  1. WWE's story Sad and very sudden. I just watched that Hart-Bigelow match from Spain the other day too.
  2. The firings right now don't surprise me. I believe during the fall that, according to Meltz, some PPV numbers and such were down a fair amount compared to last year. When that happens, out come the pink slips. I had no idea Gangrel was still with the company though.
  3. WOW. I never even thought about that, but you're exactly right. The Vipers should've been renamed Substance Abuse. *points out that their team was swept by Rick Martel's Visionaries too*
  4. Blanchard's certainly possible, depending how much contact they have with him. He did interviews with them before, but I believe it was briefly for Confidential or something. I think Road Warrior Animal, and maybe Paul Ellering may have some interview clips too. They may wind up having past interviews, or more recent stuff. I believe Animal left on good terms anyway, IIRC. Too bad Cornette's with TNA now. He could provide good insight for this. I wonder if HHH would be capable in the near future of providing some "childhood memories" of the Horsemen while in rehab. (Not that I'd want that, but I can see it happening.)
  5. Moi aussi for both! Thanks! PM'd you. -- Loss, 01/18
  6. Yeah, PRIDE 10 - Return Of The Warriors has the rep of such an incredible show that they re-released separately from the first Collector sets. I think this is like this everywhere, not just in the U.S. Nice seeing Rudo back here.
  7. Really? In 2003, I pretty much lived next door to a bar that showed every WWE PPV, amongst others. It was great too, as if you came to the bar fairly early (a good hour before the show), they wouldn't charge you then, but would go around the bar and charge people $5 or $10 (depending on the "level" of PVV). That's when I would make an emergency restroom trip. - Marty: Is a cheapskate sometimes.
  8. Not saying it's the best, but 1995 is probably the most underrated. I remember the Rumble match being pretty good, Jarrett-Ramon being very fun (and better than their WM11 match), Diesel-Hart being fine (albeit the least memorable of their three PPV matches), and the tag match being perfectly fine. Of course, I haven't seen that show since '95, so who knows what I'd think now?
  9. Only things I was able to catch were the Hardy/Maria-Nitro/Melina match and the Rated RKO promo. Promo was really well done with tons of heat, and anytime they use an older star to help build the current guys (especially they way it was done last night) is something I'm cool with. As for the tag match, anyone else notice once the women tagged in that Melina yelled out to Maria, "You ready?" before they started going at it? I got a kick out of that.
  10. Could be, but (in response to the PM you sent me regarding the wild possibility of Vince bringing back Jericho to face Cena at WM), Jericho could re-invent himself as being serious and being someone with a vendetta against Cena for "ending" his career the last time they met. The hair cut's a start, but they'd need to go further with it. At the same time, Jericho being a more serious, pissed off heel would likely be far more believable with that look than his previous, more well-known look.
  11. That's probably what you're thinking of (although I have no real access to 24/7, so I can't confirm either way). Flair/Race was rumoured to be on the 80s set, but they scrapped it, probably to make room for matches that hadn't yet been shown. Read the HHH quad tear thread at TSM. HTQ is bang-on about HHH being very lucky it wasn't the same quad. It would've meant good-bye career possibly if it had been. I wonder, assuming HHH continues wrestling, how much longer HHH keeps his current style. He's still a somewhat quasi-bodybuilder (albeit not the same hugeness he used to be) but also tries to be a true worker (athletic, bumps around, etc.) and more often than not, the two don't mix. That's precisely why last night's quad tear happened and why the 2001 quad tear happened. He also should change his finisher. Landing on your knees (even from that distance) for 250 nights a year can't exactly do wonders for said knees, or the upper parts of your legs.
  12. Only one of those matches has been on WWE DVDs twice (that being Lawler-Von Erich, which was on the 80s set and AWA set). Flair-Race was only on the Flair set, and there have been two Rockers-Rose/Somers matches, one on the Michaels set, and the other on the AWA set.
  13. Samoa Joe having a girlfriend in all this reminds me of when Stephanie threw Debra into the Austin-Rock mix, leading up to WM X-7. That ain't a good thing, of course.
  14. AFAIK, they simply wanted to "modernize" or "WWE-ize" the AWA logo. No, that logo never existed before. I guess they wanted a logo that simply said "AWA" and "American Wrestling Association", and didn't include the graphic of the two wrestlers on it.
  15. We have another candidate for this thread, as Hogan was doing an interview in Australia last week, and was asked if any wrestler had refused to another wrestler ever in the history of wrestling. His response?
  16. Exactly. That sort of thing falls under the same lines of Meltzer's recent report that Undertaker-Batista is in the plans for WrestleMania 23. It may be in the plans NOW (or may now even be a thing of the past) but who knows how things will be come March?
  17. Agreed. That whole thing doesn't change my stance with Meltzer, which is that I turn to him for news before anyone else. The tricky thing is that, since wrestling's a work and all, that sometimes you get other works outside of the ring, such as this one.
  18. Someone else can supply a "last time" because others probably care more about currrent wrestling than I do and would care about Dave digging his feet in. Does "Kurt Angle will NOT be going to TNA" count?
  19. Conventional wisdom says between 151,000 and 175,000, but my gut feeling says it'll be one tier lower, mainly because of the Christmas preparation season, and also because of what sek said about little preparation for it and how that'll result. But I could be wrong, as it is only the second ECW PPV of the year, and that alone could be a sell in itself.
  20. Loss even forgot about Cena and HHH teaming up the week before (albeit, he focused on stuff this week) in spite of the two having a feud which resulted in headlining WrestleMania this year. Heck, all of the above makes me long for anything back in the day involving HHH and Jericho. For all the brew-ha-ha about HHH and Jericho, at least the two have always had continuity. The odd time the two teamed up (such as in late 2002), there was always that sense of old hatred between the two and that reluctancy to team up. You don't get any of that continuity (or almost any continuity period) today.
  21. The Superdome is up-and-running again, Loss. The New Orleans Saints have moved back in, and the annual Bayou Classic (Southern vs. Grambling State) had their game this past weekend. Sad to see the Mid-South Coliseum close. Lots of memories.
  22. If you check the Properties of each photo, you'll see that HTQ is simply poking fun at fans like that. I found it funny regardless, as I've been at events where some fans are actually jotting notes of what seems to be each move in each match instead of, you know, sitting back and enjoying the show, or at least enjoying parts that would naturally appeal to them.
  23. Uncool and also a sign that there's nothing left to do with either guy. It presents greater problems too, as these guys could be used to help build up some younger guys, but the problem is that both guys have been around so long (and been on top so long) that it just makes everyone else look inferior by comparison. That problem, of course, is not exclusive to HHH and HBK, but they're not exactly helping wrestling move on for the sake of the future.
  24. Nice to see you're back, HTQ. Anyways, on the Piper DVD, Piper mentions that he was originally planned to face OJ Simpson at WrestleMania XII. Please tell me that's all false. Please?
  25. I think that's definitely my favourite Hogan lie. That raised the bar of absurdity increasingly.
