  1. If Candice Michelle actually acted "embarrassed", that is dumb, considering her Playboy material, as well as photos that have nicely made their way to Google images, as well as the fact that she already got into her underwear in front of the biggest WWE PPV audience of the year.
  2. I see the company's point (although I don't think it'll happen (the use of the scratch logo, that is)), but it makes me wonder why they just don't keep two copies -- the original copies, and the copies with the censoring/editing.
  3. That is one bright side with DX is that they're kept out of the main event scene, where Cena and Edge are both doing very well and are putting on compelling matches. At the same time, though, DX in the upper midcard means they're burying other midcards, like the three tag teams for the second straight week, amongst others. That doesn't help change along the way too much. Call me crazy, but I think the best part of RAW right now is the Intercontinental title division. Jeff Hardy, all things considered, has had a fine comeback, and cut one of his better babyface promos last night, where he put over the title and ran down some challengers for the title, making it seem important. Carlito is a very good worker, Nitro is getting better, as is Orton, and Benjamin can be counted on for solid performances too, even if he's constantly hooked up with bad storylines and angles. Here's hoping DX stays the heck out of all this.
  4. Rey Mysterio at the Mexico show very recently. I guess anything surrounding the mask in Mexico is no longer sacred.
  5. The Pillman-Luger match is superb; definitely one of Luger's best, and certainly one of Pillman's best. I need to rewatch the set again before deciding what match is the best of the bunch, but this match is definitely up there, as is Will's choice of WarGames (albeit, Sid's blatant calling of spots in the match is hilarious). That match is one of those things that cause you to ask yourself, "What the heck happened to Luger?" I should mention that I love the look of NWA/WCW back in the late 80s and early 90s. Love the light blue ring mat, and the blue-white-gold ropes (or whatever other colour scheme they would use). It's a really nice visual appearance and easy to watch. Of course, most of the wrestlers in the company at that time didn't hurt either. On top of that, and this has been said often, but that entrance ramp ruled. They had just the right amount of lighting too. It's funny, but the WWE will probably never do a WCW history compilation DVD, but something like this just made me miss WCW that much more. Funny how it works.
  6. Yeah, I'm with the Loss/Sek/Cam side of things. Angle should've just retired, allowed his body to heal, and spent time with his family fully (isn't he and his wife getting back together?). The dude's competitive, and that's why he's going to TNA, but there's a time when you need to step back and look at the big picture more, for your sake and your family's sake. On top of that, if Angle breaks the no-compete clause, he's giving up some guaranteed money that he would've received had he just sat back and chilled. Kurt, you've had what many would call a fun and successful career, but it's time to move on.
  7. Got this bad boy already today, four days before the official release date.
  8. I noticed that too. Funny shit. As for Morales, he was pretty below average, but look at his win and see the crowd jumping up and down. Really, as much as I hate to say it, that's all that matters. It was a different era, mind you, and I don't think his stuff, nor the finish of that match, would get over today, but it worked then.
  9. You're probably thinking about overlapping discs. The discs are on top of each other, but you can still see part of the bottom disc. The Taker DVD set actually has the discs stacked on top of each other. When you open the case, you only see the top disc. From what I've read, the crappy packaging only applies to the U.S. release. The Canadian release had a swinging tray, while the U.K. release was in a digipack. You would be correct. Odd how that only applied to the U.S. packaging. My DVD is exactly how the Canadian packaging is described. (I had to take back the Taker DVD once to get an exchange, but it was only due to a production error (the second disc stopped playing during the Taker-Michaels GZ match). I've had no problems with the current set I have.)
