  1. Man Vince really loves beating up JR angles. I liked this as JR didn't back down and HHH does his best Stan Hansen with that lariat. So had HHH and Chyna officially broken up by this time? I know she's feuding with Jarrett as a babyface. HHH's voice is still so nasally here compared to how he sounds now.

    Evolve 45

Thatcher/Galloway was actually a title match and Thatcher won the titles. Evolve 46 was a fun show. Thatcher/Hero and TJP/Sabre were both MOTYC's I thought. If you like the style, you should make a point to see Thatcher live at least once. He's so great at psychology and Hero was trying to break his ear drums with headbutts and elbows to the ear. This was my first time seeing Zach live and he's pretty good. He and TJP had a match that was almost all armwork and trying to get out of armbars. It was quite fun. I also loved the Hooligans/Savages/Cade and Solo FIP tag title match. It was a crazy brawl which featured Cade getting powerbombed into the wall right in front of me.Rest of the Evolve matches were ok to good but way too much So Cal Val on these shows. I like her but she's no Sherri Martel. Drew/Trent was good but I'm glad it wasn't the main event. Nothing could top Hero/Thatcher.
  3. Really good match. I'm guessing this was Bret's last good match. Crowd is mostly quiet except for the finish. Tony and Tenay do a good job calling the match and ignoring Heenan's bad jokes.
  4. It's May 1996 all over again. So sad seeing Heenan here trying to tow the company line and Hall/Nash won't have any of it.
  5. Bulldog's slurred speech is even worse than Jake Roberts speech at Heroes of wrestling. I totally do not remember Stephanie having amnesia. I guess that's for the best.
  6. Brian threatens to end Dinsmore's career after Nick has been saying crap about him. Very old school heel promo and different than any promos you'd hear in 99 from other promotions. Even Memphis had more of an attitude era style promos than OVW did.
  7. So this is the start of what would be the end of Doug in Memphis. Real good angle with Brian playing the cocky heel from the WWF as he goes after Randy and then Doug steals his car. Gilbert cuts a crazy promo about how Brian won't be saved by his daddy anymore I think Doug is one of the more underrated guys in the history of Memphis but he was crazy and an enemy of Lawler so he didn't have much of a chance outside of Memphis.
  8. I guess Angle is a heel now? This can't be long before Wolfie turned into Slash right?
  9. So I guess they found out Synn was working for Cornette after all. Sad to see Grimes go as he was good in Memphis as he was unique. Way better than he was in ECW or XPW.
  10. It's rough watching Dreamer matches around this time cause you know he's so injured with his bad back. It's like watching current day Super Porky matches. This was one of his better matches as he mostly sold and Tajiri was so good in 99 he could carry it. Dreamer wearing all gray was weird and I'm not sure how good it was for Corino to take bumps from Francine. Still, not a bad match at all.
  11. Does Bruce Tharpe have any plans to show anything besides the old Houston footage? I'd like to see some old NWA title defenses from guys like Dan Severn, Mike Rapada and Sabu.
  12. DWB will be on my list somewhere. He had too many great moments and good matches not to. From his feud with Prichard to the battles with guys like Eric Embry and Brian Lee. He even was good in Power Pro after the disastrous run as TL Hopper vs guys like JR Smooth and Ekmo.
  13. Evolve is running Florida this weekend with shows in Ybor City and Orlando. I'm going to the Orlando show which had Thatcher/Hero, Galloway/Barretta and Davey Richards/Biff Busick. Biff got injured so he's off the show and now they are doing Hero/Davey which is a bummer. I was really looking forward to Thatcher/Hero. TJP vs Sabre Jr should still be good though so I'm still going.
  14. WWF @ Orlando, FL - Arena - May 10, 1999 (sell out) Owen Hart pinned Kurt Angle with a spin kick Raw is War - Monica Seles was in attendance for the event; included an in-ring promo by the Union - Vince McMahon, Mankind, Test, Ken Shamrock, & the Big Show, with three security guards in riot gear - in which Vince called Shane McMahon out until Shane appeared on the stage with the Corporate Ministry; moments later, Commissioner Shawn Michaels interrupted Shane on the Titantron, with Michaels announcing that Vince McMahon would be the second special referee for the Austin / Taker match at Over the Edge, alongside Shane; Michaels then announced matches for later in the night; Farooq would face Bradshaw in a lumberjack match, with the lumberjacks being all the members of the Union, Test vs. Bossman in a nightstick match, Brisco & Patterson vs. the Mean Street Posse in a Loser Leaves the WWF match, Shamrock vs. Chyna, Show vs. Paul Bearer (if any Ministry member interferes, Taker loses his title shot at Over the Edge), Cactus Jack vs. Mideon & Viscera in a handicap hardcore match, WWF Women's Champion Sable vs. Debra in a evening gown match (if Sable fails to show, she's stripped of the title), and Austin, Rock, & Vince vs. Triple H, Taker, & Shane; Michaels then asked that the Union's three security guards to unmask, with one being Pat Patterson, the other being Gerald Brisco, and the third being the special referee for the main event - Shawn Michaels himself; featured a Steve Blackman vignette; included a Beaver Cleavage vignette in which Beaver's mom cleaned up his scraped knee: Billy Gunn fought WWF Tag Team Champion Kane to a no contest at around the 5-minute mark when the Road Dogg and X-Pac came out to help Kane as he was tied upside down in the ring ripes, with Gunn and Road Dogg fighting into the crowd as X-Pac & Kane were jumped from behind by Mark Henry & D-Lo Brown, with Ivory; Henry & D-Lo were eventually pulled away by officials before being chased backstage by Kane & X-Pac prior to the bout, Gunn was approached by a planted female fan who jumped out of the crowd and hugged Gunn before she was pulled away by security The Big Show fought Paul Bearer to a no contest at around the 3-minute mark