  1. In fairness to them, they actually are saying "WWE Homecoming". Never once heard them say "RAW Homecoming". They're just using the big return to USA as a reason for the return of the older workers. Of course, they're simply hoping to cash in big on ratings. I'm very interested to see if they succeed.
  2. Yeah, that's the one on the Benoit set released last year. I've watched this match quite a lot in fact. Great, great match that I never get tired of seeing. What I really liked was the lack of wasted moments. Either a good, meaningful highspot hit, or the injury psychology was well worked, or both. Wonderful match between the two.
  3. Regarding Rey-Eddy on 6/23/05, I'm not sure it's as good as HH97, but it's my WWE MOTY at the moment. I was far more into this match than I was into HBK/Angle at WM. Never saw the Angle/Jannetty SD match, so maybe that may be the only better match. I like Rey/Eddy moreso than a lot of the other MOTYCs from the WWE, such as the ones above, HBK/Shelton, among others that escape me at the moment. It's hard to compare the two Rey/Eddy matches, however. Rey/Eddy worked somewhat of a similar match to Eddy/JBL at JD 04, right down to the Memphis-style brawling. Considering how long the feud actually went, they almost could've used more of a schmozz finish than what they had (like Eddy/JBL) but even then, I don't think the finish hurt the feud that badly. I really need to re-watch it again. At the time, I thought it hovered around **** and I'm definitely curious if it's around that again the second time.
  4. I can see the WWE making a Freebirds DVD. The team was highly praised by many in the main program of the Road Warriors DVD. (Yeah, I know, that doesn't explain the Warrior DVD being made, but you know what I mean)
  5. Their differences at the time were far more professional than personal, even if that sounds silly. Hart commented at the Q&A session a couple weeks ago about how Michaels was allowed extra time off before WrestleMania to train strenuously while focusing on endurance for the sake of the match, while Hart got to battle slugs like Diesel, Taker and Yokozuna which caused him to slow his style down. Along with being a champ that seemed to be second-fiddle to whatever else was going on in the main event (Shawn winning the Royal Rumble, etc.). The match itself, while not a shoot, had shown some obvious disagreements between the two, such as Michaels sandbagging Hart on a couple occasions, and Hart no-selling (or at least not selling as much as he would) some great moves by Michaels. Both guys really aren't shy about bringing that up, as Hart said, in more ways, that it was a case of two guys trying to outdo each other, which does have multiple meanings. I also remember Shawn on his DVD set, while praising Bret as being the only guy on the roster he could do 60 minutes with, also stating that the conflict, "Was as real as wrestling could get." That too also has many meanings regarding the match.
  6. If you own the set, watch the HBK-UT HIAC match. Early on, JR mentions "WWF" and they forgot to take it out. This set, of course, was released in the summer of 2003, and this was well when they were heavy into editing stuff. I realize it's incredibly minor, but it's still stuff like this that could lead to more WWF suings. I'm pretty sure it was corrected for the Undertaker set (that match is on that set too). I agree about the match, but I don't think it's as boring as I used to think. There's lots of restholds in the first 40 or so minutes, as you mentioned, but they do break away from it and whip out the dynamic moves from time to time, to make them stand out, I think. Sometimes less is more as far as the early going of a match goes, and this is one of those matches that shows it.
  7. I really want to re-emphasize how I don't want the Bret/HBK Iron Man match on the release (since I already have it on the HBK release two years ago), but since the Shawn Michaels DVD will never be publically released again (thanks to an editing botch they made) and that Vince, Bret and Shawn all love the match, I think we'll get it nonetheless.
  8. Is is just me, or is Vince trying to re-create Paul Orndorff with Chris Masters? There's a lot of rebuilding to be done with this company. It won't ever happen though, unless Vince changes his mindset, which means the writing team as well does the same.
  9. http://s3.invisionfree.com/New_Millennium_...?showtopic=2342 There's your original post, Helmet. Very same info, just described differently. And the HBK Iron Man is mentioned bother times. The Survivor Series match was never mentioned in your post or this info.
  10. Isn't that the exact same list of matches that they talked about being on there? Did they confirm all of them to be on there? If so, I'm shocked. Especially with the amount of time many of them will take up.
  11. Wait. So you're saying that, when they filmed a backstage (assuming it was backstage) beatdown, that they accidently filmed a couple wrestlers playing video games at the same time??? If that's the case, that's the funniest thing I've read in a while. That's WCW-levels-of-production-editing funny.
  12. None. Remember, the WWE is playing the whole "Angle is more intense than EVER!" card at the moment. Unless you mean something else, Rudo.
  13. I enjoyed the hell out of that match, except for, most notably, the spot where Matt originally went after Lita. I thought Edge recovered way too quickly considering he had his HEAD DRILLED INTO STEEL STEPS just seconds ago. Other than that, fun street fight. What I really liked is how it made Matt Hardy stand out more than ever before. As much as I agree with Sek and Loss about how it should've finished off the show, the execution by both guys, as well as Lita, was well done. I like how Edge was literally crying in fear over the events, while Matt was simply quivering a little, as if he still wanted to fight. It went along nicely with his "I will not die" character. Lita looked a lot more humble than usual too, and along with Edge's fear over his neck injury, it's quite a nice turnaround by all parties, as now Matt has the edge in this whole thing. They really blew it, though, by not having the announcers at all, if even in a solemn state, say, "Well, Matt Hardy lived to his word", which is going back to the promo he did versus Lita. That, as well as not having this as the last thing on the show, were the only real glaring points of the segment, in my opinion.
