  1. Great ladder match! Very violent, great bumping by Dolph, hot crowd. Harper's the world's greatest Frankenstein.
  2. Dolph's modified retro Browns logo is a nice touch.
  3. Regarding NXT's quality and HHH vs. RAW, he made a good point about the differences of the shows during an interview with Sam Roberts. Sam pointed out that a lot of fans prefer NXT over RAW and HHH made mention of how RAW is a slave to a trillion masters. NXT? Not so much. Not saying NXT May or may not be as good with HHH not in charge. But that statement was his way of saying that someone new in charge of RAW can only do so much in that environment, plus I came away thinking that NXT is a bit of a relief for HHH and gives him that "wrestling fix", as being a corporate executive/businessman is something I don't think he's all that crazy about.
  4. First exposure to an NXT Takeover event. Completely blown away! Not everything 100% clicked, but the stuff with build paid off big time. What a great main event and post match angle! As mentioned, doing it after the copyright was amazing! So, so happy for Generico and Steen! I'm still coming to terms with the idea that two guys I got to see in a Knights of Columbus Hall in Vanier, Ontario (about a 10 minute drive) are about to have a main event feud in the biggest company's development territory.
  5. "Why is Prince Devitt in blackface? Wouldn't a minstrel gimmick work better for the Vaudvillians?" Too funny!
  6. One of the bigger takeaways I got from this was that Vince seems more willing to work with Punk than he is with Cesaro.

  8. Late in replying, but not much to add that's too different in general from what others were saying. Some things I agreed with Punk, other things (likely less than the former) I disagreed. I forget who said it earlier, but someone summed it up perfectly about Punk about how these types of interviews with him come off so smooth and natural that it's an easy listen. My take on the stuff with Jericho: If memory serves, Chris equated Punk not talking with him to be Punk not talking with any of his a friends. That's kind of a shit thing to do, but also if there really was a friendship of sorts (which given their histories I'm not sure there really was) Chris kind of treated it like a reality show of sorts "he won't talk to me, blah blah blah". Also, if he did get the interview, there's no doubt he would've done at least a week's worth of plugging (look at the HHH podcast for proof, this one would've no doubt been more hyped). Punk had things to say, but clearly wanted his way of doing things: no hype, done and produced when things have died down and when people didn't expect it, and basically on his own terms. Colt has a podcast that he obviously wants to succeed with, but he met Punk's conditions (which, as a friend, he obviously had no problem with). Without digging too personal into things, you can see the differences in Punk's relationships with Colt and Chris. It's similar with Cliff Compton. I don't think Cliff made any mention about Punk being at that OVW show where Cliff won the gold again. Punk clearly wants certain things as low key as possible, and he has a good understanding of who will or won't do that.
  9. Cena is entitled to a title match, right? I'm assuming that's why, if his team loses, he can't be fired?

Probably the appeal of being the one guy never to have been with the E all this time. I don't give a whoop about that, but I guess some do.
  11. The wife pointed out that Fandango seems to be more Strictly Ballroom than before (ie simply more classy). Also seems to be presented as less of a joke (seemed more vicious) but we'll see how that goes. Didn't get to see the whole match, but it seemed to be like, well, a Fandango return match vs Justin Gabriel - what you'd expect.
  12. So....I'm in Ontario...and...yep, I got the Rogers version of the Network last month. To be honest...I'm quite happy with it and watch it fairly frequently. The deciding factor in me getting it was the ability to watch live PPVs (or anything else) via cable and not have to worry about buffering, throttling, or whatever (the internet we have is very hit or miss, particularly in peak periods). I was also able to research what they have On Demand beforehand (Rogers search feature is helpful with that) and when I got the subscription last month (week leading up to Hell In A Cell), it had 160 titles (more than the 13 they started with in August). It's up to about 240 now and counting. They add seemingly a PPV or two per day. So it's not the full network, obviously, but there's still more than enough there for me to watch and I get the viewing experience (zero issues) I want. I do have a question, perhaps someone like Bix can answer: When they announced the numbers last month, I know they included the international totals. Do those international figures include the Canadian ones? The reason I ask is because I don't know how much access WWE has to that since Rogers oversees that distribution directly and not them. Thanks to anyone who knows whether or not this is the case.