  10. I agree with CJ on this. UFC is more successful, but they're hardly a competitor of WWE and vice-versa. Their fanbases are different, and so are their competitors, for the most part. Aside from a few exceptions (i.e. Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar) I think we're not going to see too much of either sport's athletes jumping ship from WWE to UFC and vice versa. That's something that can and will still happen between WWE and TNA, but not the two companies in the subject line. Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes likely won't go to WWE. John Cena and Triple H even more likely won't go to UFC. Half the time, I think all this competitive talk of WWE vs. UFC is a result of Dave Meltzer covering MMA, and a lot of the wrestling internet fanbase equating UFC as a threat to WWE. If PPV buyrates means competition, let's throw boxing into the mix too.
  11. Holy shit. So did not expect that at all. Wow.
  12. September 26
  13. Actually, he said it would've made for better TV than "the same matches you saw last week". I found that funny since WCW's was easily pumping out better quality matches at the time than the WWF. Even funnier is the WWE today does pretty much the same matches week after week.
  14. I mean from the the RAW Workrate Reports those guys used to do. For example, I remember when the Vince-Steph I Quit Match (No Mercy 2003) was approaching and one of those guys has suggested that maybe they're timing it so the match falls during the right time of the month, so they can do the Magnum TA-Tully Blanchard finish and have Vince jam a stake up Steph's cooter so she doesn't have to blade. I wouldn't put it past Vince to do that finish, in fact. :ph43r:
  15. You guys have been reading stuff of Tom and Phil of DVDVR too much...
  16. BTW, this is stolen from HTQ at TSM, from this week's Observer:
  17. Michaels refused to job on that tribute show to British Bulldog. I'd say that is up there with the current stuff as far as scummy moves go. Hrm? I'm not familiar with this story. Unless you're talking about when Michaels refused to job to Davey in a match that Davey dedicated to his sister dying of cancer. I think that was it. (The One Night Only match.) Only similar story, which I heard only as a rumour, was Michaels wanting his win back over Rey Mysterio for putting over Rey at one of the Eddie TV shows that week. I never heard a confirmed report, though.
  18. But most of Piper's matches in WCW sucked. Yep, I'm with kjh on this one. I'd rather the Starrcade 96 match not be on there, in fact, but I understand the purpose of throwing it in.
  19. In fairness, a good group of matches (Portland tag, Rose, Brisco, Sheik, Orton, Rude cage, Mountie and Hogan Starrcade) have yet to get on a WWE DVD yet, so they're getting better there (as opposed to, say, the upcoming WWE Championship DVD. Besides, the rest are moreless necessities for a Piper career perspective.
  20. It's not just the WWE that does this, I'm afraid. A friend of mine has a bunch of TNA matches on YouTube, and was told by the company to take them down. Not sure how TNA is in relation to eBay, though.
  21. I think Dominic had worse inner feelings when Eddie, a friend of the family, passed away. Plus, Dominic likely knew, or had it explained to him, that this was part of the show/act/whatever. Aurora, on the other hand, if this angle had all come to pass, won't be old enough to know about it until a few years from now, and when she finds out, that's when the shit would hit the fan. It would be like Bart Simpson's reaction to Homer collecting money for Bart's old commercials, only likely much worse. Realization over an event so early in your life years later is a tough pill to swallow.
  22. Is it that much worse than Rey's son Dominic? Yes.
  23. I'm actually not surprised by that. Weren't there reports out back at the time about how both Stephanie and HHH were orginally against the angle of HHH boning a phony corpse? Sometimes both Vince's daughter and son-in-law seem to have better common sense than Vince himself does these days.
  24. That DVD showed up early here in Ottawa, in fact. (I saw it in an HMV this past Sunday, which means it got here at least *9* days sooner than the release date.) If it weren't for the fact that HMV was charging $33** CDN for the 2-disc set** (instead of, say, maybe $9 (even then, I have my druthers about buying it)) I'd confirm whether this is true or not (that is, if it's on the DVD). Knowing Vince and the shock value he'd like to give his own DVD, it wouldn't shock me if this is true (that is, it being on the DVD), even if the proposed angle is not true. **By comparison, I got the Undertaker, Bret Hart, and Dusty Rhodes sets (all 3-discers) for $25 or so.
