  1. If they ever have a "Post Of The Century" award, yours deserves it Mad Dog. I agree with everything already stated. Well put, and shame on that "writer" and those "fans".
  2. Absolutely! Even TODAY, many people mention Iron Mike Sharp along the same lines as Wayne Gretzky, Ferguson Jenkins, Steve Nash, and Bret Hart as far as "Greatest Canadian Athletes Ever" go.
  3. That was probably the most heelish Austin and HHH looked during that time too. This news, while unexpected, doesn't surprise me. I remember during the recent brief return of the Ross Return that JR said something along the lines of "We hope Jeff's back someday" or something like that, so I'm sure the lines have been open for a while.
  4. Probably. For those looking for reasoning behind Lita, she wants to get into acting, albeit generally smaller level stuff. Like Trish, she's saved tons of money and can probably go without work for a while if she wants to. Of course, we saw the news on Trish coming a while back.
  5. True, but when he gives opinions like a 2:30 women's match being the best women's match of the year, or the Bulldogs-Monsoon comment, he almost comes across as someone who doesn't understand the industry which he covers to make a living. Yeah, we all have bad opinions (I could probably find something I said in the past, and then wonder why I had that opinion) but when Meltz has really odd opinions and comments like those, they're quite the contrast to the superb work he does in finding news that most others only have a clue about afterwards.
  6. Never mind the promotion itself pushed how physically fit both guys were. Hell, there's a damn training segment on their old Coliseum Video release. Someone on TSM said it best (and I can't believe I just said that): Meltzer: Great scoops, shitty opinions. I mean, never mind that being workout gurus and gym rats were part of the Bulldogs' gimmick and character. Then again, Meltz is the same guy who thought the Stratus-James WM22 match was a carry-job by Stratus.
  7. http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/tryouts Heh. A mini Tough Enough, right in my hometown instead of something like, you know, a house show. (And no, I'm not going. But you all knew that.)
  8. Okay, "neat" was the wrong word, but it's just...I dunno...funny seeing him at a WCW show long before ECW's "prime".
  9. I was watching Sting vs. Jake Roberts from Halloween Havoc 92 (on the Jake DVD). Crap match, but in a neat (and appropriate, since the show was in Philly) bit, who do I see in the front row? ECW Hat Guy.
  10. He actually has a much lower risk for serious injury in MMA than he does in wrestling. He even has a lower risk of death in MMA. What Mad Dog said. MMA is actually safer than pro wrestling due to the lighter schedule the fighters have compared to pro wrestlers, as well as the existence of doctors close by at ringside, and a referee in matches who looks out for both fighters' safety, sometimes to a fault. Whatever Lesnar faces in MMA won't be nearly as risky as, say, his botched shooting star press at WM19.
  11. Last show on TSN is this Monday, then they switch to The Score. (I haven't watched too much myself. Only reason I have a clue about anything is via online.)
  12. Nah, more like the Canadian ESPN. Interesting stuff. Thanks for the tidbit, Bix.
  13. Hey, at least if it's a female you know they'll only manage the behind-the-scenes aspects of the company and never appear on TV over and over again to shove themselves down our thro... oh wait, never mind. Hey, at least in spite of all that, the female would never be booked to pin an incredibly over main eventer who would later go to Hollyw...oh, shit, never mind that as well.
  14. I think Monsoon also called someone else that too as well, long before Bret got that nickname. I'm thinking Dynamite Kid, but I need to rewatch some matches just to be sure.
  15. Don't know if you guys have seen the full Bret Hart Hall Of Fame speech yet (and this story is very different from the ones already mentioned) but Bret told a story about he hanging out with Owen and Jim Neidhart at a bar in Texas (after the PPV This Tuesday In Texas). Also there were Hogan, Beefcake, LOD and probably a group of others, likely babyfaces. Anyways, Vince shows up where they were (very drunk on his ass, as Bret implies) and the LOD set him up to do their finisher. Hawk got on a table to do that, and when he struck, someone else (perhaps Hogan and Beefcake) caught Vince so he didn't break his neck or anything. Neidhart whispers to Bret, "Hart Foundation would've taken him" causing Bret to have a nervous look, even moreso when Hogan said "What's going to happen?" Next thing Bret realizes, Anvil has Vince up, Bret goes along with it, and stiffs Vince pretty good with the Hart Attack clothesline. Got quite the laugh from the Hall Of Fame audience that night.
