I don't think the French footage explosion has helped Cesca particularly, with more of a context, he seems like more of solid hand, then a transcendent standout. Weirdly we haven't come across very many new Cesca matches, but now that we see more of other guys he doesn't stand out as much. I might find a place for him on the list, but he won't be the top rated Catcheur.

Guys lets be nicer to Jerry, we don't want to be the subject of his Substack essay on cancel culture in pro-wrestling fandom. I can see him pitching it to Bari Weiss as we speak.

If I do this, I am going to have 6-10 French Catch guys in the mix, feels like people should watch this stuff because we have plenty of newly discovered great wrestlers who are absolutely peers to guys like Flair, Kobashi, Santo etc

What do you guys think the floor for available matches is? We have guys in the French footage who seem clearly to be among the best wrestlers ever, but we only have two or three matches. Feels like a list without Tony Oliver or Modesto Aledo doesn't make sense, but can we judge someone on so little footage?

I almost got into multiple fist fights with Hulk Hogan fans at that show.

It's only one match but Fujiwara vs. Kawada was terrible and both of those guys were all time greats

I mean Muraco just sucked, he was a cool character, but I still haven't seen a great performance in the ring.

I think watching some Modesto Aledo might get you out of your funk too.

Prince is like Rey Mysterios grandfather, and the rudos are great bases. Ends up with some real violence too These are three of the best matches, but the week to week quality of this stuff is off the charts.

DC for years (we are in Denver area now), I am from the Bay Area originally which is how I went to the KOI, timed it with a visit home. Don't think I ever went to an ECW show (might have gone to one in DC, but can't remember for sure). Went to a bunch of OMEGA shows in North Carolina in addition to Northwest Indies. I wrote up on top that my top five are some order are Santo vs. Park in Atlanta Corino vs. Homicide Callihan vs. Finlay Hashimoto vs. Corino vs. Steele vs. Knight Rey Jr. vs. Low-Ki I am sure I am forgetting some of the ROH shows, I also tend to mix together shows I was at, and shows I saw on tape. I think I was live for Aries vs. Samoa Joe where he won the title, but I am not positive.

I was at all of the Ki vs. Dragon matches live for a while, both ECWA matches, the Shamrock match and even the King of the Indies APW match

I have been to a lot of live wrestling shows over the years, it's probably either LA Park vs. El Hijo Del Santo from the Juster Atl Lucha show, Homicide vs. Steve Corino from ROH Better Friends Stiffer Enemies or Shinya Hashimoto vs. Steve Corino vs. Dylan Knight vs. Gary Steele. Low-Ki vs Rey Mysterio Jr. from JAPW is up there too.

There are a fair number of Shooter who were really good almost immediately, obviously Volk Han but Bas Rutten ruled in his handful of wrestling matches, Ronda and Shayna Bayzler were great pretty much out the gate, all the earliest footage we have of the BattlArts guys in PWFG was very good. U-Style guys, Kazunari Murakami etc.

I think in many ways WWF right now (or at least before COVID) is similar to watching WCW in the 90s, much of the pushed stuff was hard to watch, but there was so much happening that you would have plenty of cool shit to scrape. This year had Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak which was the equivalent of a killer Benoit or Eddie PPV match, and shows like NXT UK and 205 Live had great stuff which no one watched. Brian Kendrick is basically Villano IV.

We reviewed an awesome Paradigm Pro Show on Segunda Caida http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2020/07/paradigm-pro-wrestling-fighting-spirit.html It is a UWFI style tournament which is my favorite non Yuki Ishikawa adjacent indy shootstyle show. There is a great superfight between Stephan Bonnar and Matthew Justice and a really great semi-final and final. Haven't heard this show get much pimping before, but it is dope
