  1. It is really awesome, but man the standards of the Mid-South set were really high, I mean look at this top 20 1.) Dick Murdoch vs. Barry Windham ( 7/11/1987 ) - 10894 points 3.) Ted DiBiase vs. Ric Flair ( 11/6/1985 ) - 10543 points 4.) Hacksaw Duggan vs. Buzz Sawyer ( 11/11/1985 ) - 10106 points 5.) Terry Gordy vs. Dr. Death ( 6/22/1986 ) - 8383 points 18.) Magnum T.A. vs. Ted DiBiase ( 7/6/1984 ) - 8364 points 19.) Ted DiBiase vs. Dick Murdoch ( 12/27/1985 ) - 8348 points 20.) Ric Flair vs. Wahoo McDaniel ( 7/12/1985 ) - 8346 points Also you figure with all of the Houston stuff which has come out since then, a bunch of those matches would have broken the top 20 too.
  2. I went to a show where the main event was Rambo vs. Disco Inferno in a cage, I don't remember it being good. Northern Indies in the 90s were rough
  3. Come on man, if someone can't comment on AEW unless they watch a bunch guys dicking around on web series, certainly someone shouldn't make some giant pronouncement on Rush without watching CMLL.

  11. Slim J vs. Corey Hollis in Anarchy wrestling had an awesome dog collar match and the YARD CALL both of which were super brutal
  12. I think she had some house show trios against Heidi Lovelace, and I still prefer her IWA-MS sleazeball street fight with Jordynne Grace http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2014/12/iwa-mid-south-top-18-matches-18-heidi.html Outside of that every match Ronda has is the career peak of her opponent
  13. Everyone she has wrestled has had their career best match, including Angle and Helmsley
  14. Its Ronda right? Every big match she has been has been awesome and she has been main eventing big shows
  15. : DiBiase is a guy who I like as a brawler, but have never really rated as a technical title match guy. This is really the first time I have seen him perform at the level of an NWA champion in an NWA champion style match (this wasn't for a title, but was very much in that style.) We get some solid matwork early, with Ted working a bunch of different variations of a hammerlock, and Tenryu putting on a tight front face lock. Much of the match is contested on the mat, but we get some big stand up sections including DiBiase taking a big spill to the floor and eating a really nice looking Tenryu tope. Tenryu also unloads with some great looking sumo thrusts which send DiBiase to the floor again. I loved the gutwrench and powerslam by DiBiase, and Tenryu really nails an enzigiri and piledriver. Would have liked a finish, but I get why this went to a draw. I agree with Matt that this would have been highly though of if it was around earlier, and while I prefer stuff with a little more flash, this was a hell of a meat and potatoes bout.

  22. Colon vs. Rodz is out there?
  23. Aja challenges for the Oz Academy title and shows that when the lights are bright she is still an incredible performer. She is 48 years old and can still rip off a classic like this. The early sections of this match were a classic wrestling story of arm vs. leg. Aja brutalizes Shida's knee while Shida tries to tear up Kong's arm, each trying to weaken the others big strike. Aja knows how to fuck up a knee, she throws these thudding kicks to the patella, punches Shida in the kneecap, tricks her into a jumping knee first into Aja's garbage can, and even breaks an armbar by repeatedly head-butting the side of the knee. Shida responds with some good arm work, including a nasty Fujiwara and a couple of sick looking stomps to the bicep. We get a great finish run, with Aja nearly getting a countout win by brainbustering Shida on the ramp. Aja tries to land some of her big backfists, although she doesn't get the full force with her bad arm, Shida has this knee strike where she grabs both of her opponents arms and pulls them into her knee. She obliterates Aja with this move, including splitting open the side of her head and swelling up her cheek and eye, that is a cool thing about Joshi, it can be chugging along and all of a sudden turn into the most violent thing you have ever seen. Final moments are a blood soaked war. I checked this out on whim to see some 2018 Aja, was not expecting a stone cold classic.
  24. Eddie Kingston as Tenryu style matches are some of my favorites, and this is maybe the pinnacle. Kingston does this crazy springboard punch and just smushes Storms nose, and the blood flowing over his goofy mask mustache is actually an awesome visual. I think Storm's awkwardness actually works in the story of the match, he is kind of a sloppy goof who has found himself in a fight to the death, and steps up to the challenge. Kingston is mauling him, busting up his nose, making him leak all over the ring, and Storm keeps moving forward. The slaps into the DDT looked awesome, and King, being the greatest seller in modern wrestling, sold it like he had nerve damage. Storm also hit some great fired up headbutts and a german suplex which dumped Kingston right on the crown of his head. Storm has remarkable bad looking Shining Wizards for a guy who has Shining Wizard themed merch, but again I thought the awkwardness of it kind of worked for a guy who was swallowing a bunch of his own blood. Finish was great, Storm standing up after the suplexes was fine, people who get legit KO'd often wobble to their feet, and it wasn't like Storm was hitting offense or anything, that final backfist was Aja Kong murdering Chapparita Asari on RAW level violent, and jamming this bit of gore in the middle of a Chikara card which I am sure had Ants and Hypnosis and other dumb shit really clarified it.
  25. These are two of the most athletically gifted wrestlers in the world, and one might expect a souped up version of Ki vs. Red or Fenix vs. Flamita, but instead we got Mil Muertes vs. Fenix with Ki in the role of a smaller even more violent Muertes. Much of the match has Ki beating on Fenix with brutal shots, and Fenix leaks blood all over the ring. There are some awesome bits of athletic amazement here and there, they do a variation of the Ki vs. Red Matrix spot, Fenix flies into the second row with a tope con hilo, Fenix does a crazy rope trick rana and a rope trick Spanish Fly. Much of this match was straight violent though, with Ki grunting and screaming as he tried to kick Fenix's ribs through his chest, or Fenix unloading a gunshot open hand shot on Ki's chest. Finish was kind of nifty with Ki pushing Fenix into the ropes and Selena pulling of Fenix's mask. While Fenix is covering up his face he eats a brutal top rope double stomp to the spine for the pin. Great stuff, feels like the start of cool rivalry, and Konan bringing in luchadores to topple Ki should be great (already jazzed for Ki vs. Daga at the NYC show)