  16. The same kid cheered Cena during his entrance, IIRC.
  17. I thought the wording was it could lead to dismissal. Yup, you're right, Papi. Sounds to me that the policy of an arrest states the possibility of dismissal, not the definite case of dismissal. In which case, Dave may have hit the nail on the head with the eventual outcome. Either way, I think they were working those in the know last night with the title change, at least for now. We'll see.
  18. That may be my new favourite wrestling picture. Unbelievable reaction! Between that, and the older Cena non-fan reacting just after the finish to the WM22 main event and I'm loving how the WWE is using Cena to drive emotions from fans, both Cena fans and non-fans. Great camerawork by the WWE to capture that too! Thanks for posting that, Kevin.
  19. More power to Trish to move on, for a few reasons: 1. There's not much more she can accomplish, at least in the Women's Division. 2. She's probably set for life, or very close to it. 3. Leaving now will assure her of good health for her future. I doubt she's unhappy or anything, but, really, I don't know if there's much left for her, unless they turn her heel again, and go with one of Loss' old ideas of her sending heel after heel against the babyface champ.
  20. I wonder how HBK and HHH feel stealing McMahon potshots material from Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho...
  21. Great points, Loss! I'd even throw RVD in there as far as "guys who may be reaching their potential from working with Cena", albeit RVD's had his knees cut off from potential title runs. Still, he has had an unremarkable position until the Cena matches. I think I started realizing how much Cena is The Man right now around WrestleMania. I remember the heat for the Cena-HHH match and I remember JR saying how HHH may be cheered that night because of the traditional crowd (i.e. the anti-Cena crowd). Point being is it was one of the few times that the main focus (arguably) was not on HHH for a match like that. It wasn't "you either cheered Cena or cheered HHH" that night, it was, instead, "you eithered cheered Cena or booed the hell out of Cena, thus cheering HHH". Big difference. The real amazing part is how the news came out about, in that program, how the anti-Cena fans were going to be brought up heavily, and how Cena has a lack of good wrestling ability, and how many online people who don't hate Cena that much feared it would only bury him, especially in a HHH feud. On the contrary, it's been the exact opposite. Credit to Cena, of course, for all the above things already mentioned, but also credit to Vince for maintaining a push that, within the last few years, he might've given up on.
  22. ^^^ What he said.
  23. Sorry Loss, but I completely disagree with that statement. If Heenan did the typical heel shtick it makes the NWO look more fake and takes the heat off them. Heenan doing what he did put the NWO over as being more serious. This was a time when people were amazed at what was happening. There were even stories in the newspaper about the legal battle between WCW and WWF and how two big names had jumped ship. You could in no way stop the NWO's momentum. I believe Heenan was responsible for a few of links of the NWO heatchain (I love making new words up) Same thing with Zbysko. I don't know, WP, I've always thought the only thing missing from the nWo was Bobby Heenan blatantly sucking up to them, wearing an nWo T-shirt on the air (even if it wasn't given to him), constantly praising them and Hogan (as if he'd never bashed Hogan ever in his career), etc. just strictly out of fear of them. If anyone could pull that off realistically, it was Bobby.
  24. Oh, by the way, the WrestleMania Anthology set must've sold pretty well, because according to PWSpyware, the WWE is working towards eventually selling Royal Rumble and SummerSlam Anthology sets.
  25. Yeah, I'd say he was doomed well before the "Testicles" angle with Stacy. Not only did he not get a rematch with HHH (not that he was the only one victimized by that, but it did hurt him) but he was also HHH's tag partner a couple of times, if I recall correctly, giving him the image of a total whipping boy/second-rate sidekick. On top of that, the guy's been portrayed as a total loser when it comes to women, being kicked to the curb by Steph, Trish, and Stacy. Not a Test fan or anything, but the guy's been booked to fail ever since HHH showed the Las Vegas wedding footage.