  14. He liked his match with RVD. He also liked his matches with HHH. Doesn't mean HHH is one of his favourite opponents. Same with RVD perhaps. I still say him "going off on the IWC" was a work.
  15. Shawn's not a draw. Hogan at least was a draw. Hogan-Austin would be far bigger than Rock-Shawn would be.
  16. Actually, the one swinging-arm holder is what I have. It's got the first two discs on it, with the third behind the back of the case (like a stardard one-disc release would have). In spite of that, the second disc was still scratched. I blame production for that.
  17. Yeah, disregard Highspots and Silvervision and places like that. They're not up to date, at least for this set they aren't. The ONO match was the first thing I watched when I got the set. It worked fine.
  18. In case anyone's planning on purchasing it, I did, and through last night, as well as today, I've come to the conclusion that at least some batches' 2nd disc is poorly produced, with some scratches and stuff. I actually got a fairly good deal on mine $23.99 CDN for 3 discs, but when I tried playing the second disc, the disc stopped about halfway through the Ground Zero match with HBK. I tried exchanging it today, but the only other copy at the store I was at, Future Shop, had a WORSE conditioned disc. Fortunately, Future Shop was nice enough to give me a full refund, inspite of the package being opened and all. Now, this may not be the case for all the releases, but I remember Sek having a short conversation with myself about how our WrestleMania 21 DVDs had similar problems, so it wouldn't shock me if this issue is much of the same. If so, I hope it isn't to do with the packaging (they have a stacked-style packaging for the set instead of something similar to Flair's release). It seemed okay to me, but if that's the reason, the WWE should really consider re-releasing the entire set Flair-style, especially since it's not a bad set, by Undertaker's standard of matches at least. Heck, the One Night Only match is on there. Anyways, just a heads-up.
  19. I wish I had copied the article too. I hate being lazy during evenings. IIRC, though, I think he listed Ultimo Dragon, Chris Benoit, The Rock, Christian, and Shawn Michaels as his five favourite opponents.
  20. Whatever was at that link, it's now a 404 error. If Jericho is "working the smarts", couldn't TNA slap him for using their logo? Christ knows Vince would if someone was using the WWE logo in a rib. This article describes what I originally linked to I can't believe I just linked to a Lords Of Paste article. I'm losing my mind. Anyways, the jist of it all is there was a press release up at CJ's site describing his plans for the future, with a key sentence saying that with regards to wrestling, he's working for WWE and WWE only. I first discovered it at DVDVR. Word eventually got around the web fast and after that, I think Lee Wren, CJ's webmaster, took the article off. It's certainly a more botched way of working the internet than what Matt Hardy did, that's for sure. Bottom line is that they're just having fun with the web with the TNA thing. They've been known to do that in the past.
  21. It's not legit. I think Jericho and Lee Wren are having a laugh before he officially posts this: http://www.chrisjericho.com/press_release.htm
  22. Well, college football season is around the corner. That gives him something else to blab about.
  23. Regarding the Hogan release, that came in the summer of 2002, IIRC, and that was well before they began blurring out every showing of the WWF scratch logo. I also have the Rock release from the same time frame, and the same holds water for that one too. They didn't start blurring the logo out until the fall of that year. After that, that's when questions popped up if certain matches from 1998 to early 2002 would even make it on DVD. Even newer rules popped up, such as use of the phrase "WWF" in a verbal fashion. I often wonder if some sort of time frame is used as far as editing old material to suit the Fund's demands, or something of that nature.
  24. At the risk of sounding too optimistic, I don't think Matt Hardy's getting as buried as everyone thinks he is, and I'm playing a wait-and-see attitude about it. Many will point to him losing two in a row. First, regarding the SummerSlam match, Edge developed reason to be just as aggressive as Matt. I didn't see the match, but the only reason Matt lost was due to the referee stoppage, not Matt giving up or anything. Hardy losing to Conway was due to Matt being in no condition to fight, yet the guy has too much pride to not wrestle. Really, something like that helps his character, as it's real easy to get behind a babyface like that. Of course, at the same time, it's also a tragic flaw, but if you're going to have Hardy lose to somebody, it might as well be to a guy who's had a character makeover and has been getting some wins. Even after that, he still never gave up when Edge came to attack him and him getting hurt at the end was a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't think any of this is a sign of Matt getting buried. When the announcers say that he's on a losing streak or something, then we'll talk.
  25. I'm curious about those you mentioned, as well as how some newer eligible wrestlers, like Chris Jericho, did this year. I'm also curious about those who got low enough percentage votes that they won't be eligible next year, and if there's anyway questionable in that group too. Again, hey, at least the Freebirds finally got in.
