her on a list
  12. Guys what are we even doing here?
  13. I could have sworn that Scott Decker had a Jerry Lawler vs. Ronnie Garvin match on one of his comp tapes, I can't find any record of the match lists from those comps. I would assume it would have been either 9/3/88 or 10/30/88 which are the only two singles between the two on Cagematch
  14. Roy Lucier has gotten a ton of Tenay's lucha collection and is uploading it on Youtube, a lot of that stuff is stuff that Lynch didn't have and is new, so hopefully those will show up. Satanico vs. Emilio Charles in a hair match sounds amazing.
  15. I think OJ has seen some British stuff which is widely out there Is there any Japan handhelds or TV which Dan is still hunting Obviously there is a bunch of Houston stuff which is in limbo
  16. When I posted about the Panther vs. Santo bloodbath in the Panther thread, I was thinking about footage that we know exists but don't have. What else is out there, but not out there.
  17. I vaguely remember an AWS Panther vs. Felino match from around the same time. Anyone have that?
  18. I was at that show! Caught Hashimoto's bandana
  19. There is a bloodbath match against Santo from Monterrey, which exists on tape and Bihari is trying to get his hands on. Still pictures look gnarly as shit, so if we get that it will be another footage feather in his cap
  20. Match above is a better Ishii match then Ishii ever had
  21. Kingston Road matches are specific subset of his big matches and there have been some awesome ones. I think this might be my favorite. Irie is a sawed off asskicker, who is going to hit hard and take a beating but this was Kingston taking what he can do and crafting a classic around it. Standard hard hit start, until Kingston takes an elbow to the ear and collapses. For much of the rest of the match he does some amazing head trauma selling, constantly shaking off cobwebs, unsteady on his feet, but moving forward and attacking. Irie is a force in this match, he breaks Kingston's hand by ducking his head on the backfist so Kingston hits the top of his skull instead of his jaw. Such a simple counter and so awesome looking. He also shrugs off a big lariat, hard to lariat a guy with no neck. There was a bunch of tough guy selling in this match, but Kingston especially put enough pain behind his eyes that it wasn't just a cheap stunt. Finish had Kingston dumping Irie on his head and Irie popping up to stumble around, it was a tribute to the Williams vs. Kobashi finish and done about as well.
  22. Folks need to check out Darby's EVOLVE stuff if they haven't before, he had some absolute classics there before going to AEW. The Zach Sabre Jr. , Hero, WALTER and Riddle matches are especially worth checking out
  23. I think he has been one of the best wrestlers in the world over the last five years or so. I am actually lower on his AEW stuff then his traveling the world indy work which preceded it (although I am thrilled he got his shot) Since 2016 I rated 18 matches of his EPIC in my C+A Eddie Kingston http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2018/09/complete-and-accurate-eddie-kingston.html All of these were pretty under the radar, but absolutely incredible, he dropped gems against LA Park, Daniel Makabe, Tre Lamar, Babatunde, Tom Lawlor. It almost didn't matter who he was in with, he was going to elevate it. I have also dug into his pre-2016 stuff and found some real killers which aren't really super hyped. There is an amazing Low-Ki match which is really minimalist and brutal, a CZW Joker match which is as violent as wrestling gets, in addition to more hyped stuff like the Hero feud. Wouldn't shock me if King ended up being my highest rated US worker of the 21st century.
  24. Everyone posting in this thread needs to buy my book for jacking my C+A concept
  25. Sure is! http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2009/08/yoshiaki-fujiwara-never-takes-step-back.html