when Show was jumped by all the members of the Ministry after calling them out; moments prior, Show grabbed the microphone and asked if Commissioner Michaels would waive the stipulation that barred the Ministry from ringside after Show had laid Bearer out; prior to the match, Bearer attempted to flee backstage but was stopped by Michaels, who then joined the commentary team; after the bout, the Union made the save for Show wielding 2x4s Debra defeated WWF Women's Champion Sable (w/ Nicole Bass) to win the title via reverse decision in a bra and panties match; Sable originally won the match at the 50-second mark after Debra became distracted by Val Venis at ringside; moments later, as Val was backing off from Nichole Bass, who seemed to be coming on to him, Jeff Jarrett came out behind Venis and broke a guitar over his head; after the bout, Michael Cole attempted to interview Sable in the ring, with Shawn Michaels - who did guest commentary for the bout - then taking the microphone away, telling Bass to "Step off, mister", and said that the woman who gets her evening gown taken off should be the winner, therefore Debra was the new champion (Sable's last US TV appearance for nearly 4 years) The Big Bossman pinned Test in a nightstick match at 7:03 after hitting Test in the face with the nightstick as Test attempted a sunset flip; moments prior to the finish, Bossman used a second nightstick when the referee wasn't looking Cactus Jack defeated Viscera & Mideon in a handicap hardcore match at 4:36 by pinning Viscera following an elbow off the apron to the floor with a chair; after the bout, Cactus threw Viscera into the steel steps Bradshaw fought Farooq to a no contest in a lumberjack match at around the 2-minute mark when Viscera and Mideon entered the ring and tried to stop the bout, with Farooq and Bradshaw shoving them out of the way until the Big Bossman came out and cooled them down; moments later, Mankind, Test, Ken Shamrock, and the Big Show - who served as lumberjacks for the bout - entered the ring with 2x4s and, after the other Ministry members fled the ring, all four men beat down Viscera with the weapons Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco defeated Rodney & Pete Gas at 2:09 when Rodney submitted to Brisco's figure-4 as Gas submitted to Patterson's Boston Crab; Patterson & Brisco used "Real American" as their theme music; due to pre-match stipulations, Rodney & Gas were forced to leave the WWF; had Brisco & Patterson lost, they would have had to leave (The Best of Raw 15th Anniversary) Jeff Jarrett (w/ WWF Women's Champion Debra) pinned Val Venis at 8:03 by hitting him with Debra's title belt after she slapped Venis in the face Ken Shamrock fought Chyna (w/ Triple H) to a no contest when Triple H and Shamrock began fighting before the bout began, with Shamrock dropping Triple H to the mat and hitting a belly to belly suplex on Chyna before storming off, upset that he was driven to the point where he would strike a woman WWF World Champion Steve Austin, the Rock, & Vince McMahon defeated the Undertaker, Triple H (w/ Chyna), & Shane McMahon at 4:38 when Austin pinned Shane with the Stunner; moments earlier, Austin hit the Stunner on Shane and a dazed Vince made the cover, only for Austin to pull him off and hit a second Stunner on Shane before making the cover himself; Shawn Michaels was the guest referee for the bout Shotgun - 5/22/99: The Godfather defeated Albert via disqualification Edge & Gangrel defeated Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor Droz defeated Meat Super Astros - 5/23/99: Apollo Dantes & Papi Chulo defeated Taka Michinoku & Sho Funaki El Merenguero defeated Jose Estrada Jr. Super Loco defeated Miguel Perez Jr. I don't remember much about this show except the place came unglued for the Main and HBK and Sable. I also remember Owen vs Angle a little bit. This was WWF's return to Orlando since June 1996 and i went with my uncle and friend.
  15. It always amazes me when they go in the crowd. Hebner's slow 2 count is even more annoying than usual. What was the reason Bulldog fell down the card so fast after this? Just a couple months later, he was teaming with the Mean Street Posse.
  16. Yurple the Clown comes out to Doink's music. What a night for old WWF themes. This is a legendary segment no doubt but it gets worse everytime I see it. I remember they did another version of this when Rock came back which wasn't very good at all. Having said that, this was the Rock at his best. His one liners just killed.
  17. Stack up on the Oysters. Great line by Mick. I guess the Blonde Bytch project is over?
  18. Crowd goes nuts for Kidman's shitty SSP. The Juice is pretty great on the outside with Chavo. Yeah Psicosis unmasking doesn't make much sense but it did lead to him becoming NIcho which is a much better gimmick.
  19. Liz sure did get some good work done. Luger is jacked to the gills. I hated this gimmick so much as a kid but it did lead to Totally Buff and his team with Flair that I liked.
  20. Steve Austin: Anti Union ass kicker is something else. Bulldog is wearing his old gear which I didn't know he did in this run. I just remember him in jeans. This was a big old clusterfuck but the finish was nice and told a story.
  21. Best part of the match is the guy falling over the dog trying to chase Bossman. One of the worst matches in WWF history no doubt.
  22. This was for a short feud with Jimmy Hart's first Family. Good promo from Brad while his brothers just stand there.
  23. Man Flash was great in this. Upset that he doesn't have a WWF contract and Cornette is trying to screw him, he attacks everyone including the refs. He walks out of the ring and then kicks the ref in the head for good measure. What a heel move.
  24. Vic has a whole new look. Weird seeing a cage match in the studio but they work hard. Especially Bradley. Lots of run ins and we get the old NWA finish. PPW seems on fire now
  25. This was wild. Between calm voice Brian, the baseball bat hitting the TV in a total old school moment and Randy Hales going all Ian Rotten and getting hit with a lighttube and not bleeding. Great stuff.