My mom isn't that bad, but she never really used the digital box too much, as she only stuck with the TVs in her house with analog cable. However, with analog channels being cut heavily here in Ontario by Rogers, she found herself wanting to get a new box for one of the other TVs...and loves it! She's asked me for help ("Mom, it's simple - the remote's the same, but "Guide", "Info" and "Exit" are your best friends.") but she's become quite good at it, and quite enjoys it. Her internet, of course, is limited to simply banking. Doubt that'll change. A different example: I hang out twice a week at lunch with a group of people 20-25 years older than me (so mid-50s to early-60s). One of the ones who is retired (out of the group of 5-10 depending on the day) is very adaptive to changing technology and has found many different ways to watch streaming services on his TV, constantly trying to improve that experience. In his words "I can't watch something on my tablet for any longer than 15 minutes". The rest of the group is pretty clueless about that type of thing. I think a lot of it isn't so much "technological barriers" (the technology is available, after all) so much as old habits die hard. People of a significant age group aren't going to change their habits, with some exceptions of course. To be honest, I think the WWE knew this, both the age groups that follow them as well as the viewing methods of choice, which is why they tried twice at commercial TV deals with the Network before going the streaming route when those got rejected.
  14. Next one is supposed to be HBK-HHH. If they do things right, I'm certain stuff from '96-'01 will be far more interesting (even with DVD releases, they only glossed over that) than the '02-'04 feud recap.

Final backstage bit was great! Was worried that Ryback's defection meant an excuse for HHH to don the tights again, but I'm legit excited about Luke Harper being part of that team!

Yeah, I think Rusev walks out on them (it's an easy way to protect him) but it'll be Bad News Brown style rather than a turn.
  17. So apparently, us maple syrup-loving hockey fanatics north of you guys are going to get Smackdown a day earlier: http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2014/11/07/22058041.html Question for Loss or Will: If something big happens on Smackdown (ha!), when can I talk about it here?

I've always thought, on top of situations like this, they should make Main Event mean something. I get that Raw and Smackdown need to have value for obvious reasons, but heck, Main Event is live on the Network. Treat the show as if you miss it, you could be missing something. Same with the match tonight, which they were smart to have a title match.

Great return for Ryback tonight! Fun RAW so far.

This. Her "even I can do this" bit regarding cheering for the Spurs was great. Tonight shows how much she smokes her husband right now. The idea and concept behind HHH's promo wasn't bad, but his own dated execution loses the crowd into chanting "What?". I don't think that's happened with Steph since she turned heel last year.
  21. I caught the show and liked it just fine. Ziggler-Cesaro was pretty fun, was hoping for three falls, but that second fall was a blast. Bellas was better than I expected, especially when they got away from any Irish whip spots and worked snug. Like Nikki's Rack Attack. I've seen better tag matches involving the Rhodes brothers, but I've seen worse tags in general. Rhodes (espcially Dustin) are better as faces. Cena-Orton was fine, just didn't really need the cell. Mizdow was fun and I agree with Dylan about Sheamus' work. Really loving Rusev right now, Lana is a great second, and Big Show had his working boots on too. As much as Mark Henry needs a refresh that probably involves a turn, I'm happy they put over Rusev strong. AJ-Paige was what it was. Ambrose-Rollins felt like too much of a tribute to the first two PPV cell matches, but it got the crowd going anyways and Ambrose dominated before the Wyatt finish. Wyatt appearance was goofy and I would've rather see Ambrose go over, but I don't think the loss will hurt him either. Someone said earlier about new stars not getting pushed, but what we know going forward is Ambrose-Wyatt and eventually Orton-Rollins. The show, if anything, made me wonder what Cena will do next. I hope it isn't being the first to beat Rusev effectively. So what would it be? Judd Apatow movie hype leading to another feud with Miz? Henry heel turn for another Cena-Henry match? Telling Nikki to go easy on her sister the next 30 days? Is the Brock match going to happen at Survivor Series instead of Royal Rumble?
  22. About a third of the way through. (When I read it, I breeze through parts, but have taken long breaks from it.) The hotel conference room story was great.
  23. Random Canadian update, in case JNLister or anyone else is wondering: - Remember back in August when WWE On Demand on Rogers had a measly 13 titles? Well, I was able to do a search within Rogers' main On Demand title for WWEOD content, without actually being a subscriber. I counted 160 titles. Obviously not as good as the real version, but a massive improvement nonetheless. - This sort of thing comes and goes, but we actually have a full week's worth of Network programming listed as well. I don't know how much will change, but it's there.
  24. Someone made a comp of all of them: I'm assuming "I like it Raw" was used starting Sept 95
